Great atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff. The special of the night, lobster ravioli was delicious. The side salad was fresh, if ordinary. Second batch of spoon bread fresh from the oven was hot and fluffy, just as I remembered it from years past (first batch had been sitting a bit long).

Lovely establishment and courteous service. Food is good, but perhaps not good enough to justify the prices. Kitchen was short-staffed so service was a bit slow, but the servers were careful to keep us appraised of the situation and kept the drinks and spoon bread coming. They carried it off very well. White chocolate mousse was delicious!

The food was good and the ambience was excellent. However, it took over an hour for our food to be brought to the table from the time that we ordered. It was actually 70 minutes. It's too bad....it is a lovely place.

We stayed at the hotel while we visited old friends. We ate breakfast one morning. The food was great, in particular, the sausage which was from Berea Farm Store. Cheese grits were also wonderful. Warm biscuits with cherry jam, delightful. We would dine here for any meal.

Food was extremely bland. The "signature" chicken dish had almost no chicken (seriously, maybe less than an ounce) and an unappetizing side of canned green beans. The squash ravioli could have been ok if they'd put any sort of sauce on it, but instead they just used some flavorless oil. The server was sweet, but seemed to have too many tables. I would have liked to have ordered another drink, but she never came back until we were finished eating. It was quite a disappointing experience.

It has the look of a fine dining establishment but I was disappointed in the food. I had the Boone Tavern Salad with Shrimp... it was $24... there were 3 shrimp and not much more than a side salad that might come with a steak at any other restaurant with a little cheese, bacon and nuts thrown in the center.

The lobster ravioli was very good. The soup was not hot and strangely tasted like warm applesauce. The salad was extremely overdressed with a very tart vinaigrette. The spoon bread was very good. The meal was very expensive.

Food was Ok! The Shrimp Scampi was almost bland with almost Zero garlic flavor. The Duck was very good was a very next level of seasoning. The quinoa, however, was almost tasteless. This was our first time in many years staying and dining at Boone Tavern and was quite disappointed.

Been a while since we had visited. The cheese board was great. Had to ask for the spoon bread. For some reason the young man serving keep skipping us. The chicken dish was the best along with the hot brown. Do yourself a favor and do not order the duck. Entire dinner had no flavor and the duck was all fat. A chicken thigh would have been tastier.we did bring to the servers attention but she just said …sorry. The catfish looked good but was undercooked and mealy. The bread pudding was more like a cake but non the less tasty. Choc Bundt was tasty. Do not believe I would risk going back for the quality issues and the hefty ticket. Honestly the Cheese board was the best thing . How hard could that be?

My wife and I make it a habit to eat at Boone Tavern every time we come through town. After driving for 7 hours coming from South Carolina we know we can relax with a good meal. It has never disappointed. The food has always been very good and service is excellent. Katy took great care of us yesterday.

Traveling from Lexington to southeastern Kentucky so stopped for lunch. Stopped last month for dinner. Both times service was great, ambiance was pleasant and my dining partners’s meal was very good. I’m a vegetarian and both times my meal was way below par. This time I ordered the black bean burger as it was my only lunch choice besides a salad. My first thought was “really? That’s my choice from a multiethnic college-connected restaurant that must have frequent guests who are not meat eaters?” The burger was dry, tasteless and unimaginative. First and last time on that item. The House potato chips were very good though. Last time I ordered dinner, I ordered the quinoa stuffed peppers which tasted exactly like the burger and I regretted that choice as well. Dry, tasteless and cardboard came to mind. Again, my dining partner’s meal was very good. I love Boone Tavern, and I used to love eating there, but something has changed and it’s not for the better. Please bring back innovative, local farm fresh foods that don’t taste like Cisco foods delivered them. I know a previous chef focused on this sort of menu. Seriously, I’ll pay for better food if it is offered knowing you are surrounded by local and regional farms that would love to supply at least part (if not all) of your featured ingredients. I miss the vegetarian pastas using local seasonal produce, delicious soups, etc. Vegetarian does not mean bland, tasteless food. And vegan and vegetarian are not substitutes for each other so please expand your offerings to include innovative dishes with protein and dairy options. It’s not that hard. Boone Tavern should be a foodie destination showcasing the best of Appalachia not a regret that one did not eat at a local franchise restaurant. I’ll be back but ordering very carefully. Do better.
