Food and service were amazing. One of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a long time
Great food, great service
We love buca a lot ! Every time we want to indulge ourselves we go there because of the high quality service and food over there .
Horrible waitress. Worst service. We had to wait for so long to get water or order drinks. Busy can’t be an excuse as the restaurant was empty
This used to be one of our favorite restos. Food was great, service was excellent and the place had a cool vibe to it, even if it was always noisy and hard to have intimate conversation.
I have noticed the last couple of times we have been there that things are starting to slip. The food, even the items that have remained unchanged over the years, is quite frankly not as good. Not sure if this is a result of the chefs or the quality of ingredients or both. Many items have been removed from the menu, and at least to us, they were some of our favorites. Good value wines are disappearing, and the remainder are ridiculous overpriced for avg quality. The service is still good, but I have noticed a huge turnover rate where in the past there seemed to be more stability to the staff members. This means staff that is less knowledgeable about the food/wine, etc..
Not sure what is going on there, but we dont look forward to returning as much as we used to. Thats a shame, but it is what it is.
The wine list needs more options. Lots of choices of bottles that are priced prohibitively high.
It was a great evening enjoying great food but the evening was made more special with our waiter Dimitrius! He is a 10+ for service.
Everything was excellent, from the food, the service, ambience and noise level. Would definitely recommend the restaurant to my family, friends and acquaintances.
Co worker promotion
Great food, great environment (luckily sat at the kitchen bar, was like watching a tv show!) but most importantly the service was absolutely amazing. Blake was our server and he was friendly to chat with, gave great recommendations and even gave us a little gift for our anniversary! Will definitely be back.
Did not live up to its reputation.
This was my third visit to Buca Yorkville. I absolutely love this restaurant but was disappointed with the extremely slow service and the food this time.
The Burrata pizza with shaved black truffle and the lobster pasta were extremely over priced. The meal was not as tasty as anticipated.
Bad experience being suggested and sold wine that cost $200 a bottle when we were looking at $80 a bottle without being warned in the price differential. Very unpleasant experience. Will not go back.
The food was amazing!!! The wine paring was fantastic! The service was perfect!
We had the tasting menu which was beautifully plated however some of the fish courses were too strong (very fishy). We saw all the wonderful plates leaving the kitchen and would have preferred to order from the regular menu. We would have preferred more vegetable, pasta or meat courses instead of the strong fish flavored courses. You do not know the menu until you arrive which made it difficult to say "no" once we were locked in.
Big show, average performance.
The background noise is extreme, even at 50 percent load. The food is beautifully staged and well explained, but the taste is not on the same level. Feedback is asked, but not the customer is addressed, rather explanations instead of a customer-oriented solution.
In short: no bad food but the price is not related. There are better places in Toronto where you can get more for the same money.
Great service and knowledgeable server. Tasty food in general: the crispy skin on the black cod was a nice touch. The cocktail L’imperatore a must have: the warm temperature really makes the drink. Tiramisu was a disappointment: despite the server’s warning, I was shocked to see how a classic Italian dessert was mangled in such a way. There was very little cake surrounded by a mount of custard.
It was also disappointing that the menu posted on the website was very different from the menu available in the restaurant. My husband and I had had our heart set on certain dishes on the online menu that were unfortunately no longer offered in the restaurant; the management should do a better job updating the menu online.
The restaurant was also too noisy and too dark: it was hard to decipher the menu, and the cement wall should be soundproofed to enhance the enjoyment of the dining experience.
Amazing as always :) great food and atmosphere
For the quality of our entrees the price was far too high. The food was average, the wine excellent, the desert was silly - a deconstructed tiramisu - really? The service was excellent but because the food was not worth the price I will not be back.
The food was excellent, however not all the cured fish were as good as last time, and the nodini a bit over cooked. The mains were superb, and the chocolate and Meyer lemon sorbets were awesome.
It was hard to converse because of noise level( last time we were at the partially sheltered large table so less noisy).
Will definitely return. The pizzas are an incredible value (one was shared as an appetizer)
My boyfriend and I went to Buca with high expectations and good reviews from family and friends. Unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming from service to ambiance and food.
