EATING ON THE PATIO AT BROWNES IS A GREAT PLEASURE, WITH ONLY THE SNARLS OF RACING PASSING TRAFFIC TO DISTURB THE CALM. MAYBE EVEN A CLOTH SCREEN ACROSS THE TOP END OF THE PATIO MIGHT HELP. THE INDOOR EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN GREAT FOR YEARS, BUT FOR NOW THE PATIO SEEMS SAFER..

FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, THOUGH NEEDED TO HAVE BEEN HOTTER TO COMPENSATE FOR OUTDOOR EATING. AND I PREFER TO HAVE MY LIVER CUT THICKER LIKE A STEAK RATHER THAN THIN.

We went to this quaint restaurant yesterday evening, July 28, 2020.
It was fantastic !
The menu has so many wonderful choices that I had a hard time choosing !
The drink menu is plentiful (a little rose choice would have been appreciated) and there was something for everyone.
When the food came, it was presented beautifully and tasted phenomenal.
The dessert we had was a lemon cheesecake with a raspberry coulis and it was to die for.

I will DEFINITELY be returning to this gem !!

Their first night open for patio service. Food was delicious. Floral planters would make the dining experience a little prettier, but I did appreciate the who tablecloth.

Our waiters were attentive and very pleasant. Menu is limited but can be more interesting with daily specials. I had halibut in a creamy mango sauce w vegetables. It was ok. My husband had lamb—also good but not wow! Wines by the glass could be much better—greater selection by the bottle. Very quiet on a Saturday night so you can have a decent conversation.

First time at Brownes, but won't be our last! From the moment we walked in, it felt cozy & knew we were going to enjoy the vibe. Next then food...from the home made bread at the start to the tiramasiu at the end...and everything in between. All of it was delicious! Recommend the salmon for sure. As a tea drinker, the Tetley offer topped off my night :) Thank you for a great evening & dining experience!

Have been to Brownes Bistro many times in the past 3 years and each and every time the food has been excellent.

Please change the music to French.

I have never regretted going to Brownes Bistro - I only have one very minor nit pick - I like to have mint sauce on my lamb chops!
I rate it ten out of ten.

The quality of food was excellent, we really enjoyed our dinner and would definitely recommend this restaurant to all.

Went for Winterlicious. 3 courses - all outstanding - great selection. Had squash and pear soup which was delicious - salmon with a pesto beurre - green beans and broccoli and fingerling potatoes - the salmon was perfectly cooked - the desert was a fruit compote with french vanilla ice cream over a crumble - all this for $23 - good service- it's a small french bistro in the traditional style so lovely ambience. My second favourite winterlicious spot after Canoe. Highly recommend it.

Our group of 9 went to Brownes Bistro for the Winterlicious 2020 lunch with a reservation. Our table was prepared and waiting for us when we arrived and were immediately seated. The ambiance was good - simple and not overwhelmingly cluttered. The noise level was alright, we were able to carry on a conversation amongst across the long table with no added effort.
There was a little wait before our orders were taken, as the restaurant was quite busy, and there is only one cook in the kitchen. A little glitch on those who ordered soup as they were given salads, which the diners accepted with no fuss.
The food tasted excellent. Some had the Atlantic Salmon topped citrus-herb-lime infused butter with potatoes and french green beans on the side, and some the Top Sirloin Burger with portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions , blue cheese with side of fries. The dessert of Brownies and Apple Crisp, both with French Vanilla ice cream clears the palate. The crisp in the Apple crisp is a bit bitter, perhaps a bit overbaked but the sweetness of the syrup neutralizes the bitterness.
Our group left happy and full. Will definitely be back again.

Two old guys enjoyed everything about Browne's Bistro. The food - soup, burgers, sorbet, brownies - was as good as could be. The service was prompt, friendly and unobtrusive. The location -- off Yonge Street, near Summerhill station -- was covenient. Based on our experience, we have nothing but good things to say about Browne's.

It is a nice quiet place with intimate ambiance and good food - I had a rare flank steak and it was seasoned well, not overcooked, and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were not good (not buttery enough) and the dessert (apple cranberry crisp) was too sweet. However the appetizer (grilled calamari) was exceptional!

Thank you! I’ve been a bit disappointed lately dining at restaurants where either there was a limited, uninteresting menu, loud and unpleasant ambiance, and/or unhappy servers. Your menu had too many great options 👍; it was quiet enough in the restaurant that we could enjoy our conversation, and our server was pleasant, quick and professional.
I will most certainly be back!

Had a quiet dinner at Brownes after a movie. The food is reliable and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere and attentive service, I would recommend for everyday dining or a special occasion.

It was a girls only early Christmas get together and we all had such a lovely time. We wish Browne’s Bistro was open for Brunch during the Holiday Season... it’s fully accessible and has such a lovely ambience. Looking forward to our next get together there!

It was a bad choice and my friends were all disappointed.

4 of us ordered different dishes & they were all delicious!! Waitress was great as well!!

Excellent food and service.

Wonderful in every respect. Maria learned everyone's name the first time around our table of ten. That added nicely to the special occasion it was. Everyone commented on their wonderful food. Great ambiance too.

No surprises. What you expect from an upscale family bistro. Friendly po;ite, not rushed. A lovely evening out.

We chose Browne’s as they have consistently had a broad menu and dishes are usually very good. It was a special occasion. The service was pleasant but it seemed to take a very long time for our meal.
My husband was disappointed with his meal as the kitchen modified the tuna on my dietary request but they did the same modifications on his tuna which he did not ask for.
The waiter brought a special dessert for him as it was his birthday. We then ordered preferred desserts. The waiter forgot mine. When reminded, my dessert arrived.
Not the usual reliable service tonight. Hopefully next time we will get our food as we ordered.

Great food! Decor could use a little sprucing up.

I picked Brownes because one of my friends is hard of hearing and noisy spaces are problematic. I knew the food and service would measure up but I picked it this night as a sensory-sensitive choice.

Excellent food. Very attentive and accommodating service. Our group ordered the pasta with mushrooms, grilled salmon and the Mediterranean Sea bream. Also great desserts - apple crumble, cheesecake and delicious sorbets!

I enjoyed the Angel Hair Chicken. A friend thought the beef was bland. Waitress Maria was wonderful, despite the fact that she was single-handedly servicing the full dining room!!

Excellent food and service, will definitely return for dinner.
