    We always love to stop at the tavern when we are traveling. Berea is such a charming town, and the Boone tavern gives us the perfect quiet break from the road. The food is good, the white stuff is friendly, and the ambience is relaxing. Just what the doctor ordered!

    First of all, the menu offered no entree options for vegetarian or diners with special dietary restrictions. The spoon bread of which the Inn calls it a specialty, was very disappointing. Too dry would be the best I could say about it. The Turkey entree was disappointing on several levels, noticeably the absence of a gravy to grace the mash potatoes. The stuffing, appearing to have been plated with an ice cream scoop, was no highlight. Finally the Turkey, sliced from some mass produced breast factory had no companion of cranberry sauce instead a teaspoon of spiced apple sat off to the side. My dining companion faced a doubling of the sides but it at best was lacking a choice.

    The menu was limited. The staff while polite were rushed, and seemed anxious to turn the tables. It was Thanksgiving and I'm sure everything was stretched to the limit. The food was all good but nothing exceptional this visit. We had a great time.

    It was awesome, great escape from nearby Lexington. Stress levels declined, very courteous environment. Food was delicious, beds were very comfortable. Shopping was fun in this artisan setting. Thanksgiving Day at the Boone Tavern and in Berea was just what we needed.

    Food was of poor quality for the amount charged. We have eaten at Boone Tavern several times over the past years and found the food at this holiday meal to be substandard. As an alum of Berea College, I looked forward to dining there again but found the food substandard and was very expensive.

    We went there because we had heard the staff were mostly students from the University. Turned out not to be the case the night we went. The onion soup was good. I had the salmon, which was also good. My husband had chicken picatta, which was dry. The wait staff kept dropping things the whole time we were there. Our wait person was pleasant, but seemed distracted. I wouldn't recommend.

    We always stay there on the way and back to visit relatives for thanksgiving. Both Monday 11/21 and Friday 11/25 the dining room was out of derby pie. How can you be out of your signature dish?? I even asked the server to save me one for dessert when I was ordering (saw pie being served at that time) Very disappointed The penne pasta was not penne but rather corkscrew pasta and very dry

    The filet mignon had no flavor to it at all. It was tough to cut. I ordered mine medium well and the inside was bloody and raw. It was paired with mashed potatoes that were extremely bland. It was also served with a side of brussel sprouts, but they were over cooked and almost unrecognizable. Another person at our table orders the chicken and that had a little more flavor to it. Overall, it was way overpriced for what we were served.

    Nice spot if you find yourself in Berea. Nice ambiance and food was good. Enjoyed the French onion soup best of all. Sweet potato fries were too salty and not hot. Had Hot Brown and burger and we enjoyed both.

    Beautiful dining room with new furnishings and lovely evening ambience. Food was delicious with lots of dietary options on the menu for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. And, of course, spoonbread! Guests with me shared how classy they felt the experience was - this was their first time to experience Boone Tavern.

    Mediocre dining experience, especially given the price point. The cornbread was great and warm. The deviled eggs were delicious. Those two items were the highlight of the meal. And my wife ordered the salmon. She was told that the sauce was premixed and could not be altered which was a disappointment for what was thought to be fine dining. When served her rice was cold at this point she had given up, and would not even say anything to the waitress. Shrimp and grits were passable, but had an institutional flavor to them. The drinks were short on pour, and no cocktail menu was available. Only a list of white spirits were available.

    Pleasant atmosphere with a variety of brunch options. All four of us at the table had different menu selections and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Reasonably priced as well.

    Even though the wine is pricey, the menu is top quality We love traveling here with our dogs. The hotel stay is comfortable, beautiful and you can eat at the restaurant or choose room service

    Beautiful building and dining room. Friendly and courteous staff. Limited menu but very good and quick to table. One of the best tasting coffees I’ve had in a while. Service was a little slow, but super friendly and accomadting when asked for things. Will definitely be back. Thanks!

    Food was good and served well. My guest liked her Chicken dish and sides. No complaints but would like to see an upgrade to the menu. Our deserts were very good and server was excellent.

    Three of 7 diners had to change choices because kitchen had run out of the items. Food was not hot. Recipe for spoon bread not like the old one; this one was dry. Dining room is lovely & server was friendly & helpful.

    Wonderfully historic setting, felt a little like you are detached from the world for your dining. Friendly service and classic Spoonbread offering for the table to start on. Cocktails were crafted with your choice of liquor and the wine list was decent. Highly recommend the signature dishes, Chicken Flakes in a birds nest and the Classic Boone Tavern Hot Brown. These are 80 and 100 year old recipes, our dinner guests ordered these and they were authentic. A little bit of a wait for the meal after ordering left me desiring a more spectacular flavor and taste experience, with the Ribeye special, it just was not there. Dessert offerings are plentiful, and enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. A toast to keeping it classic!

    The "special" rib eye was tough and fatty. I ordered it cooked medium well and received a very rare steak. My wife had the Kentucky Hot Brown and was not impressed by the floury cheese sauce and the soggy toast. The atmosphere is excellent, but the food not so much. The tell is that at 7 pm on a Saturday night the place was on 1/3 full. Definitely not the place it was 20 years ago.

    For a nice relaxing meal while visiting Berea, this is the place to go! They host a lot of events so plan ahead and make a reservation. Make a weekend out of it and stay at the hotel.
