   Traveling from Lexington to southeastern Kentucky so stopped for lunch. Stopped last month for dinner. Both times service was great, ambiance was pleasant and my dining partners’s meal was very good. I’m a vegetarian and both times my meal was way below par. This time I ordered the black bean burger as it was my only lunch choice besides a salad. My first thought was “really? That’s my choice from a multiethnic college-connected restaurant that must have frequent guests who are not meat eaters?” The burger was dry, tasteless and unimaginative. First and last time on that item. The House potato chips were very good though. Last time I ordered dinner, I ordered the quinoa stuffed peppers which tasted exactly like the burger and I regretted that choice as well. Dry, tasteless and cardboard came to mind. Again, my dining partner’s meal was very good. I love Boone Tavern, and I used to love eating there, but something has changed and it’s not for the better. Please bring back innovative, local farm fresh foods that don’t taste like Cisco foods delivered them. I know a previous chef focused on this sort of menu. Seriously, I’ll pay for better food if it is offered knowing you are surrounded by local and regional farms that would love to supply at least part (if not all) of your featured ingredients. I miss the vegetarian pastas using local seasonal produce, delicious soups, etc. Vegetarian does not mean bland, tasteless food. And vegan and vegetarian are not substitutes for each other so please expand your offerings to include innovative dishes with protein and dairy options. It’s not that hard. Boone Tavern should be a foodie destination showcasing the best of Appalachia not a regret that one did not eat at a local franchise restaurant. I’ll be back but ordering very carefully. Do better.

   I enjoy bringing friends to experience the Boone Tavern obeisance. I have loved the food and community for many years. My guests were very impressed. Thanks for the dedication to carry on the Boone tradition.

   Enjoyed our evening meal in this beautiful dining room. Choice of sparkling or still water, complimentary spoon bread, and excellent entrees with unique flavors, fresh ingredients and sizable portions. We will return.

    Service was very slow. They seemed to be overwhelmed. Our seats were in a kind of corner and uncomfortable. We had asked for next to the window but didn’t get it.

    This was an excellent experience. From the beginning to end. They have definitely upped their game. Service was excellent. Spoon bread was hot, just as it should be! The food was well prepared with several options. They will work with you on special dietary requests. We were very please!

    Always a pleasure stopping here while passing through on I-75. The menu rotates frequently but always includes the classic spoon bread brought hot to your table with or without butter. I had the Fried Green Tomatoes BLT with pimiento cheese instead of mayo (nominal upcharge); it was outstanding!

    Outstanding unique food, the young lady waiting on us was so friendly. The hotel is so beautiful, it takes you back in time. We would recommend visiting this beautiful place to all are family and friends. We can not wait to go back to try the other menu items. The bread pudding with bourbon sauce was a wonderful comforting end to our meal.

    Hats off to Chef Melissa for her wonderful culinary skills. She has such a great story, will join you for conversation about your meal and even email her recipes to you. Boone Tavern is always a great experience which never disappoints. Bring a good book, sit on the porch, have a nice cabernet and chill…as you look forward to your next superb dining treat. A true diamond nestled in the hills of Central Kentucky.

    Brunch was wonderful. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere in the dining room. Our service was impeccable and timely. Spoon bread was delicious and our experience couldn’t have been better. There was 9 of us so we ordered most of the menu and I would recommend it all.

    We arrived to discover that no credit cards nor checks could be accepted...only cash! After a quick conference to pool our cash, we decided to stay. The dining room was clearly understaffed and the service was slow. Our patience was rewarded, however, with delicious food and friendly staff.

    Outstanding quality food and service. Tables are very nicely socially distanced. We had breakfast and dinner several mornings and nights as we were staying at the hotel, so very convenient for hotel guests.

    What we had last night at Boone Tavern was delicious … but what we didn’t have was notable. We were never offered spoon bread; we asked for drink refills (twice) that never came; and we asked for sweetener for after-dinner coffee but were told that there wasn’t any. The food we DID receive was delicious, and our server was friendly, but the meal overall was disappointing, for what we didn’t get.

    Everyone was super nice. Starting with the hostess stand. Our fabulous waitress was Valerie and Duria shared spoon bread with us. Our table was so pretty and perfect for our party of 8. We had a wonderful time and hope to make this a new tradition. Thanks so much for a special lunch with family.

    We ordered an appetizer the fried tomatoes they were cold. I was there with my two grandsons. They became very restless because the food took so long to get my french fries were cold. What can I say? I probably won’t be back.

    Boone Tavern has an old world elegance and would appeal to those looking for a special occasion formal experience. The spoon bread is always on point. The menu options are a good range of options. The level of quality isn't consistent. I am a tough customer though and have a high bar for standards of quality ingredients and preparation. Prices are fair.

    The service was very slow and we'd have liked to have more spoonbread and refills on our drinks. The fries were cold when brought to the table and a fruit cup was substituted for cheese grits without explanation. One person asked for chicken salad with no onions, the server assured her that was possible, but there were onions in the salad. It's a lovely place, but not up to expectations and reputation.

    We always love to stop at the tavern when we are traveling. Berea is such a charming town, and the Boone tavern gives us the perfect quiet break from the road. The food is good, the white stuff is friendly, and the ambience is relaxing. Just what the doctor ordered!

    First of all, the menu offered no entree options for vegetarian or diners with special dietary restrictions. The spoon bread of which the Inn calls it a specialty, was very disappointing. Too dry would be the best I could say about it. The Turkey entree was disappointing on several levels, noticeably the absence of a gravy to grace the mash potatoes. The stuffing, appearing to have been plated with an ice cream scoop, was no highlight. Finally the Turkey, sliced from some mass produced breast factory had no companion of cranberry sauce instead a teaspoon of spiced apple sat off to the side. My dining companion faced a doubling of the sides but it at best was lacking a choice.
