Food was excellent, lots of dinner choices. The service was top notch. And of course the view was amazing. Decor was a bit dated but that’s understandable given the restaurant is closing. I think this restaurant will be missed.
My friends from Australia enjoyed their visit to Vancouver and the Boathouse English Bay was a super way to end our visit. Great Food, lovely B.C. wine, super service from Heather - and - an outstanding sun set ! As a West End Resident I am going to miss you after you are gone !
So sad that this location is closing down. My wife and I have enjoyed our time and meals there over the years we’ve gone there either an anniversary or just a date. Thank you so much.
First they say us at a nice table and then Stephanie took our drink orders. Then she blindly threw them on the table and not to the right people without saying a word. Came back and took food orders and criticized what we chose. The appetizers we ordered never came the maple salmon was actually the mango salsa salmon. Our water was never refilled we were never asked for other drinks. We waited 15 min with the dishes piled on the end of our tAble before they were cleared. We had to Wait for her to walk by again to get the bill. Then we sat and waited 25 min while she talked the the table beside us for so long she kneeled
On the floor. We got up and walked downstairs and finally caught the attention from the hostess who eventually helped us.
Server was arrogant and the food did not impress - crab cakes flat flavour, sauces were meh.
We had a lovely evening at the Boathouse English Bay. The meal was very good and the service was outstanding. Our special thanks goes to Stehpanie, our server who went above and beyond making our evening great.
Food was great but we found the establishment outdated. Needs a facelift.
Great food and service
The restaurant wasn't busy but the service was slow. Lobster Bisque was cold, steak had a lot of gristle
Coquille of Seafood Share Platte is so salty. It should be review.
Two of us ate here one evening during our holiday. One meal (ribs) arrived barely warm and was shortly cold. It was sent back. The other meal was excellent but was finished before the ribs returned. They had been cooked again and were therefore dry. So, one good meal and one poor. The Manager handled the situation by cancelling the cost of the ribs.
Our server Daniel was fantastic! The food was delicious :)
Great food and service. No complaints on anything!
Sorry they’re closing soon. The place is great, the location superb.
It was very loud so hard to keep a conversation. Food was amazing and large portions for your money. Amazing sunset views
Most of our dishes were very good.
Few vegetarian options but this is a seafood restaurant.
I did have the penne rustica and I enjoyed it.
Music choice did not fit the dining experience.
We would suggest jazz or classical.
Great food, great service, wonderful view. Wechad a wonderful dinning experience.
Service was essentially the only thing lacking, unfortunately.. however, the food was good. A little over priced. The view is what you pay for! Would go back for the view :)
I did not enjoy my sirloin steak, perhaps because I was unfamiliar with this cut. I did not complain about it but upon seeing it on my plate upon clearing, the manager took it off our bill: that was highly appreciated
Poor food, had lobster tail and was the worst I’ve ever had, sent it back but not any better the 2nd time
Wood not recommend
There was a smell in the restaurant that was not very pleasant. We couldn't figure it where it was coming from.
There should have been at least some fans set up with the AC broken for the upper floors . It wasn’t comfortable sitting through a wonderfully tasty dinner .
Open Table reservation process was terrible. Only times available for table for 6 on Tues. Aug. 7 was 4:00 or 4:15 p.m. on day desired or 2 days later at 9 p.m. Took 4:15 p.m. reservation and when we arrived we were the only clients. When we left only 2 other tables were occupied. Open Table reservation system was ridiculously inaccurate and unhelpful. Last time I will use Open Table for reservations. Boathouse needs to get an accurate reservation service.
The quality of the food is awesome, the service friendly and very good and the view is breathtaking, particularly at sunset!
Appetizers were good we had coconut shrimp and crab cakes. The coconut crusted fish was very bland and we had to add salt it was a let down and it’s pricey.
Beautiful view overlooking the beach at English Bay. The ahi tuna tacos and main dish were both excellent. The maple marinated salmon was also very good. Our waiter, Robert, knew the menu, wines, and neighborhood, who made the entire experience wonderful.
Meh... Red Lobster quality at tourist prices. View was beautiful but food was disappointing and for a half empty restaurant the service was glacially slow.
Excellent food and great friendly service. Food served hot promptly from the kitchen.
The food was terrible and overpriced. We had half rack of ribs that were so tough that are knife could not even cut through it. How could I possibly recommend this to anyone?
Overpriced mediocre food. Extremely hot in the restaurant. Management looked like he was a street person. Not a great evening.
Skip this restaurant while you are visiting the English Bay section of Vancouver.
We came out from ABBOTSFORD. I booked a few days ago on Open Table. Traffic was bad so I called to let them know we would be 10 min late. The girl (and by ‘girl’ I mean she sounded like a young girl and spoke unprofessionally like a young girl) answered and said there was no such name attached to a reservation. I told her I booked on Open Table. She said that there was no reservation and listed off everyone else who had reserved for 5:30. She then asked me if maybe I had called and made the reservation at a different location. I then reiterated that I had booked ion Open Table, not called in a reservation. She seemed confused so I asked if she even knew what Open Table was as she said ‘uh, no’. Who doesn’t know Open Table? Furthermore, shouldn’t someone working at a restaurant the uses Open Table, know what it is? Luckily there was room and we were able to be seated. The person that seated us seemed not fully engaged. It was strange. We were seated and our waitress was awesome. She was Irish we suspected and she was very friendly yet professional and helpful. We were given a couple of buns with butter to start. This is not the bread we remember. Not sure when it changed but even a year or two ago we had lovely warm breakapart our dough bread that was so good. We were really not impressed with the buns which reminded us of discount bulk buns. The food we ordered was good. The prices are too high for the food though. We have JRG S+L in Abbotsford now and the food is actually a bit better and less cost. Overall, we are sadly disappointed with this Boathouse and it has always been our favourite one to go to
Out of country guests
It was our last night in Vancouver before flying home to Ireland after a two week vacation. Robert our server was amazing. He spent time with us discussing the food options as well as having the ability of looking after a massive birthday get together (approximately 30 people!) equally. Outstanding service.
Our last night was made all the more special by the excellent food & Robert’s kind attention.
Our view of the beach as the sun was going down was magical.
They were out if a Rose wine i ordered. They had another Rose fir $6 more. I asked if the manager would honor the price if the less expensive bottle since they were out. He said no. So I told our waiter that I would then spend less and I did! Probably $40 less! They lost $40 over probably a wholesale price difference of $2! I spoke with the manager, Chris after dinner and told him exactly what i just stated here. He just shrugged and walked off.
Food was average at best, service was average. Need to freshen decor as it has really taken a step back since we were last here. Cactus club was rocking out the door, and the Boathouse was half empty on a sunny Saturday evening. Better make changes fast!
The waiter, Travis, was super friendly and helpful. really made my experience enjoyable why I sat and waited for friends.
LOVE the valet service, a real bonus and you can't top the view!
Prices were much higher than I remember them.
It was fantastic, the food was great, the view was great, the service was great. Nothing to complain about it.
Service was pretty awful. After we got seated we waited over 20 minutes to even get water. Our server was apparently too busy to come over, but had plenty of time to mingle with his other tables. We would have walked out, but another server noticed and was kind enough to help us out.
