Boathouse Richmond Ratings and Reviews
Despite a nearly empty restaurant and having made reservations we waited several minutes to be seated, and were then crammed into the corner of an overcrowded area of the restaurant where they were putting everyone. Ambience consisted of a good view of the parking lot - I can understand this on busy evenings but would suggest to the Richmond Boathouse that quieter nights might be a good time to treat your customers to a decent table, even if it means your servers have to walk a few steps further. The service was fair at best, the food was good but nothing more. I will not go the Richmond Boathouse again as I've had similar experience there in the past.
The food and service was excellent. We were only a bit disappointed as we did put the reason for us going to the restaurant was to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. The table where we sat was not at all a place where you would spend a special night. Our table was located beside two ladies who were talking with such loud voices. We were glad they did not stay throughout our dinner. Other than that the lady that was serving us was excellent. I would have presumed that when we came in the lady that took us to our table would have checked the occasion on our reservation and maybe she could have put us in a better table.
Atmosphere/Ambiance: A spacious restaurant that is looking a bit on the weary side. It's as if it has been at sea for a long time and the elements had made it's shine dull. The room is unremarkable. It was a quiet night and due to the size of the place, it felt deserted.
Food and Drinks: The experience is overall salty like sea air. Any delicate, sweet flavour that seafood might impart has been washed away by a high tide of salt.
The Crab Dip for 2 is snugly surrounded by thick, dense, tortilla chips that is closer to baked pita chips. The dip is creamy and oddly nondescript in flavour. The Mussel Steamer Pot is a handful of plump, juicy, sea monster sized (ok, I exaggerate, but they were huge) mussels soaking cozily in a shallow pool of garlic white wine butter broth. The broth is once again one note: salty. The mussels were plump and juicy, doing all they can to sincerely apologize for being partnered with a boring, salty partner.
Great service....food was excellent! Good value for your money.
Good food. Good service
Christmas eve understandable. But they should not accept so many people and they can't service them. Waiting Two hours before food being served . Definitely No No for next time.
Bad food and bad service!
Since it’s Xmas eve, too many people there, waiting for a long time
Food was ok. But service was awful. Servers spilt sauce on my friend didn't even come back with napkins.
I ordered a salmon seafood dish on Friday night, and the food was sadly terrible. Everything had an odd taste, and the salmon was overcooked and had a rubbery texture. When I sent it back to the kitchen, the second salmon that came out was not cooked at all in the middle. When the manager came to apologize for the mistake, I asked if the fish was frozen, he said yes and that its typical to get frozen salmon in the winter??, so there was nothing they could do. This was misleading, as there is a huge sign on the overhang of the restaurant advertising 'fresh seafood'. Overall, I paid $40 for a meal that should have been $15.00 at best. I would NOT RECOMMEND to anyone looking for good seafood.
Wife and I had a gift card so we popped by for a quick bite before some Black Friday shopping. We had evening reservations but the restaurant wasn't busy, and we were left standing for a good five minutes at the front while they located our table. Once seated (at an odd two-person table at the side of the busy walkway), the service was excellent. Bread was refilled constantly and our waitress was excellent. We ordered a couple of seafood dishes, and they were adequate.
I've never been overly impressed with the Boathouse menu -- overpriced west coast fare IMO -- but you're really paying for the atmosphere. The restaurant had just the right lighting, was quiet and had a well stocked bar. We both really enjoyed our drinks (whiskey sour/bellini). Would I come back? If someone brought me (or if I had another gift card ;))
Meh. Was ok. It's no Sandbar
The bread game was strong in topping it up. Drinks were timely refilled and food came at a good reasonable pace.
I am usually not one to complain but It’s defiantly overpriced for the quality of food that came to the table. Won’t be going back for a longtime.
The food was excellent once again. It's not our first time there and they never disappoint. Sevice was wonderful.
Excellent food and service, as always. This is a favourite for us. On this occasion we had a friend with us who has a food allergy and the server and chef were MOST helpful and accommodating. Very impressive and made our evening!
Food is always great, right now is their lobster event love the three course dinner
Had a great evening celebrating a 50 year friendship! The food was as excellent as the company and the staff was also excellent!
Great place for seafood. Nice bar area with prompt service.
Good appetizers and service, however, was quite disappointed with my mean. Pasta was very bland and was expecting a lot more value for the price of the meal/dinner.
It was an anniversary of our first date eleven years ago ( but that was at the Boathouse in New West). We thoroughly enjoyed a pre dinner martini in the bar prepared by Rachael, and she was really friendly and attentive. We moved to the dining area and had a super dinner there, and were well served, but actually wished we had stayed with Rachael. Would definitely go back there!
