Just a few steps from the hustle and bustle of Yonge and Bloor, Bumpkin’s has been a local landmark since 1971, serving the very best in French continental cuisine with an old world Parisian feel. The newly updated two-story Victorian house has a handsomely sophisticated interior, featuring two fireplaces and a set of crystal chandeliers, that once graced the interior of the Royal York Hotel, and beautiful pieces of art throughout the restaurant.

During the spring and summer months, Bumpkins offers an outdoor dining experience on their terrace, complete with a view of Norman Jewison parkette. Distinct to the menu is a selection of masterfully conceived dishes ranging from the baked garlic butter escargot bourguignon to veal chop with mushrooms to the steamed fresh P.E.I mussels. All of the fine fair can be accompanied by a selection from the extensive cocktails and wine list.

Bumpkins dining was memorable in every way. Very warm greeting, ambiance was so lovely and food service impeccable. Waiter was charming and very professional. Food was a gastronomical delight. So worth the drive from Oshawa!

The owner was lovely, he even told me where the best place to park would be. The restaurant and washrooms were very clean. The service excellent! The food was very good and the prices were high….but prices are all high in restaurants these days.

An amazing ambience and the service was fantastic. The salads were really good. I have only had 1 better Cesar dressing and that was Lawrey's in Chicago. I cook a great steak. This was as good as mine. The potatoes and veg were spectacular.

Nice people, great service, and If you’re looking for food from a suburban mainstream 1970s cookbook, this is the place for you. As for ambience, it is comfortable but not intimate, and getting the most out of a 1990s reno. Straight up, it’s expensive.. If I am spending this kind of money, Toronto offers a wide range of incredible restaurants. The service was friendly and timely.

the restaurant was very very quiet. food looks like it’s from cafeteria, the steak that we paid 60 bucks for was the worst steak that my wife ever had. I would say that they need to work on their menu late representation and food quality as both don’t equal to the price that we paid. For spending half the money we would have better experience at Keg, but unfortunately that date all kegs were full for the time that we wanted. Also large menu and options is not always a good choice. Boiled vegetables from the frozen is not something you expect when a dish cost you $40-60, or boiled fried potatoes. I did enjoy the bread, butter and the potatoes, but we did not pay for Denny’s level food. Wish this place all the best and to change for the best. Will never go again, unless something major will change there.

Wow! This place is a gem! Exemplary service, food and ambience! The staff were friendly, welcoming and worked super hard to ensure that we had a wonderful dining experience. The Chicken Marsala and Pork medallions were fantastic! We can’t wait to return when we visit Toronto again.

The quietude was refreshing. I could hear our conversation at the table yet still had background noise from other tables. Food was top quality. They did not skimp on the seafood in the seafood medley like some restaurants do. Excellent wait staff

We were expecting great food and received a greasy steak with frozen vegetables. The carpet smelled funky and we were the only ones there. I’m not sure what Howie Mandel saw in this place but perhaps it was different times. Besides the sweet old man (I think the owner) who sat us down, we felt it was a bit of a rip off. We understand this might not be what he wants to hear but we want to be honest in the hopes it leads to improvements. The reviews and menu were misleading

Personal service with excellent healthy menu options. The only con was the parking. The owner Mr. Ma was accommodating and very warm. Had my birthday dinner and we closed shop with time well spent… we will be going back

The downtown location is great with street parking. The inside ambiance is lovely and they have a covered patio. The owner is so nice and the service amazing. I ordered the shrimp and scallops - the butter garlic sauce was to die for! So nice to have real French food!

The soups were scrumptious. Our steaks were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The attentiveness of our server was impressive without being intrusive. The owner, Min, has an excellent rapport with his customers.

I was not impressed overall with the restaurant. Portion sizes were extremely small and very lack luster. We did not receive what was listed on the menu and never informed of the omission. The server was not friendly. On the way out mothers were offered a rose and my mom was not given one since there were 2 moms in our group. Only when my daughter insisted that the woman was her mom did she receive one. Needless to say, will probably not return.

We had a group Christmas dinner here last Friday and it was absolutely amazing! The service was excellent from the moment we walked in and the food was delicious. I would so recommend this restaurant to anyone!!! Will definitely go again.

Great choice if you’re going to the CAA theatre. We were a little late but they made sure our food was out quickly and we had time to enjoy the meal. They were awesome and the food was fantastic. We’ll be back for sure!
