We hadn't been to the Boathouse for years due to historical dissapointments. We must admit that the food was absolutely excellent on our recent visit!
We stood and waited for quite some time before a hostess came to seat us even though multiple servers walked by us.
Entrees came before appetizers were even half eaten.
Actual server was great though. View is beautiful.
I have regular items that i order from the menu (always seafood dishes) but I decided to have the lamb shank for a change. It was excellent served with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables that were just lightly cooked. Whole meal was delicious.
The food is not worth the cost: salmon was dry, was told it would be medium. $45.00 dine out Vancouver menu was sparse to say the least, very small soup, only 5 ravioli & dessert...for $45.00?!. Chicken on chicken burger was smaller than the bun. If I am paying $$-$$$ I should be able to expect food, not walk out feeling ripped off. And we came in a group to celebrate 2 birthdays, which I specified in the online reservation. I had to order a couple of desserts and I was charged. Most restaurants would have comp'd at least one of them. Very disappointed.
Amazing food and care when it comes to Allergies!
We went to boathouse in white rock for my dads birthday. The waitress we had was absolutely terrible. She came to take our order and right off the bat she informed us that the kitchen has run out of their butter for the firecracker shrimp so she said the kitchen could make us something similar, which was just butter and chilli flakes (definitely not worth the $15 or whatever it was worth). After that our waitress came back twice, once for our order and once to give our food. She did not come back for water, which all of our glasses were empty (there was 5 of us). The other tables seemed to have great service with their servers, just not us. It was quiet unfortunate and underwhelming. We paid our bill and did not give a tip on the debit transaction because we left cash on the table. Yet she still had the audacity to ask about it on our way out. Maybe she would have gotten a better tip if she ACTUALLY was at our table and was doing a good job. This was not my first time at boathouse, I have been there a few times but it seems like it will be my last.
Great food. Really awful music. Did not suit the room.
Excellent food. Crab and lobster ravioli was fantastic
Celebrating New Year’s Day with family
Good food and good service. A little pricey as the restaurant needs reno.
Food wasn’t as good as usual probably because there were a lot of people for New Year’s Eve. Even though it was a preset menu the food was overcooked.
We’ve spent the past 4 New Years at the white rock Boathouse and it’s always been good. This time however, the food quality went down. Soup was not as hot as it could have been, steak and lobster were both overcooked. Vegetables were good though.
Seems like they had overbooked seating and when we arrived for our 8:00 reservation, we had to wait about 20 minutes for our table. I had asked when I booked the reservation for a window table but we were seated at the back of the restaurant, far from the windows. We have agreed that next New Years we will try another restaurant.
Service was top notch. Prix fixe dinner menu for NYE but enough selection for us to get what we wanted. I got the Mixed Seafood Grill and OH MY GOODNESS it was delicious. I can honestly I do not eat salmon, ever. But I ate it all, it was SO good. And the crab stuffed prawns? Even better than they sound.
And three words; Strawberry. Watermelon. Mojito. SO SO SO good!
Only downfall was our table location, way in the back corner and pretty cramped. I am 6 ft tall, my fiance is 6'4". So I took the less spacious side of the table. Pretty uncomfortable but I managed.
I ordered the Smoked Maple Salmon and it tasted terrible. I’ve dined at this location before and I’ve always had great food here but I was really disappointed. It was cold and tasted off. I had booked via Open Table and stated it was for a birthday however this was not acknowledged and we told the waitress as we were paying our bill and she seemed very nonchalant about it stating that typically when a reservation is made, we should make that known which I did. Overall it wasn’t a good experience. The menu has also changed. I won’t be returned to this location again.
Xmas experience was all we could hope for! Will return next year.
Christmas Day- they had a fixed price menu and ran out of two mains including TURKEY by 7:30?? We also got jipped as our table beside us sat down after us and we ordered our dishes first but were told they were not available while the table beside us got their choices given to them. Their waiter actually told them she had to fight to get the last two servings. Also dessert did not come until after payment?
There seemed to be a strange rivalry or coldness between our waiter and theirs. We didn’t make too much of a fuss because our waiter was good overall considering she was new.
I’d blame management for not planning enough stock for the event.
I am hesitant to write a less than excellent review especially for a restaurant we have frequented in the past. Christmas Dinner was disappointing as my friend was looking forward to Prime Rib while I was relishing a traditional Turkey Dinner. Unfortunately, after ordering our waitress had to inform us they were out of Prime Rib, so he the ordered Filet Mignon. Next she had to come and announce - sorry they are out of stuffing. Disappointed again. The filet mignon came "bloody" - went back on the grill and my Brussel sprouts were the worst I've ever tasted,. Tough & old.