Meal was horrible.. all four of us were very disappointed. Destroyed my sockeye salmon. Birthday boy's crab was dry. The bathrooms were disgusting but the service was great.
Love going to the Boathouse whenever staying overnight in Vancouver. Had the tuna poke and great Okanagan Pinot Gris
Coconut shrimp is amazing
We stopped in for appetizers prior to picking up our daughter at the airport. We were there for their happy hour and had the pork sliders, coconut shrimp, buffalo wings and bruschetta. We had to send the wings back as they were cold. There were only two sliders which were not worth the price. The shrimp and bruschetta were good.
Front desk was not as welcoming as I expected. Wait staff were very good. Meals were tasty and well presented but not huge for the price. Washrooms were very clean and well lighted.
Disappointed with the décor and quality of food. However service is very good, we're well greeted and our waiter is excellent. The décor need to be upgraded. Food quality is so so We liked the crab legs but not the halibut. Both fish and rice was dry. Grilled vegetables were hard, seemed uncooked
An okay meal but the food was as good as other branches of the Boathouse. I was particularly disappointed that I requested a friend's birthday be acknowledged and it was ignored. Overall, a nice environment, decent service but average food which seemed overpriced.
Service was good. Food was Good. Wasn't my favourite Boathouse experience.
The servers were friendly and chatted with my children as they watched the action in the kitchen. I asked for a special meal for myself. They spoke to the kitchen and brought me a wonderful meal.
We had a warm reception and the ambiance was good. Food was very good and we will be back.
Made reservations and was on time but waited long for our food even though there were only 2 of us. Saw our food sitting in the warmer for a long while and so my fish was dry when it came and also very bland... sourdough bread & garlic wine sauce that came with the mussels were our favourite part of the meal unfortunately...
Jasmine, our server, was very pleasant and attentive.
We met friends for dinner; it was a sunny and warm day so we got a table on the patio. Perfect evening; the food was good and so was the service. We're regulars and so far, so good ! The Boathouse Richmond doesn't disappoint !
Upon being seated at our table, the server was clearly stressed, her first words were "how busy we are!" Obviously, we could see this however this is not something you should convey to guests, we didn't need to be told this. She was rude, in a hurry and very cold to us. In fact she was also "MIA" during the meal with no one filling in for her even if she was on a break. The crab cake I had ordered was very dry and clearly had been sitting for awhile was tasteless and cold & came with "greens", no dressing. When I asked the bus person for some salad dressing she told me what dressings they had & then said that she'd get our server to assist us. Good luck with that I thought! So, the hostess (not our server) came by a few minutes later stated that the dish didn't come with dressing but the chef recommended the apple cider dressing (which was wonderful on the dry bed of greens). Once my husband was about to pay, he pulled out the Landry's card and the server (finally showed up!) took the bill to the manager. We travel all over the US and Canada and visit Landry's chains. It was only then that the server "buttered up and changed her tune" when she "accompanied the manager" to our table. She mentioned "Oh is this a cowboy hat?? (My husband had placed on the seat beside him), she said "Oh this is awesome!!!" she had only passed and stood over it 6-7 times through the course of our visit....What a performance..... Interesting. Not impressed. He was a nice fellow but seriously, you need to work on your wait staff. This was horrible. We have been to the Boathouse Richmond at least 7-8 times in the past 4 years in our travels. We certainly will not be back to this Boathouse & we intend to take this further to the Landry Group over this very poor dining experience.

The service is good and the food is awesome. The place needs renovation.
The food was good, but expensive. We waited an hour from the time we ordered out food until it was served. I noticed that the people around us seemed to get their food sooner than us. I had the impression that somehow our group of 7 were either forgotten or ignored. I won't be back
The calamari appetizer was ridiculously small. When I mentioned it to our server she simply agreed and left it at that.
When my coleslaw portion arrived with my meal it was hardly noticeable on my plate.
This time I didn't just point it out , I showed our server and asked her to bring me a proper portion, which she did.
I choose to have most of my family occasions celebrated at The Boathouse and accept the fact that the food costs tend to be high but I also expect the portions to be fair.
I am loyal and will continue to dine at The Boathouse but I will start to voice my concerns to the servers if appetizers and side dishes disappoint. Thankfully, the main courses were enjoyed by all.
Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had a quiet evening with great food.
There were only two groups of four when we were having lunch here so it was quiet. The food was ok but, because there wasn't anybody in the restaurant, the service was fabulous.
