Noise was very good as it wasn't busy. With only a few customers and tables why was there 10 minutes between 2 entrees for 2 people. will be returning Friday. Otherwise, experience was good.
It was a Thursday night so it was nice and quiet, we were able to sit by the fire which was nice because it was quite cold that night, the service was good and the special we ordered was great. It definitely is one of my favourite boathouse locations.
Our server, Cody, did an excellent job of taking care of us.
Great views. server was pleasant but quite forgetful and it was not a busy day... there were only three tables when we started. Later a Christmas party came in so it got quite noisy but overall it was good experience. They had happy hour specials so good prices but the amount they served was clearly greatly reduced so maybe not such a good deal after all? But it was yummy, especially the coconut shrimp.
It was an especially good meal because it was Lobsterfest, and the steak and lobster was wonderful. It was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the noise level was low, making it easy to converse. The service was friendly and attentive. We will be back.
Always reliable, good menu and prices are reasonable. Great views by the window, in any season. Shared a salad and 9 oz steak with peppercorn sauce and mushrooms, delicious and plenty of food for the two of us. Waiters have been there for many years and are always friendly and helpful. Fish and chips are always good as is the salmon. Wine menu has something for everyone.
My daughter was very happy with her choice for her 13th Birthday!!
thank you to our Waitress :)
Fantastic restaurant experience. We were visiting from SK and having the ambiance overlooking the water and the lit up trees was amazing! We even had a train go by!
Had a wonderful evening as always!
We waited too long to get served probably because when I sat down, I told the waitress my partner was just parking the car. The food and view were excellent. We waited about twenty minutes after we ordered dessert and my partner had to go and find the waitress and ask where was our dessert. She seemed surprised then the manager brought it out. We think she forgot to put the dessert order in.
I've been a regular patron of the Boathouse for a few years although had not been for at least one year when we came on Saturday night. We recommended to our friends that it's a good restaurant.
The food we ordered was ok, my salmon was fine, one of our group had to send her steak back for further cooking, she did ask for rare but it was raw when served. Someone else in our group of 4 said his steak was fatty.
Our waitress was terrible, older lady, fair hair. We felt rushed through the whole meal, she was constantly at our table pressuring us to order our next event. At the end while paying the bill she told us it was her birthday and that she was leaving soon. That explained the rush, she was trying to get us done so she could leave. Why didn't she just pass us onto another wait staff?
Disappointed and won't be back.
Food was good, service was lacking. Our drink bill could easily have been tripled if the server noticed our empty glasses and cared to ask if we were interested in another. Our water glasses also remained empty for the duration of our meal.
The service was awesome. The view was outstanding. The food was not acceptable for the cost and the expectations. The portions were very small. Mashed potatoes were child size servings and we paid $3.50 for three slices of zucchini and three slices of steamed carrots. And the appies were the equivalent of pub food.
Great food and fabulous view particularly at sunset.
This was the first time I have been out there. It was absolutely beautiful and we had a great server and food was really good
Excellant food. A bit pricey. Had a Pina Colada that was made from some horrible sweet premixed.
We had an excellent experience at the White Rock Boathouse. Our Server was extremely personable and certainty added to our time there.. It was both my sisters’ Birthday lunch and they enjoyed our time there. All four of the meals were delicious and exactly what we ordered. Our view of the ocean was wonderful and I guess it is safe to say we Will definitely return.
We had an absolutely amazing server who made our experience really great. The food was good, great location.
Felt rushed. Main course came out before appetizer was finished. Table clearing was slow. Server seemed more concerned about his other tables.
When we left we were the only ones there, so yes, very quiet. The food, as usual was excellent. Nothing beats the view!
My only negative comment was the coffee. I had ordered an americano and when I received it, I could immediately tell that something had gone wrong, as I could almost see through the drink meaning it was made incorrectly and fairly weak. After taking a sip, I was correct. It wasn't drinkable. I had them replace it. The replacement came and it was worse. I eventually had it credited off the bill.
The issue was with the service in relation to the drink. In between the first and second drinks, one server had come by and mentioned that she normally works by day on a different bar and the water pressure is different. Another server came by a minute or so later, and claimed she was Portuguese and knew how to make a cup of coffee, compared to other servers present.
I just wanted a nice coffee, never got that, and also had not one but two servers essentially make excuses. I found it unprofessional. Everything else about the evening was absolutely wonderful.
We were celebrating our anniversary and they made it a special experience for us.
It was a really nice night. Our waitress was great without lots of interruptions and the view was perfect. We will be back.
Was fabulous , we had a window seat, saw the sunset, enjoyed the meal, wonderful anniversary dinner.
The food flavor and presentation has gone down while prices have gone up, will not go again nor recommend to friends.
