They’ve not came very offer to your table , and dinning atmosphere is way behind .
Such a neat old building and very creative repurposing in the decor. Food was delicious, cookies to take home were a nice touch and tasty.
Perhaps a bit noisy in the restaurant. Wait staff are knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. A fabulous night out.
This dinner was the best date I have ever been on! As a person who used to work in a restaurant, I am prone to notice issues that occur in a restaurant. Me and my boyfriend usually go to restaurants and spot the problems, but this was the first restaurant, in a very long time, that I didn't see any issues. The staff was all on the completely same page. Every member of staff greeted us and spoke to us about how great the food was and overall were extremely friendly, un-obnoxiously knowledgeable about their cuisine and were prompt when serving us. The restaurant's atmosphere was lovely. The lighting was dim, but comfortable and it was definitely a romantic setting. The food was so delicious I could not even believe it. The pigs ears were so incredible and my Bigoli pasta dish was so tasty I scraped the bowl clean. The pricing was on the higher end for me and my boyfriend, but definitely worth it for a special occasion. When I made my reservation and told them it was our anniversary, they truly went above and beyond. Most of the staff knew and congratulated us and we got a special box of fresh pasta to go as a gift from the restaurant. The experience was 5 stars across the board. I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be returning! Thank you Buca for an absolutely fantastic experience.
Satisfactory food. Had better at Buca before. Service was not the best today
Food was amazing
All in all I had a positive experience with this restaurant, staff was really friendly and our server was really knowledgeable with their menu, even recommended great food pairings which we followed. My only feedback is that their in-house cold meats are on the salty side, so when we got the pizza that included it was a bit too salty for my liking but net net the food was good, portions are on the smaller side.
-Service was the strongest point.
-Food was good, but quite salty.
-Restaurant is a bit overpriced
A wonderful restaurant with outstanding food and excellent service.
Buca provided a very authentic Italian menu which we thoroughly enjoyed. Everything was fresh and dishes were innovative. Service was terrific! They surprised us at the end of the dinner with a takeaway pasta dinner for two which we cooked and enjoyed at home the following night. We found that to be a very thoughtful gesture and truly appreciated the special treatment we received for our anniversary.
Amazing service. Portions were extremely small for some pasta dishes. Overall, I feel it was an over priced dinner.
Trendy Toronto hot spot. We were a party of 3 people. Found the menu a little too creative (pastas) for our taste. Got there late and ended up ordering their strawberry fruited green salad and mozzarella salad. Neither was memorable. Too late in the evening for the filet for us (our friend told us people go there for their meat dishes) so we settled on sharing 3 of their pizzas. The Salumi di Buca was fairly tasteless, the Asparagi was good, but not great BUT THE FUNGHI!! That was an amazing pizza. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Two nice glasses of wine that were really over priced. (Was that 3 oz's of wine? It didn't feel like a glass of wine really.) We all shared a Mille-feuille for dessert that was very good. My friend had a mint tea and I a decaf cup of coffee. My husband had a Coca-Cola. Our bill was over $200 US! $68 a person for pizza, salad, two glasses of wine, a coke and a tea and coffee and one small mille-feuille! Of course that did include tax and tip but...really. Over priced and the room was so loud, it was hard to have a conversation. Still, we were with a friend my husband and I both adore and we were on vacation in Toronto - a really great city - so... we did have a good time in spite of it. I will say that the wait staff was truly wonderful but, I really can't recommend this restaurant and would not run back.
Went here with my wife before going to the theatre. Excellent food and service. Unique options on the menu and all food we had was freshly made and very tasty. Casual, industrial decor. Service was very good. Each dish was described went it was delivered to the table. Bring your wallet as this quality in not inexpensive.
Outstanding food and service...worthy of its reputation.
Very unsatisfied with experience. Left a more detailed review on google, however summarising... Service was slow, food far from the standard expected. I did not eat most of the dishes and left hungry and upset. Server was polite, but failed to miss that I just wasn't touching the food and only quality checked once my husband had eaten everything.
For the price the food just wasn't on the level you would expect. Service was good but atmosphere felt cold like you had to be somebody to dine here. You can find much better Italian food in the city that's more authentic for way less. The image in which they present Italian dining is all wrong.
Delicious as always!!!
We were visiting Toronto and many months ago I had somewhere seen Buca recommended for its great food. We certainly were not disappointed. The food was well prepared, flavorful and nicely presented; and the service was great. The wine list is extensive and our server was knowledgeable about pairing wine for the different dishes my wife and I were having. The wine list struck me as a bit overpriced, but not excessively so. The bread knots were wonderful and my branzino was wonderfully prepared. Portions are a bit on the small side, but that was part of our decision to eat at Buca after several heavy "touristy" meals.
Visited Buca to take my boyfriend out for his birthday. We were both looking forward to it after hearing rave reviews from a few friends.
The service was great! The servers and food runners really know their dishes and are detail-oriented and attentive. The restaurant itself is rustic, beautiful and very cozy. Unfortunately, the food did not match the level of service. We ordered three appetizers, two pasta dishes, a pizza, a bottle of wine and some cocktails. Food lacked much flavour and was unimpressive. The pizza was especially disappointing. It was so crispy and thin that it was basically like eating a chip, and it was overly salty. After everything we ordered we were still contemplating on going somewhere else for an additional bite. We decided to skip dessert since we were so unimpressed with everything else we ordered. The cocktails were enjoyable.
