Steak was not cooked to order...ordered well done and had to send back twice and still wasn’t cooked. We ended up throwing away and all they offered was a $15 discount
Our server was very friendly.
The location is excellent overlooking the Fraser River. Service and food were very good, although prices for food and drinks are quite high.
We'll be back! Lovely dinner, attentive service. What more could I say? If I have to write fifty
characters I am now at a loss for words! You will enjoy your experience here!
We went to boathouse by the quay with my mom and dad on Sat for dinner. We stood at the front for good 8 minutes waiting for the hostess (no one was there to host). The bartenders and some servers saw us but didn’t even make eye contact. Finally some girl came after 8 minutes and told us they are getting our table ready so another few minutes. By the time we got in, the restaurant was not even busy at all! Food was really not great. I would describe the food quality is something I would expect from dennys or whitespot. Our waiter was okay because he at least had a smile on. However, he’s definitely not very experienced and just randomly placing meals and not telling us which plate is which. Price of boathouse is like the Keg but probably still abit more expensive. Overall it was a disappointing dining experience and we will never go back again.
Ridiculous prices (very high for low quality food)
Our server was good for the Boathouse, as past servers there have been rude and slow
Will not ever eat here again
Our experience at the Boathouse in New West was a little disappointing. We completely understand having to wait longer than usual for our food because our order was following the order of a large table. However, we don't appreciate receiving cold food once our order does make it to our table. Especially considering the price we are asked to pay for our meal.
Friendly staff, food was good.
Value for the meal was certainly appealing. Parking was limited though, spent at least 15 minutes driving around the neighborhood looking for space.
Had a wonderful dining experience.
Fantastic place. Love the dine out menu, and the regular menu. Would recommend the surf sangria and the seasonal creme brulee!
Little bit of "slow kitchen"!
Guests were made to feel valued and comfortable. Ambiance, service, food taste and portion size were great. My family will be back!
Enjoyed lunch today during the Dine Out Vancouver festival event with my friend at the New Westminster Boathouse. Sunny day and wonderful view of the Fraser River. The lobster bisque and Wild Salmon were delicious!
The food, ambiance and service is always exceptional. Staff, and other diners, are always friendly.
The bread was tasted too much yeast. The steak is just so so.
Love the beautiful waterfront view and pretty cozy atmosphere. Staff are friendly. Dishes are just fine, not amazing though.
We were there for dine out Vancouver we sat in the lounge and had 2 drinks the cesar I had was the worst I have ever had and I drink cesars a lot. It just had a strange flavour. The wine was really good. The food and service was quite good in the restaurant.
Server is really nice but general management is really bad. Waited for 10 minutes but no one even gave us water. Ask for median steak but get a almost well done one. Not sure if the quality is affected by the location or dine out. Will not come to this location again
Server could have been more pleasant. She always looked miserable like she didn't want to be there. Never asked if we wanted refills for our drinks and never asked how we were doing. And the place wasn't busy. There were empty tables. When we left, no goodbye or thank you from any of the staff. Wouldn't go back there again. Underground parking was confusing. Most of the stalls said reserved 24/7 every day and had very limited guest parking. Had to drive around a few times waiting for parking stall to come free. There was a security person working but he was not helpful. Only after we found a parking stall did we overhear him say to another guest that we can park anywhere (at reserved 24/7 stalls). He saw us driving around because he was walking around the parking area but he never offered to tell anyone; only until he was asked. Bad! Then when went to pay for parking, no receipt printed. When leaving, got stuck in the parking because train was going by so had to wait over 10 minutes to cross railway tracks.
We went to the Boathouse to celebrate our close friend's 65th birthday on DineOut Vancouver week. Location was lovely with the boats in full view in front of us. When we got there it was pretty empty and were ignored or forgotten for fifteen minutes ...took several flagging of staff to get our drink order in hand. Our waiter was very charming and prompt after realizing that we were here to celebratel
Kudos to the wait staff...The food that we ordered was delicious and as a party of four, served at the same time. However....The DineOut menu was exactly the same as the regular menu which had an $10 top up option of an entree for soup/salad/appetizer and choice of the same two desserts featured on the DineOut menu.
Really thought that was not what DineOut was all about. I have been doing DineOut for the past ten years and usually they try to feature a unique combo of appy, main and dessert that makes you want to come back. Not for us as there was no unique menu item nor was there any special service items. If you live in the neighbourhood maybe for appies but wouldn't drive from Vancouver for 45 minutes for this experience.
