Buca Yorkville Ratings and Reviews
Service was very snobby and rude. We felt like we were somehow not good enough, not trendy enough, not rich enough to warrant our server's attention. That is not the way one should be made to feel in any setting, anywhere. The whole place had that air about it.
The food was not that great either. Pizza was acceptable, pasta was bland and tasteless. The only positive thing we could say is the food came relatively quickly. But we'd never go there again and were sorry we picked it.
Very nice atmosphere. Andrew who was my waiter was very knowledgeable in regards to the menu. Most of it was in Italian so I can't remember exactly what the dishes were called but I had scallops. Very tasty, very light meal though. You'll need an additional dish. Also had a grand frito I think it was called. It's an assortment of fried vegetables and fish. Very good you can really taste all of the different flavors. Something as simple as onion really stood out and tasted great. A little pricey though depending on what tax bracket you're in.
Buck proved to match the considerable hype hear around Toronto as a must dine experience. Our waitress was delightful and the food was inventive and delicious. This restaurant is worth visiting anytime one is in Toronto.
Fantastic food with meticulous attention to detail. Service a little slow at times. Amazing view seated overlooking the open kitchen.
Food quality varied. COD was bland and served on uninspired mush. Veal was great. Starter was great but hugely too small as a sharing option as advertised. Overpriced and inconsistent menu.
Awesome food and service. Tiramisù is phenomenal!
Love Buca! One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto
Amazing food and menu! Every single item we ordered was fantastic! Great for seafood lovers. Max was our server and was a pleasure and made
Great recommendations! Will definitely be back to try the branzino!
Terrible evening with good friends.
All Italian men, hard to understand their English. Each staff member had 1 job. (Water boy , bread boy, Napkin man l, bus boy. No one communicated to each other. No one asked how was the food. Pizza took 90 minutes to arrive. We had to ask for the check 5 times!
The staff are definitely way too cool about themselves. Not friendly, not warm and very very rude to us when we left.
I thought BUCA was one of Toronto’s best restaurant s to take my London, NYC & Paris food friends. Embarrassing . Bad!
This food ‘destination’ would never survive outside Toronto, Canadians are just too nice and polite. Way too expensive to be polite. Maybe BUCA just gets dumb out of town guests — staying at the hotel accrued the street.
I would NEVER recommend BUCA.
Unique brunch experience.
The food was delicious !
But they were out of most of the fish selection.
We had the Branzino crudo. So good!!
Beautiful restaurant with fantastic food, impeccable service and delicious cocktails.
Just about as good as it gets, too bad you get a bill at the end. Top 3 special occasion restaurant for sure. The birthday, boxed take away is almost the nicest gift of any restaurant.
The room is beautiful but the noise level really bothered me and I'm pretty easy going about these types of things. The menu is somewhat limited. I paid $41. for 3 scallops....that's not value even if the food is incredible. I might go back for a drink and starters at the bar.
Overpriced for the food. Would not go back. Service was fine.
Attentive staff and great food. Coffee was delish.
When we first showed up, I wasn't too happy being 15 minutes late resulted in our seat being bumped, but it is reasonable and were sat in a new spot instead. We were served by Scott, who was able to recommend us with good wine and starters. I knew he was genuine when he held me back from ordering an item and recommended a second item instead once based on the conversation we had briefly. Food came out quick and in good portions.
I have been to Buca on King and now Yorkville, I would recommend Buca on King 9/10 times to anyone, but for that special someone who is a seafood fanatic, I would say this particular Buca wins out.
Amazing food , great service, beautiful interior and enjoyed a cool experience to see them cut their signature dish, Branzino in front of you. Also tried Nodini and the Bigoli, both very delicious. Will definitely recommend to all friends.
Order the octopus and the spot prawns crudo. Pasta was exactingly al dente. Wines by the glass are exactingly un-generous tiny pours so just buy a bottle and leave the remains.
My boyfriend and I both ordered the pasta and it was delicious. The portions were just right with enough room for dessert. However, we felt we were not treated with as much respect as our neighbors, likely because we weren't dressed as well or were younger. I would highly recommend the food but felt the service will deter me from visiting again.
It was an enjoyable experience. Our server was extremely attentive and great at introducing us to the menu. He recommended the poached duck eggs with pecarino cheese, which the three of us had. It was quite spectacular. The dessert was light and sweet, perfect after the filling cheese and egg.
Overpriced, bad service, food wasn’t great.
Waiter was rude and had no knowledge of anything on the menu.
Over priced and under deliver, should be their slogan.
Found a live worm in my salad, their response was it's fresh and organic. My thoughts are they don't wash their greens.
Loved it! Food was awesome and we had great service.
The deep fried asparagus with scallops and lobster was amazing. Went off the menu with the pizza and they were very accommodating. Sommelier set us up with a terrific Italian red.. compo buri. Great overall experience!