For the hype and cost of the food, we expected more. We were there on a Tuesday night so it wasn't too busy but somehow one of our mains was forgotten. It didn't come for an hour after the first main came out even though we made it clear we were sharing both between each other. I would've appreciated if the server owned up to forgetting to put it in but instead, he asked us if we still even want it. When it arrived the couscous was underdone bc the kitchen was obviously rushing since it was already getting late. I would expect from such an establishment to apologize for the mistake and try and correct it. Instead, we waited for over an hour picking away at our pizza and it wasn't until we asked what's happening that it was addressed in a very nonchalant way.
Speaking of the kitchen and staff when it got close to 10pm, even though they are open until 11pm, it seemed like the whole place was starting to close around us even though we were not the only customers left. We felt very uncomfortable and skipped dessert all together even though it was a birthday celebration.
Apart from the awkward service and underwhelming food, we did enjoy the pizza the most and "fish charcuterie" so I would recommend it. The octopus was what we were excited about the most but perhaps since it was rushed maybe we didn't get to try the dish at it's best.
Personally, they're a lot more places in the city that deliver on all accounts that I would go to before trying Buca. Every restaurant has it's good and bad days and perhaps we didn't luck out on our visit.
Fantastic food, excellent service, cheryl our server was outstanding, just a little noisy. Bob
Great wine, amazing service
It is an excellent place to enjoy sophisticated dishes and prompt service in a warm yet refined atmosphere.
Very good food but very pricey for what you get. It was a busy night with lots of employees running around but still took long time between courses and to get a bill.
We decided to give this place a second chance last weekend for Sunday brunch, four years after our first under-whelming experience.
I left frustrated with this place and experience yet again: the food is almost pretentiously basic, the prices are so high for what we got. We have both travelled the world and eaten at all of Buca Toronto's local and cuisine competitors - this city is rife with world-class Italian, and Buca just can't measure up. No need to reinvent the wheel: nail the basics first.
This dining room in particular requires some noise-cancelling ceilings or walls - the sound bounces around and reverberates approximating the sounds of an Ikea cafeteria, as example. For the prices, location, and pretentiousness, we felt the food, ambiance, overall experience significantly under-delivers.
Service was great - lovely servers.
We enjoyed coming to the Restauant’s this but came with our parents and found it difficult to have a conversation because of the noise level. We also had a hard time finding things on the menu because we are pescaterian. Would love it if you had a vegetarian menu as a supplement to your menu. It’s certainly how food trends seem to be moving
Service was terrible. Food is very expensive for what u get.
Highly overrated restaurant.
Prefer Buca downtown much better.
As always the food was incredible. The service throughout the meal was also very attentive.
They accidentally gave us the wrong bill, and fixing that was a lengthy process. The only blemish on a great night.
Service was outstanding. Food was incredible! An incredible experience which is highly recommended!!
Visiting Toronto from Houston, this was our first time dining at Buca, and will certainly not be our last. We explored all parts of the menu and were impressed with all, especially the fresh fish - we had sashimi branzino, skillfully prepares table side, octopus and grilled lobster. The wine list is truly exceptional with a deep selection of the finest Italian.
Great food. Great service. One of our favourite restaurants but just very expensive.
It was different from every time I have been to buca. The tables were scratched and beat, there were fruit flies , the food was not as good. I hope they pick up and go back to that very good level they were at before.
Awesome food and vibe. Our server was really friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back
nice ambiance. great service.
Have been to most of top restaurants in Toronto, this probably the one disappointed me the most.
I took a friend there for her birthday lunch, wait was a long time for food, my friend and I ordered the same pasta dish with clams, I took 2 bites of it, extremely salty, clams are already salty no need to vet due it with the salt. We waited a while because my friend and I complained how salt the pasta dish was. We ordered another pasta dish, which was decent, it’s the one with the egg on top, it was not too bad with the salt.
The overall was good
Noice very loud
Mixture of corporate suit biz card crowd meets a mish mash mix of modern decor millennials. Professional, attentive, attractive staff. Modern, sleek decor that plays it safe meets incredibly clean presentation re: the way food is plated. The salumi seafood sampler mixed platter offers variety & was beautifully done!
Perfect service, great food (we shared plates) great wine selection too.