The good part- our waitress was wonderful, ambience great, wine good albeit pricy! Never eaten Christmas dinner at a restaurant before- next year will be up for discussion.
Happy New Year!
IT was our first time out for Christmas dinner. Very lovely. Food was delicious but we were served roasted potatoes even thought the menu stated garlic mashed. We had to ask to have those served. Also peppercorn demi glace was missing off two of our plates so we have to ask for that as well. Server was very apologetic and accommodating. Atmosphere was really nice.
Fantastic service!! Super busy since it was Christmas Eve but they did such an amazing job. The food was delicious and our server was phenomenal
Family Christmas Eve dinner. Our waiter, Chelsea, was outstanding, and a big reason for the 5 stars!
Good good good
Fantastic seafood dinner as always, one of the meals the kids had was a little overdone and dry (sliders). Service was excellent.
We were married that day and went for supper, the meal was excellent, our waiter was great, we had a wonderful meal and were congratulated by our waiter, it was so relaxing and a welcome pace after a hectic day. We would recommend The Boathouse to all our friends, such a great place to have a special meal. Thank you for making our day even more special.
We booked the Boathouse a couple of weeks in advance for the 8:00pm sitting on New Year’s eve for four of us. As a Landry member, I requested a window table. When we arrived, the greeter said our table was being cleared. A couple of minutes later, he took us to our table only to see a couple who had come in after us and were seated at a booth before us, had barged their way onto our table right in front of us! We were then seated in their vacated booth. The greeter was young and probably did not want to ask them to move. Neither did he offer us the next available window table.
The food was marginal and not up to their usual standard but, since we are regulars, we can accept that the kitchen was very busy. Hopefully just a once-off reflection of a busy night.
We were really impressed with the food this visit to The Boathouse. The cab steak was amazing! We heard they have a new supplier and it was noticeable. Their Caesar salad was also amazing and other people in our party enjoyed the maple glazed halibut and the seafood pasta. We had a little human at dinner with us and the server was very understanding and did a great job. It's a little pricey but it's a really pretty atmosphere with the view White Rock Beach and all the Christmas lights at this time of year and it just seemed exceptional this visit.
A good venue for special occasions dining. Excellent food if a bit on the pricey side for casual dining.
Very nice evening out. Server was excellent, no rush or pressure to order etc. Food was excellent.
The Maple salmon was delicious and the service was excellent. The view of decorated interior and trees out side was pleasing.
Noise was very good as it wasn't busy. With only a few customers and tables why was there 10 minutes between 2 entrees for 2 people. will be returning Friday. Otherwise, experience was good.
It was a Thursday night so it was nice and quiet, we were able to sit by the fire which was nice because it was quite cold that night, the service was good and the special we ordered was great. It definitely is one of my favourite boathouse locations.
Our server, Cody, did an excellent job of taking care of us.
Great views. server was pleasant but quite forgetful and it was not a busy day... there were only three tables when we started. Later a Christmas party came in so it got quite noisy but overall it was good experience. They had happy hour specials so good prices but the amount they served was clearly greatly reduced so maybe not such a good deal after all? But it was yummy, especially the coconut shrimp.
It was an especially good meal because it was Lobsterfest, and the steak and lobster was wonderful. It was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the noise level was low, making it easy to converse. The service was friendly and attentive. We will be back.
Always reliable, good menu and prices are reasonable. Great views by the window, in any season. Shared a salad and 9 oz steak with peppercorn sauce and mushrooms, delicious and plenty of food for the two of us. Waiters have been there for many years and are always friendly and helpful. Fish and chips are always good as is the salmon. Wine menu has something for everyone.
My daughter was very happy with her choice for her 13th Birthday!!
thank you to our Waitress :)
Fantastic restaurant experience. We were visiting from SK and having the ambiance overlooking the water and the lit up trees was amazing! We even had a train go by!
Had a wonderful evening as always!
We waited too long to get served probably because when I sat down, I told the waitress my partner was just parking the car. The food and view were excellent. We waited about twenty minutes after we ordered dessert and my partner had to go and find the waitress and ask where was our dessert. She seemed surprised then the manager brought it out. We think she forgot to put the dessert order in.
I've been a regular patron of the Boathouse for a few years although had not been for at least one year when we came on Saturday night. We recommended to our friends that it's a good restaurant.
The food we ordered was ok, my salmon was fine, one of our group had to send her steak back for further cooking, she did ask for rare but it was raw when served. Someone else in our group of 4 said his steak was fatty.
Our waitress was terrible, older lady, fair hair. We felt rushed through the whole meal, she was constantly at our table pressuring us to order our next event. At the end while paying the bill she told us it was her birthday and that she was leaving soon. That explained the rush, she was trying to get us done so she could leave. Why didn't she just pass us onto another wait staff?
Disappointed and won't be back.