Always consistent... food, service and ambiance! Their in-house wine expert help us picked the perfect wine to pair with what we ordered. Our server was gracious and was there when we needed him.
We had to wait 20 minutes for our table although we had a reservation. However they were very apologetic and compensated us with some small appetizers while we waited. Fantastic food and extremely attentive service. Good experience overall.
I am a regular when visiting Toronto.
Like Buca very much and close it my hotel.
The waiter was terrific. Had great attention to detail and anticipated all. Food was great as always.
Excellent Buratta pizza - Vongole dish complex and interesting - fine service and ambiance
Great food and great service. The cured fish was something completely new to me and was totally amazing. Very impressive
Everything was amazing! the service, food and wine ( which the sommelier helped us pair) was wondserful. The only thing that fell short for me was that their Gelato machine was out of service :(
The best burratta pizza in town. Nicely decorated and clean environment. Always best quality of service . Will always revisit..
Bar none. I have not enjoyed a meal out as much as this evening in a long time. From the moment you are greeted at the door to the end of the evening, the flow, the service, the FOOD, the DRINKS were all spot on and delivered in spades, what cumulated to be a spectacular evening. The drinks were inventive and delicious, never leaning to any one bias of flavour. The food was outstanding albeit the desserts were ok (had we skipped dessert, or maybe just had a spoonful of sorbet to finish off a perfect meal, I would have been happier). But what topped everything else was the service at the table. Never overbearing, never intrusive. And our server KNEW her menu, KNEW the ingredients, NEVER had to say "I'll get back you, let me check" - even what seemed to be an obscure question about an ingredient, she answered without hesitation as if she had heard that question a thousand times before. There are not enough positive things to say about this restaurant. Bravo.
Amazing as always :) thank you
We celebrated a bday here and brought a 3 month old. They were very accommodating if a little impersonal at first. The ambience is loud so be aware of that. They gave us a cery nice pasta take home bday gift at the end. Food was sensational!
Great food and ambience, attentive service.
A definite go-to for any occasion
The food was excellent. Our server was excellent. I had never been there for lunch (only dinner) and really enjoyed it.
Given this place 4 tries now. We live in the building and just cannot stand the pretentious menu and dishes. "60-day fermented butter" - really? Duck egg pasta w/duck offal - really? Virgin mozzarella? as opposed to what? Aged vinegar? as opposed to cheap clear vinegar? I mean, the menu is dripping with pretentious attitude. The staff are well trained, but constantly come and wipe the table, even if it's clean, and won't leave you alone. This time had the stuffed zucchini blossoms - average - and the halibut which was very good. My husband had a white pizza which was super rich but good. And btw, why not just slice the pizza in the kitchen rather than serve it with *scissors*! Really? Give me a break. Got the tiramisu, which came swimming in creme anglaise and coffee, and some weird coffee-type gelatin in a chocolate cup. They told me it was "deconstructed"! NOT! Why are they trying to "improve" tiramisu? Ugh. Other than that debacle, the food is good, but not so good as to put up with the "god's gift to Toronto" attitude here. Sorry.
As usual, the food was amazing, the service was professional, cheerful and efficient. All in all another terrific evening at Buca Yorkville
I went to Buca at the recommendation of a dear friend who is a renowned chef in Toronto. It was the only suggestion he gave me in Yorkville. I booked through Open Table, which was really easy. My single reservation was later than I thought, but I went to the restaurant early and they accommodated me. The hostess was fabulous, and when I asked if I could sit at the bar area right in front of the kitchen she got approval and that made my night an experience to remember. It was wonderful to watch the food being prepared and then going out to the tables. My server made suggestions of vintage wine to pair with my food and they were wonderful also. I had a wonderful pasta stuffed with sweet corn, a dish I saw a lot of people order and enjoy. Sounds great so far, right? It was. The problem? I also ordered the garlic knots at the recommendation of my server. I LOVE garlic and the idea of adding garlic ‘bread’ to my pasta dinner. The garlic knots were absolutely DROWNING in garlic. I’m hoping and guessing I got a order that was improperly prepared. The garlic was so heavy and overpowering I could no longer taste the pasta. I should have said something and sent them back. I didn’t. The garlic was so heavy it even drowned the vintage wine. Bottled water didn’t help. I finished the dinner with the pizzelle for dessert. I had to have the pizzelle because I had seen so many orders come through the kitchen and it looked amazing. When I took my first bite of pizzelle, I couldn’t taste anything other than garlic. Second bite was the same. I had the pizzelle wrapped and took it back to my hotel to have later. Overall, I really did like so much of Buca. Too bad the garlic was so, so heavy. My bill for a single diner was $129. too, which hurt considering part of my dinner was inedible. If I ever went back, I’d have the pizza and ask it be prepared without garlic.
