CAN$30 and under
Regional American (Northwest)
brix restaurant & wine bar was one of the first restaurants in the development of Vancouver’s historic Yaletown quarter as a destination for casual fine dining. Opening in April 1999 in a turn-of-the-century heritage building on Homer Street it quickly became known for its innovative food, an extensive, well priced wine list, and its warm and inviting atmosphere amid the high-beamed ceilings and original exposed-brick walls. A unique glass covered key hole courtyard is one of the city's top restaurant patios and is the only Yaletown outdoor dining space opened past 11pm. An elegant dinner features a wide range of seafood, game, meat and poultry dishes and close proximity to the theatre district makes the light early dining menu a perfect pairing. Brix is also a favourite for the late-night crowd, too, offering great late-night dining into the wee hours. Vancouver's top cocktail lounge, George, is only a flight of stairs away down on Hamilton Street.

It is a beautiful restaurant with cozy ambience. The patio is romantically decorated. Ingredients for food are very fresh. Food is delicious and yet, plating may not be the finest. Service is professional but lacks authenticity.

My husband and I were married at Brix last year and we decided to come back to celebrate our anniversary. The staff really did an exceptional job to make us feel welcome and special, complete with a choice of any table in the house, and complementary glasses of bubbly upon arrival. The food is always exceptional at Brix, our server Torsten is an absolute gem, and our entire evening felt romantic and flawless. I would highly recommend Brix for their excellent food and personal service.

Went here on a Wednesday, the place was not to busy. The environment was quiet and comfortable. Great atmosphere for a romantic evening. Service was great, wish I remembered my servers name so I could write a positive review about her. Overall nice place. I recommend the duck entree on the menu, though I wish it had more.

The Brix was our first and best evening out in Vancouver. Beautiful restaurant inside and out. We had a wonderful waiter named Devon. The menu and food was exceptional. Started with risotto which was a little too rich for me due to the large serving but tasted amazing. Had the Blackend Rougheye and corn grits which was really good. My husband had the local catch of the day which was salmon and scallops perfectly prepared. The owner came around and asked how are dinner was which was really apreciated. I highly recommend this restaurant for it's food, ambience, and price point.

I had the albacore tuna takaki to start and it was so wonderful and fresh. The tuna was fresh and flavorful and the greens underneath were arugala, watercress and cliantro. The combination with the ponzu vinagrette and spicy peanuts will make me come back again during my week in Vancouver. I then had the salmon special - even better than the appetizer. The chef sure knows how to combine flavors - every bite tasted like the first bite. AND, sitting in the courtyard was a VERY pleasant experience...This restaurant was a great find.

The courtyard is candle lit, and inviting. The dining room elegant and subdued. A variety of daily features, including appetizer, Surf and Turf allow repeat visitors to never get bored. The food is perfect, but often very rich. Most of it local and very fresh. Some wonderful vegetarian choices, lots of large sides at reasonable prices. I had the heirloom tomato and radish salad, and a side of risotto (huge). We shared the creamed chanterelles on Texas toast. My buddies started with the tuna tataki salad and the lamb bacon (read the menu online), and they both had the fish of the day, which was Cohoe Salmon with Scallops. We nibbled on the peanut butter cheesecake which was light enough to be considered a mousse, garnished with slivered banana topped with brûlée sugar and a peanutty crunch. The Joie rosé was the perfect compromise for red and white wine drinkers, definitely not a blush Zinfandel! Service was friendly and polished, without being stuffy. The gradual decline of the sun in August from dim to dusk made our exit from the candlelit courtyard quite special. Very good value for exceptional dining.

I loved the atmosphere sitting in the covered atrium between buildings with the enormous chandelier and contemporary vibe. The food was perfectly cooked (salmon medium rare and muscles large and tender). I especially enjoyed the lamb bacon salad. Portions were moderately sized. Enjoyed the wine flights.

We spent a very pleasant evening at Brix . The food, cocktails and service were all most acceptable. We were seated in the cobbled courtyard which meant a slightly sloping table but that sort of added to the ambience. Unfortunately there was a large and rather noisey group nearby. The high ceiling made them even noisier!

We were seated immediately, the service was friendly, even funny at points, informative, non intrusive, and showcased forethought and awareness. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxing. The wine recommended to pair was luscious. Truly an excellent experience and we will go back !!

Had a wonderful dinner outside in the courtyard that was memorable and we thought was a good value given the high quality of the food. We started with a delicious cheese tray and nuts. I had great sockeye salmon and there were a lot of reasonable interesting wine pours. Very good creme brûlée. A winner meal.

