We were celebrating our anniversary and they made it a special experience for us.
It was a really nice night. Our waitress was great without lots of interruptions and the view was perfect. We will be back.
Was fabulous , we had a window seat, saw the sunset, enjoyed the meal, wonderful anniversary dinner.
The food flavor and presentation has gone down while prices have gone up, will not go again nor recommend to friends.
Hostess came over to the "Please Wait To be Seated" counter. I gave my name and time of reservation for two. Hostess started typing on the computer monitor, tore paper off, wrote something down, then raised her head and asked "Do you have a reservation?" What was she doing all that time? She obviously did not hear a word I said and was not looking for a table for us. She then searched and got a table and led us to it, never with a smile. Not a good start. We ordered the Steak & Lobster promoted to us via email. After a long wait, and without any bread served, the meal came. I was so shocked at the look of it - no vegetables at all. Just a steak (which was okay), a small lobster and a lump of mashed potato. It did not look appetizing at all. Due to the shock, we did not notice there was no butter. We had to wait forever - while the food was getting cold - to get the attention of the server who apologized for "Oh, I forgot" about the butter. We were so annoyed that when I asked the bill, I decided to inquire as to whether there was a cost to bread. The server said they were told not to bring bread unless customer asks. Another shock. If you don't want food wasted, all you have to do is ask: Would you like any bread? This is presumably an up-scale restaurant. Nothing about it was even close to normal-scale. Another note: Their Happy Hour drinks and snacks are available only at the bar. We eat out a lot. This is the only restaurant we have encountered that has such restrictions. I think the restaurant is catering only to tourists who visit White Rock for the first time and don't know any better. Don't go there. There are many other great restaurants here, like Washington Avenue Grill, Cosmos Greek, Jan's...
Miso halibut was soggy and should have been crispy. My husbands meal wasn’t very warm. It was just OK nothing outstanding and not as good as we have had in the past.
Food was expensive. I had a salmon burger. The piece of fish was so small i thought they had forgot to put it in my sandwich. It then fell apart as there was too much sauce on it. Service was excellent.
This place needs a good clean up. The carpets are filthy, the stairs and handrails are tacky and worst of all the food quality has gone downhill from times past.
Service was wonderful
Food was great
Arrived at 6:08, checked in and was seated at 6:09. The hostess was nice and said we will be helped shortly. Waited until 6:27 with not a single person speaking to us or asking if we would even like water in our empty glasses. Everyone around us was being helped many times. Several waiters/waitresses looked our way but nobody even spoke to us. My wife and I have never experienced this before.
Decided to leave at this time and let the front hostess know what happened. Will never return to this boathouse again.
Today was my 82nd birthday and I went to dinner with my best friend. We had a wonderful new young lady to serve us, who was very nice and friendly and very helpful. The food we ordered was delivered very quickly and it was FABULOUS. Hot and delicious and lots of it. It was worth every cent we paid for the meal, and then some, I would have paid more.
I was told by the delightful Night Manager that I had a dessert coming for my birthday. I was so full that I asked if I could take it home. Half of my meal was eaten, so I took half home for tomorrow night. The
dessert went home also. I do not remember when I have had such a wonderful dinner as tonight.
I LOVE THE BOATHOUSE IN WHITE ROCK......I will keep going as long as possible.
My wife found the steak had too much pepper, and when the food was delivered they did not ask who ordered medium, who order the medium rare.
I took my Mom who's been having a difficult time with life to enjoy the beautiful Boathouse in White Rock. Of course, the gorgeous ocean view and ambiance in the restaurant are awesome. I have had terrific food here before, but I particularly came for the Steak and Lobster special for $35 the other night. I have to say sadly it was okay, but I've had much better and I'm surprised. The garlic mashed potatoes were not flavorable enough and the steak flavor needed something. I don't expect a big lobster for the special price but this was a junior tiny lobster, smallest I've had to date and I tend to go for Steak and Lobster specials at lots of restaurants. It was just a bit disappointing. My mom had the bacon cheddar burger with wonderful fries which are always amazing and the burger delicious. Thanks but I hope you can improve on the Steak and Lobster .... The service was very good .... Always a great restaurant though, virtually every time.
Our friend’s mom came visit and she’d never been to White Rock, we took her there for dinner and she really enjoyed the food, the view. Great first time experience.
Excellent service by waitress Sam. Accommodated a group of 5 crazy ladies celebrating a 50th birthday
Very small portion for the amount we paid. Would not go back.
Our server was dismissive and the only time she would come over to talk to us was when she suggested to add the most expensive things to our meal without explaining their were other options (less expensive).
Also she tried to over charge us... once we explained the mistake she acted as if it was our fault she made the mistake and tried to over charge us by $75?! This will probably be our last time at white rock boathouse.