Hostess came over to the "Please Wait To be Seated" counter. I gave my name and time of reservation for two. Hostess started typing on the computer monitor, tore paper off, wrote something down, then raised her head and asked "Do you have a reservation?" What was she doing all that time? She obviously did not hear a word I said and was not looking for a table for us. She then searched and got a table and led us to it, never with a smile. Not a good start. We ordered the Steak & Lobster promoted to us via email. After a long wait, and without any bread served, the meal came. I was so shocked at the look of it - no vegetables at all. Just a steak (which was okay), a small lobster and a lump of mashed potato. It did not look appetizing at all. Due to the shock, we did not notice there was no butter. We had to wait forever - while the food was getting cold - to get the attention of the server who apologized for "Oh, I forgot" about the butter. We were so annoyed that when I asked the bill, I decided to inquire as to whether there was a cost to bread. The server said they were told not to bring bread unless customer asks. Another shock. If you don't want food wasted, all you have to do is ask: Would you like any bread? This is presumably an up-scale restaurant. Nothing about it was even close to normal-scale. Another note: Their Happy Hour drinks and snacks are available only at the bar. We eat out a lot. This is the only restaurant we have encountered that has such restrictions. I think the restaurant is catering only to tourists who visit White Rock for the first time and don't know any better. Don't go there. There are many other great restaurants here, like Washington Avenue Grill, Cosmos Greek, Jan's...
Miso halibut was soggy and should have been crispy. My husbands meal wasn’t very warm. It was just OK nothing outstanding and not as good as we have had in the past.
Food was expensive. I had a salmon burger. The piece of fish was so small i thought they had forgot to put it in my sandwich. It then fell apart as there was too much sauce on it. Service was excellent.
This place needs a good clean up. The carpets are filthy, the stairs and handrails are tacky and worst of all the food quality has gone downhill from times past.
Service was wonderful
Food was great
Arrived at 6:08, checked in and was seated at 6:09. The hostess was nice and said we will be helped shortly. Waited until 6:27 with not a single person speaking to us or asking if we would even like water in our empty glasses. Everyone around us was being helped many times. Several waiters/waitresses looked our way but nobody even spoke to us. My wife and I have never experienced this before.
Decided to leave at this time and let the front hostess know what happened. Will never return to this boathouse again.
Today was my 82nd birthday and I went to dinner with my best friend. We had a wonderful new young lady to serve us, who was very nice and friendly and very helpful. The food we ordered was delivered very quickly and it was FABULOUS. Hot and delicious and lots of it. It was worth every cent we paid for the meal, and then some, I would have paid more.
I was told by the delightful Night Manager that I had a dessert coming for my birthday. I was so full that I asked if I could take it home. Half of my meal was eaten, so I took half home for tomorrow night. The
dessert went home also. I do not remember when I have had such a wonderful dinner as tonight.
I LOVE THE BOATHOUSE IN WHITE ROCK......I will keep going as long as possible.
My wife found the steak had too much pepper, and when the food was delivered they did not ask who ordered medium, who order the medium rare.
I took my Mom who's been having a difficult time with life to enjoy the beautiful Boathouse in White Rock. Of course, the gorgeous ocean view and ambiance in the restaurant are awesome. I have had terrific food here before, but I particularly came for the Steak and Lobster special for $35 the other night. I have to say sadly it was okay, but I've had much better and I'm surprised. The garlic mashed potatoes were not flavorable enough and the steak flavor needed something. I don't expect a big lobster for the special price but this was a junior tiny lobster, smallest I've had to date and I tend to go for Steak and Lobster specials at lots of restaurants. It was just a bit disappointing. My mom had the bacon cheddar burger with wonderful fries which are always amazing and the burger delicious. Thanks but I hope you can improve on the Steak and Lobster .... The service was very good .... Always a great restaurant though, virtually every time.
Our friend’s mom came visit and she’d never been to White Rock, we took her there for dinner and she really enjoyed the food, the view. Great first time experience.
Excellent service by waitress Sam. Accommodated a group of 5 crazy ladies celebrating a 50th birthday
Very small portion for the amount we paid. Would not go back.
Our server was dismissive and the only time she would come over to talk to us was when she suggested to add the most expensive things to our meal without explaining their were other options (less expensive).
Also she tried to over charge us... once we explained the mistake she acted as if it was our fault she made the mistake and tried to over charge us by $75?! This will probably be our last time at white rock boathouse.
Horrible service, forgot our appetizers & didn’t take drink order. Food not as ordered & very bad quality. 2 orders sent back. Incredibly over priced. Won’t return
The patio was wonderful for a late summer dinner in the sunset at the beach.