Took my fiancé here to show him how good the food in Vancouver is. He was not disappointed! Days later, he is still raving about the lamb bacon. It was delicious, melt in your mouth, and added the perfect punch to the dishes we tried. The server was great, and remembered to wish us a happy anniversary near the end of our meal. We had hoped to sit outside, but the day was rainy and cold. We sat inside, but there was a large (20+) party that was very loud. The outdoor garden area is beautiful, the indoor decor is pretty but simple. Overall, it was an excellent experience. We will definitely be back.

Chose this restaurant based on reviews especially of the relatively low sound level. The four of us were all from out of town and brix did not disappoint. We were able to actually hear each other. The menu was diverse and creative. Each of us ordered a different entree and there were raves all around. The portions were right sized. The setting is lovely and although we didn't eat in the courtyard (which did seem noisier) our table by the window was perfect. Would definitely recommend.

This was a birthday celebration and confirmed this when making the reservation. The waitress did not extend any birthday wishes even after seeing us make a toast. I would have liked a little fuss, some acknowledgement. Service is the reason I would hesitate to come back here. The waitress served our meal before getting drinks on the table. One of our group does not eat red meat and asked if the bacon could be removed from the mussels which wasn't a problem however, she ordered the salmon special for dinner which came with bacon in the rice and the waitress had not mentioned this when she ordered. I had the squid which was tasty (but not as good as the wok fried squid at Cardero's). Also I was waiting on a glass of wine which arrived when I was basically finished eating. Mains were good but I didn't eat anything that was a stand out or that I need to come back for. It's a lovely setting and on a summer night very beautiful but the experience fell a little flat due to the service.

The restaurant doesn't cater to families who enjoying fine dining with their children. Most fine dining restaurants who don't have kid friendly menus offer to make pasta or some other meals. This restaurant doesn't have either. The only choice is to choose appetizers from the menu or split one of their main entrees.

We went to Brix to celebrate a friend's birthday and to check out where another friend's son was having his wedding next August. Really enjoyed the whole experience and will go back for sure. We went early to ensure we would be outside in their lovely patio. Love that it is totally covered in glass to extend the outdoor dining range. Service was attentive and the food was excellent.

Food was amazing! Pork loin entree was very moist and potato was crispy. Mussels in the white wine sauce was divine. Service was very poor though. I got there and was expecting valet parking. Had to wait in the car a while to wave someone over as he was staring at his phone and when he came, he said he was off already but he agreed to park the car. Dinner service was terrible as our waiter was never there. We flagged down another staff to fetch our waiter for us as we've been sitting there too long waiting. She left before taking my girlfriend's order after we ordered only one entree and appy. Paying the bill, she just kept staring at my girlfriend uncomfortably. For a fine-dining restaurant, I wish the service matched the food. It was only 9pm. The restaurant closes at 1am. Service shouldn't drop so early.

Our party of 5 recently dined at Brix. When booking our online reservation, we had requested a round table for easier conversation. To our delight, when we arrived, there was our round table situated in the middle of the courtyard patio. The setting was great, with the changing mix of daylight and magical lighting as the sun set. The serving staff were very helpful and attentive, and really helped make the dinner special. The food was good, but there was a consensus that perhaps too much use of 'heat' in terms of peppers/spice on our various dishes that overpowered the key ingredients a bit. Still, it was certainly well presented and the portions were generous. Other guests appeared to be couples and groups of 4 to 6 people. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and the patio has a very romantic ambiance, as if sitting in a street cafe in an old European city. I would certainly recommend Brix.

Best dinner during our 5 day stay in vancouver. They have a quaint outdoor courtyard area which seems like it is open year-round, as covered and with heaters. The service was great - our server and the owner/manager were very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing - we got a Thai coconut salmon special and the lingcod fish with an Indian fusion.

The protected courtyard provides a lovely setting for warm-weather dining. A weekly menu spotlights attention on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Service is impeccable. The wine list is comprehensive if a bit pricey. The food was high value. We'd definitely recommend, particularly for a romantic dinner in a quiet atmosphere where a conversation can be heard.

Found this gem on Tripadvisor; we were in Vancouver only for 2 days. Originally booked this with the fixed price early evening menu in mind but we decided to go 'a la carte'. Turned out to be a great choice. The service was excellent, food arrived promptly and the flavour combinations were 'out of this world'. If ever we're back in the area, we'll head straight there. I think we just experienced the perfect meal. The food at Brix was amazing, the service impeccable . We shared the squid appetizer which was tender and perfectly seasoned, we then moved on to mussels for him, beet salad for me, both brilliantly prepared . The sole entree was spectacular. Everything was prepared so well . Nothing was over seasoned or sauced. Russell took exceptional care of us, and we finished with the s'mores . We can't wait to return, the courtyard is gorgeous. Thank you
