Just celebrated my wedding anniversary with my wife at Boulevard over the weekend.
The service was fantastic and the food was excellent.
The best date night in 13 years of marriage. Very romantic with the low light, candles and flowers. Very well taken care of by the waitress and staff. Food was incredible, drinks very tasty! Overall best experience ❤️ Can’t wait to experience again!
Food was good but not great and should have been better considering the prices. My salad of tomatoes and burrata had only a tiny serving of burrata, less than half what we usually expect; and my seafood pasta had a tasty sauce but minimal seafood. (Two small shrimp, five small mussels, two small clams!) My wife had six tiny oysters at $4 each followed by the Quail special. Good taste but a single quail, two mushrooms, and a small portion of vegetable ($44) is not a satisfying meal. Bread is not served unless you pay for it.
There is no sound barrier between the bar and the dining room, the acoustics are bad, and the music loud, so normal conversation was impossible. We and every other set of diners were forced to shout to each other across the table. Not a pleasant ambience and not what we expect at an upscale restaurant.
Unfortunately I was ill later at night from the oysters. I am not allergic to shell fish. Very disappointed. Rest of dinner was excellent.
Good food and great environment!
Will go there again
It was a birthday dinner and I called up earlier to have a candle on the dessert.
The server was way to attentive, almost felt like rushing. The light is dimmed to the point you need your phone light to read the menu. The food looked great and tasted delicious but you had to turn the phone light to see the presentation.
The servers and managers wear a visor which feels not fastened and may fall off, which adds a level of stress.
They ran out of candles...what a let down.
Food is okay! Service are slow. We have to wait for 45 minutes before the food came out.
Awesome! Food was perfect, service was great!!!!
Having heard about so man recent accolades bestowed upon the restaurant, I worry that my expectations were simply too high. My main (lingcod) was a decent restaurant main, but nothing outstanding. My husband ordered the special which was hen or squab with risotto, and we both felt that his risotto was undercooked (it felt crunchy). Our appetizers were again okay, but nothing special.
I was also disappointed by the dessert options knowing that Canada's Best Pastry Chef works for Boulevard. We chose the strawberry dessert, one of two options, and while it was the best thing we ate all night, it wasn't the best dessert in the city.
The service provided was impeccable and they made our birthday so special. The food was absolutely delicious and we would love to go back!
Yesterday was my boyfriend’s birthday, we had an appointment at Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar, they were so nice to prepare a handwriting birthday card for him and the service was fantastic! Food, atmosphere and everything was amazing last night, and we indeed had a good time there
Amazing as always. Thank you.
Always outstanding service and friendly staff. Enjoyed a delicious early evening dinner meal. Appys and mains were on point never disappoints. Desserts amazing as always. Social distancing was very good along with BLVD's own btl hand sanitizer at each table.
Enjoyed Roger Ma’s fabulous quail! Finger licking good!!! A treat to have JP try the Phantom Creek wines too. And the service From Francesca was spot on!
Tables adjacent to the added dining room (formerly banquet space) have a LOT of foot traffic from customers and staff very close to tables. Otherwise, fantastic as usual.
Social Distancing is done very well. Cant wait to go again. So Tasty!
Great service, very welcoming menu just a bit limited and dull.
We were extremely impressed with our entire experience at Boulevard, celebrating a special birthday. The service was very professional and attentive, but also friendly and respectful. They seemed to be genuinely interested in making sure we had the best possible experience. For example, we inquired about whether a tasting menu was offered and our waiter initially told us it was not, due to Covid-19. We must have looked a bit disappointed, as this was a special birthday, and we had previously been offered a tasting menu on a similar occasion in the past, but resigned ourselves to ordering a la carte without complaint. A couple of minutes later one of the senior servers came to the table and told us that the chef would be happy to put something together for us. They suggested a 7-course menu for $150 and matching wine flights for $75 per person. While a bit on the steep side, we decided to splurge.
The sommelier, J.P. Potters (who doubles as the executive GM, apparently) was the most knowledgeable we've come across in any restaurant in BC, poured the wines, and gave a superb introduction to each, without being pretentious in any way. The wines were uniformly excellent (as one would expect at the price point). With a tomato-infused paella-like seafood rice, he poured both a Pinot Noir (a surprising pairing with a shellfish-based dish, but it actually worked really well), and a slightly off-dry rose, and asked our opinion as to the better pairing. The food was uniformly outstanding, and extremely artfully presented.
