Buca Ratings and Reviews
So good as usual!
Absolutely impressed by the food, we tried the
Gnocco Frito - surprisingly delightful
Bigoli - delicious as expected
Tagliatelle - packed with complimenting flavours
Tiramisú - INCREDIBLE, this was the perfect tiramisú in every way.
*Impeccable service, they were on top of everything and had very thorough descriptions of all items on the menu, including little tastes of Italy, like where you would likely find the dish, and how it might be served there.
I had my 30th birthday dinner with my boyfriend here. It was a great choice. The service was fantastic from the moment we entered the restaurant to when we left. The food was amazing!! We ordered the salumi platter, parmigiana melenzane, nodini, branzino cicoria. Our attentive waitress suggested a very rare pasta dish called "Su Filindeu" and we were so happy we got it. At the end of our dinner, I was given a gift of fresh pasta with cheese and olive oil which my boyfriend and I used the following day. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or for those who just enjoy great cuisine!
Our Waiter was awful food was pretty good but they wouldn’t honor a gift card from bar Buca when the person who sold it guaranteed it was good for all three locations. The waiter was very rude when declining the gift card and I quote “sorry I don’t make the rules not our problem” Now bar Buca will not refund the gift card even with a receipt so we are forced to go to bar Buca (or give $100 away) even though my wife and I both can’t find anything appetizing on the menu...If you go I hope you have a much more pleasant experience than we did!
Fabulous. Loved the food, the place, the service. Pleasantly surprised even with great expectations, wow, can't wait to go back.
This was probably the best meal i had, im Italian and have been to many Italian restaurants in Toronto this was by far the most distinct and authentic, you wont find this kind of cuisine anywhere else, it is a materpiece. I had the Cervello to start and spaghetti al nero di maiale, which i recommend for anyone who goes here!!
Great date spot! Amazing service. Very accommodating to my dietary concerns.
Great food and fabulous service. The scallops and branzino were perfect!
Err expensive. Food was mediocre. Pizza was excellent but the rest one star. Very overpriced.
As usual Buca knocks it out of the park. Here for our anniversary this time - and each and every dish was wonderful, from the cheese selection to the tartara and nodini, the tagliatelle and the su filendeu, to the wonderful desserts and perfect wine reco. Thanks to Tamara and Emanuele and the whole team. Service was impeccable. We’ll remember this night fondly!
Excellent dining experience at Buca. It was our anniversary and they made it very special.
Love Buca. Has become one of my "go to" spots; for lunch or dinner.
Amazing. Great food.
The service was amazing. The tables were slightly too close for my liking, I felt like I was on a date with the table beside us but food was great, they didn't rush us and everyone was absolutely friendly. 100% will be going back
Highly recommended date spot, very classy vibe and outstanding food and service!
Everything was amazing from the moment we walked in. Our server Zoey was fantastic, the food was to die for, and the dining room was pretty cool.
food portion was way too small for price being paid
Amazing, staff were great, food was unbelievable, amazing time.
We went for my daughters birthday and had a great time. Seated quickly, then attentive service. The appetizers were excellent (my wife and daughter get an eggplant side for an appetizer). Then the mains, all were again great. The basic dish I ordered had a fine pasta but they still managed to deliver it al dente. One tip- the usual entrance is now off Portland while work is done next door on King street. Also, parked on Portland, so no problem with the silly driving restrictions
An absolute disaster. Arrived at 8:35 for an 8:30 reservation because we arrived at the listed address on King Street and there was no indication anywhere that the entrance was half a block up the side street. Told that our table was just being prepared and asked to wait at a stand up bar so that we could be hustled for drinks, and of course we were positioned 10 feet away from our already ready and waiting table. When my wife sat on here chair it was extremely wobbly and it took 3 waiter visits till we finally told them to just exchange it with another. Noise level was excruciating.