Horrible service, forgot our appetizers & didn’t take drink order. Food not as ordered & very bad quality. 2 orders sent back. Incredibly over priced. Won’t return
The patio was wonderful for a late summer dinner in the sunset at the beach.
We have been at the Boathouse before and we were looking forward to our return for a lovely seafood dinner. Unfortunately this time we were disappointed . Presentation and quality poor.
Booked via the app and was asked what the occasion was - I indicated that it was our 20th anniversary and if possible would like a seat on the patio.
We arrived and where told no reservations for upstairs but we could walk up and look for ourselves if there was a table. No thanks, we will take our reservation as the restaurant was getting busy. We are placed in a small table away from the view windows and forgotten about for awhile. I then asked for one of the empty window tables and we waited again for service.
Steak was chewy, crab legs were small and you could tell had been frozen for some time due to the shrinkage of the meat. Our server seemed busy and seemed checked out until it was tip time.
Overall it was a disappointment. What was to be a special meal was less than we could have made at home and we would have done a much better job of it. $150 dollars does not buy what it used to.
My friend and I went for an early supper . Great food , great service and beautiful view. Wasn’t busy, service was super quick.
Dave, our server, went above and beyond. The whole experience made our anniversary evening a beautiful experience. Thanks, Boathouse!
Great food and service. Nice view of the ocean.
Very good service and tasty food. Nice view, not noisy, and good for dating.
Ate lunch in the dining room. Based on the other guests and the decor it is a spot for seniors. Menu is a bit large and makes one wonder how it can all be fresh. Food was average. Will not go back. Perhaps their rooftop view makes up for such things.
This restruant is amazing, great service and awesome food. Only issue I had was I ate way too much.
Location is definitely in need of an update. Early evening lighting left nothing to the imagination. Everything feels quite dated. Lamb shank was a mistake as it barely felt like there was much meat on the bone and the wife’s Seafood medley seemed quite minuscule as well. The complimentary cheesecake to celebrate our anniversary was the best part of the meal.
Views outstanding and location very good. Plenty of parking. Food was good. I would recommend the salmon burger.. Best of all choices... Fish and chips a bit on the oilier side... Very accommodating and excellent service. Nice birthday celebratory place for dinner. Walked along the White Rock boulevard. Perfect weather and outstanding views.
We made a reservation for a special occasion. Service was awful. We sat for 20 mins before we were acknowledged- food arrived 1 hour after that. Our bill had a few errors, but we didn’t bother inquiring as it would have had to wait longer. Food was great, though. We were disappointed with the service and wouldn’t recommend to others unless it improves.
The only concern I have is I made reservations 3 days ahead of time for a window seat for 5 of us for a birthday dinner and they couldn’t help us out with that.
All and all food and service was very good and would definitely come back.
It was lovely, great food, great company, never a disappointment
The location is great. pay parking and finding parking on a sunny weekend is annoying.
Our greeter and seater was rude and disinterested at best.
Our server was great however and the manager introduced herself as well.
Food was above average to very good.
Tap beer was not cold but bottles were.
We sat on second level inside. It became very warm around 6-6:30 pm.
I will say again that our server was very pleasant and helpful.
Waitress was rude to each table. The excuse was the Sea Festival getting her too busy. The fork & spoon wee flying without apology. The ice water might not get after 30 minutes until further reminding, and again, replied with same reason for Sea Festival. The boathouse won’t support Sea Festival?
We arrived and they gave our table away to someone with the same first name but not last name. We had to wait as we had someone in a wheelchair and the restaurant was full with reservations . 5:30 sittting on a Saturday night and they had no oysters
This was a very special evening for us as one of my siblings is quite unwell and we just needed time together. The Boathouse always delivers great food. The only disappointment was that there were many empty tables as our meal ended, but we told we had 10" left until another group was coming to use our specific table, so we had to end our visit quickly. Yes, we had a corner window - but even the server admitted it was very warm there and that the rest of the restaurant was cooler. Was it really necessary to ask us to leave? Really? We chose this location for a specific reason, but I'm not sure we'll do it for reasons like this again.
I thought the food was good. The mixed grill seafood was a nice variety. The salmon could have used some sauce, though. The stuffed prawn was nice, two would have been nicer!!
The music was terrible, discordant, sounded like a radio off the station.
We noticed the furniture is getting shabby. Some major gouges out of chairs, and upholstery had threads hanging. Maybe take a look at each chair. It would only take minutes to correct minor problems and improve the ambience.
food was okay but super Salty. Which was disappointing because we brought friends and usually have a good experience. But not this time.
Service was slow and restaurant wasn’t busy. Fish tacos were dry, kids meals cold. We had the seafood platter to share which was great, the only reason we scored a 3. Highly unlikely we would be back with so many great restaurant options on the pier. Restaurant is outdated and ambiance lacking.