All the staff work masks (properly!), tables were spaced > 2 metres apart, and there was hand sanitizer at the table.
While hardly inexpensive, we felt we got our money's worth, and honestly as good a meal as we've had anywhere in BC, ever, period. This will be our go-to restaurant for special occasions and out-of-town visitors for sure.
The food and service were incredible!! Will definitely return.
Our experience was good overall. Its just that when we asked our server to recommend dishes, it's like he doesn't have a good knowledge with it. He just gave us a very general answer and more like "it's up to you" kind of response.
Spent $500 for terrible food
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Boulevard. The food and service was excellent and we would certainly recommend it to anyone. Happy hour is really good.
Well worth a visit.
Kudos to the Team...
I enjoyed the dishes...but not enough selection...This is my second time at The Boulevard Restaurant and Oyster Bar...Value wise its average...
More Power and All the Best!!!
Loved everything. I will be coming back when next I am in Vancouver.
Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar did everything possible to ensure a safe and memorable dinner. It was a celebration evening. We were welcomed with glasses of champagne and enjoyed a second personally messaged dessert. The food and selected wine were topnotch from oysters and appetizers to mains and dessert(s). Service was very attentive and just personal enough. Highly recommended. Will return soon.
We had a special tasting menu prepared by Chef Daniel Kim that was delightful, all the food was incredibly well seasoned, fresh, and presented nicely. The service was attentive but not intrusive, overall a great experience. The only complaint would be the music was slightly too loud.
Highly recommended to others, and will return.
My friend and I decided to sit inside. My seat was facing a bar, well stock. I call it an invitation to have a drink.
Pop in my mind all kind of drinks but I decided to be reasonable and order a glass of wine.
My discovery is they have a good selection of wine. My wine was excellent and brought to me promptly.
What a way to start an evening: good service and wine.
I order some foods. Appetizers was delicious and well presented. It has been a wild since a plate was looking good as important as tasting good.
Main dish did not disappointed me. Finally the desert came it look so beautiful that i did not wanted to eat it. With little courage, I put the fork into it and slowly let it melt into my mouth. Oh, I was happy to know they have a pastry chef.
I recommend to always eat where there is a chef and a pastry chef because the experience will be worth it. I brought home a pastry for my wife to discover how joyful a pastry can be when all ingredients harmonize together.
Thank you all for the service I received. Lovely evening!
We had a very enjoyable dinner. The seafood was prepared perfectly. Why not a better rating? The menu lacks imagination — expertly prepared but nothing memorable. The service was efficient but stiff. The decor is dreadful. It’s like eating in a lobby with no character at all. In short, you’ll have a very good meal here but if you are looking for a special evening out then go elsewhere.
One of the best meals downtown. Friendly professional staff. Food presentation and quality are the best. I wouldn’t have find this place if not for Dine out Vancouver and the favourable reviews from AM1470. So glad I found this place and will definitely come back. Only thing is the lightning was a bit dark and music a bit loud for conversation. We love all three courses. Americans coffee was sooo smooth! Thanks for a lovely evening!
Excellent dining experience. Great food, service and ambience. Hanger steak was delicious. Looking forward to trying lobster mac and cheese next time.
The food was amazing! I will retourn on my next trip in Vancouver.
The receptionist was rude. Food was good. Server was good.
Everything was incredible. Our food was perfect, our server was great. Definitely would recommend going here.
Came here for our anniversary and loved it. the staff and chefs were awesome and that is why we keep on coming back!
Wild. Absolutely amazing. Service was stellar, food was stellar. We left so happy with what we had been a part of. What a treat.
Exceptional food and service. I recently moved to Vancouver and didn’t know much about the restaurant, but it was truly exceptional. Not only was the food fantastic but also the service left nothing to be desired. The staff went over and beyond the call of duty to take care of me. Upon finding out that I was new to the city they offered excellent recommendations and insights into the city. I will be going back often.
Excellent food and service! Seafood Tower a must! Double birthday celebration made more special with the complimentary desserts cake 😊 will come back for sure!
Roger executive chef came out to greet us made us feel very special also the dessert was amazing!!
We try to come here for our anniversary every year and we consider ourselves quite lucky to be able to do it again this year. With social distancing and rules in place, our dining experience remained the same if not better. The staff and server was very accommodating while also keeping cleanliness and safety in mind. We had a great time! Thank you for a memorable night 🙂