No question that the quality of ingredients is extremely high, and when we had prepared dishes they were well prepared. We had a good plate of salumi with a few cheeses added, then a $50 plate of a very good gnocchi with truffles, then waited another 40 minutes for the other pasta dish that we had ordered which was the disaster of the night. It was described on the menu as special pasta made in Sardegna in a lamb broth with lamb neck, cheese and a special olive oil. It was assembled in front of us and turned out to be basically an Italian Ramen soup bowl. They placed the large bowl of soup in the middle of the table, and gave us serving utensils and two plates! to eat it off of. Ridiculous and a $48 bowl of soup. Overly pretentious and they think they are lot mor about hip and hype that a great dining experience. We high tailed it straight out after that, foregoing coffee and dessert, 2 1/2 hours was more than we could stand
Wonderful experience, the staff was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious.
Very good one!
There was class, quality, as well as comfort on all levels. Fish was delicious, everything arrived timely and our server (1) was extraordinary: kind, knowledgeable, attentive, discreetly observant, timely. Thank you!
The chef giving us the take home recipe and pasta really made our night and made us both feel really special.
All of the food was either extremely good or extremely bad. It had some of the better I have had in Toronto. But also some of the worst food as well. The venue was nice and the staff were great
I go to a lot of restaurants but this one was one of the best I have ever been to.
Delicious food !! Amazing service!! Will definitely be back !
The service was awful. We were sat and the server took 30 minutes to get to us then the food was extremely slow coming out.
It was way too dark where we were seated and it was not possible to have a candle at our table. We are in our 30s it’s not like we have bad eyesight or anything; it was just really dark.
This was my first time at Buca and let me just say I cannot wait to go back!! I have been to Buca bar, which was amazing, but this was outstanding! I enjoy trying new things so the lambs brains and the pig ears were actually extremely delicious. Their menu changes regularly so I am excited to return and try some new delicacies they have added. Bounissimo!
Certainly the best Italian meal we have ever experienced. Right from the moment we were greeted at reception with polish and open friendliness to the moment our waiter asked us to wait because the Chef wished to speak to us before we left.
An astonishing experience really.
The staff was attentive and personable. We even received an anniversary gift box of fresh pasta at the end of the evening!
One of the best meals I've had in Toronto. Everything from the service, the food, the ambiance, and the wine recommendations were on point. I will definitely be back.
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. Extremely good food and service. The lighting made the menu a little difficult to see but overall everything was to be expected and then some. Would definitely dine here again AND recommend to any of my friends.
Delicious. We met our server choose the menu & wines. Best decision ever!
Always an incredible dining experience! From service to food and the small details, everything combines to create an incredible and authentic Italian restaurant. Thanks Chef Gentile and your wonderful team!
Entirely inconceivable why this restaurant has a cult following. Awful ambience, ceiling has black soot on it, walls have hideous black panels, chairs and restaurant are as though one is in a barn. The highlight was after we had the cheers plate and asked for bread, crackers or something similar and they stated we could order something off the menu. I have dined at MIchelin star restaurants throughout the world for decades and never ONCE had a restaurant have the audacity to charge for bread or crackers with a cheese plate. One of the senior staff was pretending to care or listen to my friend regarding his suggestions for improvement.
We drove about 50km from Newmarket to have dinner at this outstanding Osteria. Needless to say, the traffic was extremely bad that day and it took us about two hours to get there. We were hungry and thought it was a bad idea to drive that long just to eat but when we had our salumi and gnoccho fritto arrive at the table, we thought it was well worth the drive. There is no other place in Toronto where you can order a thinly-sliced lardo di Colonnata that goes so well with the gnoccho fritto. Couple that with the best-in-town (maybe continent) burrata pizza with an order of lamb's brain wrapped in prosciutto, I was in heaven. That is if you're an adventurous Italian foodie. Definitely worth the drive in traffic!
Excelente comida y servicio, muy recomendable
Great interpretation of Italian classics and creative new dishes. Excellent selection of meats, cheeses, and wines. First rate service. We had a special evening.
