Guests can choose to dine in the outdoor sidewalk café, main dining room, lively bar or private Cognac Room as they enjoy meals complimented by over 85 varieties of cognac and a gorgeous wine list including first-growth Bordeaux and Burgundies offered by the glass of bottle.

Brasserie Cognac East is laid out on two levels. You gain the upper floor through a steep spiral staircase. Our table was the minimal definition of surface allowing you to lay two playes and two glasses without them falling on the floor. Access to the table needed finesse not to dislodge the table next to us - very closely next to us. Fortunately, there were no neighbours or else we would have been dining with them. Upon arrival (winter night requiring coats, scarves and hats), we were informed that there was no possibility to check in our coats - given the exiguous space, another source of annoyment with the coat ends dragging on the floor. Service was very good, so were the cocktails. Escargots nothing special, steaks typically overcooked: medium rare was medium, medium was well-done. Fries were saggy. Champignon fricasse oily. The best: a chocolate soufflé worth waiting the 10-20 minutes announced by the waiter (it´s 20 minutes). For the 100$ per person with one glass of wine and one drink, there are better places.

Sat upstairs, which we love as its more intimate and quiet, although the whole restaurant is not large. We love steak frites, which they have officially taken off the menu. But they now have sirloin steak plus french fries, with bernaise. I think steak frites is skirt or hanger steak, but this was good too.

This is true neighborhood gem. The food is consistently excellent, additions to the menu are always good and they'll cook any special orders ala carte. The wait staff is professional, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The room has great ambiance. Overall a wonderful spot.

I brought my daughter here for a girls dinner. We enjoyed it a lot. She had the ratatouille. I asked her her how it compares to the one she had in France. She said it was good! I had the duck legs over lentils. Lovely blend of herbs. Really delicious. We would come again.

A wonderful experience! As soon as you enter you feel transported to elegant Paris. We dined off the restaurant week dinner menu. My husband had the duck confit with lentil ragú which he really enjoyed and I had the ratatouille casserole. It had a good flavor but could have used some rice or pasta- it was really sliced vegetables with tomatoes alone. The escargot were delicious.

one of my favorite lunch venues. Unfortunately, the of pleasure yesterday's lunch was interrupted by the noise from a nearby table, making conversation impossible. There is a reason why this place has been in business for a long time. Good service and good food, in a place that has a real neighborhood hangout vibe. (In a fairly affluent neighborhood.) It's always busy, especially for brunch. So make sure you make a reservation.

Cognac Brasserie East was a true delight. Their Beef Wellington was one of the best that I've ever experienced and the service was on point with Wilson as our waiter. He was attentive but not overly so. New Year's Eve was a special affair with lovely and festive decorations and a lively Jazz ensemble. Their special menu for the evening included many wonderful options including two fish dishes and also a vegetarian option. I was amazed at how organized the staff was; everything went like clockwork. It was clear that many of the diners were regulars, pointing at how beloved this restaurant really is. Highly recommend.

Another wonderful dinner! You are my favorite place in the hood. If I could have your Scottish salmon everyday, I would! Tried the fondue for the first time and it was really yummy! Will definitely do that again! merci cognac!