Service and ambiance is fine, but the quality of our food (except for our appetizer which was very good) left everything to be desired. Side order mushrooms tasted like they'd been cooked in chlorine, maple salmon inconsistently cooked, and my blackened tilapia was over cooked, and very dry to the point of being inedible. On top of this, no credit off our bill was offered, which, for the prices they charge, seemed ludicrous. We used to eat at the Boathouse at least once a year, but no more. We won't be back.
This is a nice little seafood restaurant tucked away near the Quay. We got a nice table with a view of the river. The service was great, and the food was OK, just as good as The Keg. However, the place was dead and expected the food to be brought out quick but that wasn't the case! The food and desserts took forever, we spent close to 2 hours dining in when it could have been an hour to an hour and a half at most.
Food was delicious and portion sizes just right, nicely presented. Our waiter provided excellent, professional service. Décor was good but lighting was a bit too dark, on a dark night seated by the windows.
They were very accommodating when we asked to move to a different table as we were in a draft from the door opening. Great service and food.
Went on Saturday night dinner for 3 people at 5:15.
Not friendly hosts, had to do coat-check on our own, bring the coats all the way back to the front from our seating. It could've been better if we were told upon the enter the restaurant by the hosts. No one told us where the hanger was, or guided while I was holding 3 winter outer coats, the big, long &heavy ones.
For the foods, we had one of $35, and two of $45 courses.
Lobster Bisque - Perfect tasting & creamy.
Caesar Salad - Perfect garlic flavor dressing + fresh romaine
Fried Coconut Prawns - Excellent texture, and fresh.
*DISAPPOINTING main entrees.
Steak, ordered rare, were too firm, and it was closed to medium-well done. There was still meat membrane and chunk of fat. It was too chewy, and I had to spit out that slice.
Salmon was too fishy, found 2 fishbones while we were chewing the Salmon steak.
Risotto was too mushy, the rice was over-cooked, mushy, and had steamed rice texture.
Mocha Ice Cream Pie - BEST Ice cream EVER in Lower Mainland.
Caramel Brulee - somehow all 3 of us taste something fishy from brulee, it was weird, probably something on the dish?? or cross-contaminated by their seafood dishes?? I would not recomment this brulee if the fishery taste was from their food.
Food was good and service was good. A nice place to have dinner with friends and famiky
Birthday. Our server Marsha was excellent.
Excellent service and food
We were celebrating my husband's Jan 2 birthday, and often choose this spot. Was very quiet, understandable at this time of the year, and we had a nice spot looking out over the river. My husband received a complimentary dessert, which was nice.
Would be nice if the restaurant could reimburse for the parking, $5 for the evening, and really not other options to street park nearby.
Great service. Good food. Good location. Always a good time.
Was their New Year’s Eve.
Forced to order off the set a la Carte menu, which was excellent, but over priced.
We went to the Boathouse for the New Year's Eve fixed price menu dinner. The food was AMAZING, the service was great and our two small children were treated with respect and as special guests. This has been our family tradition for the last 4 years, and we will continue on until they do not offer it anymore.
Beautiful location!! Great food
I don’t know what I did wrong but the hostess acted as if she did, not a look in the eye, a smile or even a hello. Our server wasn’t much better- it took him 20 minutes to arrive and he was morose. I certainly didn’t feel welcome. I had the halibut which was good, however he got the order wrong- someone else dropped off the missing vegetables without a word. One of our party had a crab-shrimp omelet and couldn’t find the seafood- on inquiring she was assured that it was in there... it might have been but it was smaller than we could detect... this was really too bad as we have enjoyed the Boathouse on several occasions but this was definitely not return worthy!
very pleasant afternoon with daughters. food was excellent.
The Boathouse is excellent, but parking may be a problem, because of the condo towers being built on the main outdoor parking lot.
Because it was a very quiet day after Xmas, we managed to perk underneath.
Parking spaces for hotel guests were well marked with cones.
Great food and great service. Haven't been disappointed everytime I come. Came with booking on Xmas day and service was still top notch. Got seated within 10 min of my reservation.
We went for The Christmas dinner. Both of us ordered the turkey dinner and we agreed that it was ok but far from great. The service was excellent and the waiter was very attentive. The view is also nice. Overall teverything was great except the most important thing - the food. Vegetables needed to be cooked more, the turkey needed more gravy and the stuffing was a bit gluey. Dessert was good but the creme caramel was very much on the meager side with about a total of two spoonfuls and not worth the nine dollars.