SOOOO good! The truffle pizza was literally the best pizza I've ever had. We'll be back!
Servers are extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The food is outstanding - worth the steeper price. We enjoyed in particular the nodini, gnocco, pasta, and beef dishes along with sorbet and gelato for dessert. Great vibe and it is fun to watch the staff at work in the open kitchen.
Continues to be a consistently outstanding dining experience
We loved Rachel. She’s the best
The only thing better than the service was the food. Highly recommended.
All around amazing. I went in with high expectations and had them exceeded
Excellent service and knowledgeable waitstaff. Food presentation was excellent, but not great value for price. There's a wide price difference between dishes so if you don't want to spend more than say $25-30 on a main, you'll only have a couple choices.
Wonderful place. Food was excellent and service as well. Decor and detail of the bar was just outstanding. Fast and efficient service.
Upon removing 3 stacked glasses from on top of our tap bottle the bottom glass shattered all over my sister. It was clearly an accident. There was glass in her saddals and chards cut her only slightly around her neck. We were surprised that her vodka gimlet wasn't comped..
The food was excellent and the service was second to none. Drinks were also fantastic. Obviously not cheap but very much worth it.
It was my husband’s birthday and Buca didn’t disappoint. Our meal was great from start to finish and the service was amazing. We will definitely be returning.
The service was excellent and did so much to make us feel comfortable. We enjoyed the food and the recommendations that our server (i so forgot his name, but so nice!) to pair with the wine was spot on. And the manager Claudio came and checked on us and gave us a nice take away box of fresh pasta and ingredients to make a dish. Such a nice evening to share with my husband on our anniversary. Thank you to all that made the night to fabulous!
I was looking forward to go. But what a deception ! Very nice place and very good service. But the red wine was warm , the appetizer ( meat and cheese platter ) very deceiving and was not worth the expensive price for so little food on the plate . The Bigoli was ok but the pizza was to salty and couldn t even finish it because of that awful taste . Sad because the location is perfect. So many good resraurant in Toronto. Don t waste your time or money there .
Lovely meal, amazing service!
Incredible. Always. Rachel served us and she is amazing and so knowledgeable.
My wife had always wanted to give Buca a try - so off we went for her birthday. We got an early reservation since we needed to get out in time for a 7:30 show.
The waitress was fantastic. She was able to recommend dishes and helped us round out our meal. Our sparkling water glass never went empty. She also recommended a very delicious wine for me wife - which I ended up ordering as well.
The food was perfect. We started with a trio of cold cuts and caprese salad - followed by a stuffed ravioli, whole sea bass and dandelion greens. The flavours played off each of the dishes beautifully.
My wife ended the meal with a dessert but I can't remember the name. Delicious delicious delicious.
Thank you for a great start to our evening!
Overall this place was ok. Nothing special. Service was excellent though. Pretty dining room but they forgot to turn on the music! So it was a bit bland atmosphere.
Went there the other evening to celebrate a birthday. Staff is wonderful and service is great. Cold cut platter was mediocre and horribly overpriced . Entree's were good , but again priced way over the top. You can eat just as well if not better at half the cost at other nearby Italian restaurants.
Not impressed, will not be going back!
For starters, we ordered the bread knots. Unfortunately they were hard, you couldn’t pierce them with a fork so you had to eat these oily things with your hands. Too much rosemary and not enough garlic.
We also ordered the gnoccho fritto. They were good. You’re supposed to put the slice of pancetta inside of the dumpling, but we were given 4 dumplings and only 3 slices of pancetta.
Now my biggest pet peeve. They took away our plates while I was eating and took away our bowl of olives. If I’m paying $9 for olives I want to finish my olives! No one asked if we were done, just out of nowhere plates and cutlery gone. But they left us our 2 uneaten bread knots. So I was utterly confused. We couldn’t even eat the remaining bread knots because these things will drip olive oil and we had no plates! Our mains didn’t come out for another 20 minutes (I don’t mind waiting) I just don’t know why they were so in a rush to clear our plates. Service 101 always ask if the customer is done, especially if there is still food in the plate!
For the main, my wife had the funghi pizza. Crust was dry. I had the seafood polenta pasta. It was really good but every now and then I would bite into some star anise? and get a mouthful of licorice which was offputting.
Oh and I forgot to mention that no one ever asked if I wanted a second glass of wine so I ended up just not having any for my main course. But for some odd reason, I was asked over and over if I would want my water refilled. This may not seem like a big deal, but when trying to have a pleasant conversation and to be interrupted every single time my water glass needed to be refilled got annoying after a while.
And in case you’re wondering, this is not a place that serves bread and butter. No fresh ground pepper. No chilli flakes or chilli oil to go with the pizza. And no dinner menu specials.
We opted to skip dessert. This place doesn’t deserve our money.
Prices were way too high for the portion size given. Not impressed with that aspect of the restaurant
