   First time visiting the restaurant. Very impressed with the staff and the service. Would definitely recommend to friends and family to visit. Will definitely be back perhaps for the Wednesday Date Night promo.

    Our server Luigi was amazing! HE was very personable and made sure that we had a memorable evening that we still continue to talk about! Food was fast and hot as well as delicious, coupled with the setting of the old school house it was a fantastic night!

    Overall a good experience. This was not our first experience with Borealis. One of our favorite spots. We enjoy the consistency of the food and the attentive service. Date night was very busy and felt like the service suffered because of that. Most of the food, was excellent. Dessert, we took to go and the cake was disappointing. Assume this is one off and the next time will be better.

    We had the most enjoyable evening! Loved the atmosphere and the unique history of the building. The staff was absolutely amazing and accommodating! Prices were very reasonable and the food was delicious. We are definitely looking forward to going back and trying more of the of the dishes.

    I had the 2 piece buttermilk fried chicken with sweet potato fries (comes with garlic aioli) and coleslaw. Compared to another time when I had this, the buttermilk fried chicken was pretty bland. The cooking oil needed to be changed, as it tasted how food fried in old oil tastes. The sweet potato fries were decent but the aioli tasted to me like Caesar salad dressing, rather than aioli. The coleslaw was without dressing (or, if it had dressing, it was so scant that it was not detectable) but tasty because the ingredients were fresh and the flavour of the vegetables used were pleasant. The server was friendly, and appropriately attentive. He seemed bothered when we did not order drinks and then definitely when we did not order dessert. The atmosphere is always nice. It was not overly busy so the volume was such that we could carry on a conversation without having to raise our voices above the volume of the room. What I like best is like they use local ingredients, which makes it worth the price of admission. If they elevated the flavour of the food, it would be great value because the prices are comparable to any other dine in restaurant these days. I only say No because we came again on my recommendation, and I would probably try somewhere else instead (unless the person I was recommending to wanted the local farm to table experience).

    I met 3 friends for a late lunch. In the restaurant, there was no music playing and after inquiring, the server said something was wrong with the sound system. The entire restaurant was silent except for loud voices coming from a large party taking place in the lower level. The ambience and environment was dull and uncomfortable. The server was complaining to us about how everything is falling apart, first the sound system and the $7000 fridge that requires replacing. It was terribly awkward listening to him ramble on to us about his frustration with his workplace. However, the worst part was how our server addressed my friend. English is her second language and when she asked questions about the menu, the server was rude and dismissive of her asking about dietary options available. He continually interrupted her, had a harsh, foul tone in his voice as he talked at her, and rolled his eyes as she was struggling to read the menu. It was completely unacceptable behaviour and made us all feel disgusted to be guests at this restaurant.

    Sadly the service was inconsistent and slow. Drinks and food came at awkward times. Music could not be heard over the chatter of people, then when it slowed down, the music sounded like a radio station. The lighting is really bad upstairs, it isn’t light or dark, it is in the middle where it feels like dusk, and makes one sleepy. Overhead lighting is mostly always a miss at restaurants. The chairs are awkward, heavy and too deep. Table was very small and basic. The seafood curry was good, but should come with rice. The sisters bowl was a great concept, but sadly the flavour profile was really one dimensional. I had to ask for hot sauce to add some flavour. They brought me a small ramekin with Franks Red hot sauce (is Franks local?) instead of the hot sauce they sell in the restaurant. And then, they charged me a $1 for the hot sauce. This has never happened to me before. I hate that this was our experience as I wanted to love this local, in-season restaurant. But, will not be back.

    An awesome local treat, serving predominately local fare that is expertly prepared. All this with an environmental conscious and a dedication to promoting local businesses and producers. Great ambiance. Butternut squash ravioli is not to be missed! Our server (Luigi) was as pleasant a person as you'd ever wish to meet. We highly recommend a trip to Borealis, whenever you might be in KW. Cheers!

    Excellent food but it’s the service that really stands out here. Shout out to Luigi !! We sat near the front windows which was a little cool so take a sweater.

    In town for one night and we are very happy that we chose Borealis for dinner. Even with the terrible winter storm, staff were polite and courteous. We will definitely return when in the area.

    We came in for the first time for our anniversary and we were very disappointed. Made a reservation and it seemed to be a hassle where to seat us so this made it look disorganized. Our waitress didn't see if we wanted another drink , not attentive and hard to get a hold . We asked for med rare steaks we got rare-blue . We tried to eat half but couldn't stomach it as the cook was terrible . This was such a disappointing experience as we were told great things about Borealis. Although the ambiance and atmosphere were amazing and super romantic , we Unfortunately will not be back

    We have been here many times, and always love the food. Last night was good, food, arrived very fast, but food was a little on the cold side, so not sure it was made fresh for us. Did not warrant sending the food back/wasting it, but the fries, chicken and burger should be serve right out of the fryer/grill.

    Great place for lunch or dinner. Decor of the old schoolhouse restoration was very well done, takes you back to those days... Service is always the best. I feel like I am their only customer, very attentive to my needs. A lot of local food and veg options available.
