So, let me just start off with the fact that my husband and I consider ourselves foodies, but not total food snobs!
We thought this would be a real treat as our first night away from the baby, but we have never felt a deeper disappointment from a menu.
The one redeeming quality was that our waitress Alexis was incredible. We felt too guilty to complain to her, because she was trying SO hard to make our night.
To start, all the dishes felt like they lacked seasoning. You'd think a chorizo Croquette would pack a small bit of punch with spice to get your appetite going, but instead felt creamy and undefined. That was the theme for the night. Creamy, and undefined.
No crunch, no punch, no excitement. Almost felt like the food was made for a 75year old for easy chewing.
I won't even go into the pasta that looked congealed KD.
The veal tenderloin was cooked blue, and despite our best efforts to savor it was bland.
The icing on the cake was the horrific dessert that was like eating chocolate chips swimming in cold coffee.
What an absolute waste of money. Will never be returning.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We appreciate the time this takes and see these communications as a way for us to improve our experiences. We are happy you enjoyed the service you received, we will ensure Alexis is made aware of your kind words. However it is clear that we missed the mark in regards to the meal portion of your experience. We are going to attempt to contact you in hopes that we can discuss this further and change your opinion of our restaurant.
Amazing dinner thoroughly enjoyed it! Service was impecable
My husband enjoyed his meal a lot! Very limited vegan option (only one dish and a salad as an option).
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hockley Valley! It was peaceful and the staff were all Terrific. The rooms were comfortable and clean.
We would definitely go back!
We went for a family lunch to celebrate a birthday on Sunday. Staff were incredible and very considerate towards my elderly mother’s dietary restrictions. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and highly recommend!
We had Warm Olives, Winter Minestrone, Steak Frites, and Manicotti. Everything was well prepared and presented using fresh ingredients, and the excellent beef in the Steak Frites was local.
This was a dining experience on the higher end price wise but definitely worth it for a nice treat. Our server, Raj, was great and made the meal that much more enjoyable.
Excellent food, excellent service. Good value for the price of your meal and perfect portion sizes. A great choice for unique menu items.
amazing food. worth a visit. service very fun. good for couples or families
Our visits before were good experiences. However, there seems to be new staff and cooks. Our server was very friendly but forgot to bring our drinks or remembered what we said. They also did not have what was on the menu, ran out. About the noise, I think it was the head chef? He was yelling at the top of his lungs constantly. It was an open kitchen so people were talking loud to hear one another. I don't recall such changes before. The noise level gave us a head ache. This is probably our last visit
Loved everything about the experience. Cannot wait to go back to keep trying all the amazing dishes. We had the seafood tower which was a solid appetizer . Only needed a small plate after that. But we had the duck. Didnt think the medium rare duck breast was gonna be more on the rare side which made it a little tough to chew and digest. The rabbit risotto was amazing and so was the lobster risotto according to our neighbours. And I believe it!! Raj our server was great. Loved being near the kitchen to witness the inner workings of true professionals.
If you enjoy watching Hells Kitchen, you will love this place! Open kitchen adds to the unique dining experience. Sit at the counter if you want a front row seat to the action. Service was very good as was the warm fresh bread and olive spread while we waited for our mains. My wife & I both enjoyed our dinners (Beef Tenderloin & Roasted Duck cooked to perfection) and the extensive wine list. Desert selection was ok. Would definitely go back!
Good food. Excellent service. High prices for food and beverages.
Excellent overall.
Only drawback, we were seated next to the large room. As we finished dessert, that area was seated. Noise level became way to loud and my wife and I had to almost shout at each other.
A glass wall would eliminate this issue (my term) without ruining the feel of the dining room.
This was 1 of the very best experiences my foodie family has enjoyed together! Chef Inni and his culinary team are extra-ordinary! We sat @ the Chef's counter for dinner, and the kitchen team was so engaging...not just with us, but with our 2 children. Chef even invited our children to visit again for next-day lunch, and he welcomed them into his kitchen, gifted them each a chef hat, & taught them to make their very favourite dish on the menu. It was so memorable...for all of us. And the food....fresh ingredients & fun presentation! Delicious!! This was all complemented by the service staff...who were knowledgable with both food and wine recommendations, and made the full evening such a special experience for our family. We come from Toronto to Hockley Valley often for family ski weekends...but honestly, the Cabin Restaurant is a destination in and of itself, and is now the #1 reason we visit the resort.
My husband treated me to dinner for my birthday tonight. We were super psyched to try The Cabin as we had heard good things about it. Too bad we were disappointed. This is a family restaurant with lots of young kids so not ideal for a quiet romantic meal.
The food was great for the appetizer course. Hubby had the seafood Zuppa which was delish, I had the scallops which were cooked to perfection. Then it was all downhill from there. The entrees took 45 minutes to come out-I ordered the tenderloin medium rare, hubby ordered the lamb, medium well. My tenderloin was ice cold in the middle and inedible. After flagging down our server (Alexandra), she was very apologetic and took it back to heat up. After another 30 minutes it finally came but by then I was over it and not hungry any more so I just asked for the desert menu hoping to get my favourite creme brûlée, which was on their online menu but to my disappointment it was not on the menu tonight. My husband asked if they had it and Alexandra explained that they had it in the restaurant downstairs and she could have one brought up for me. I said if it was going to take long not to bother as we had already been there for over 2 hours and had had enough of a wait. She promised it would not take long so I was appreciative that she would go the extra mile to try to make things right. Well another 30 minutes go by during which time I see my special order desert with a candle go by- to another table. Finally Alexandra came by to explain my crime brûlée was taken by someone else and they were going to get another one. This was the icing on the cake and we just said thanks but no thanks and called it a night. I’m pretty sure it was just my dumb birthday luck that they couldn’t get it right for us because all the tables around us came and went seemingly without issues. Overall the food was tasty but cold, service was friendly but very slow. Would not chance it again at this place though. Not a great bd dinner for me. Too bad
Great food, great service overall great experience.
We went to Cabin to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a great evening, made all the better by the fabulous service from our waiter Jarek.
Nice environment; service was great; food was not exceptional; fish entrée was poor, small portion, would strongly not recommend
Taylor made our night! Good was superb - strip loin, lamb.
The food was excellent and the service was amazing. I had the lamb dish and it was of the best I’ve had . The Atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. I will definitely be coming back.
Don't order the meat and cheese platters. The portion for 4 people is ridiculously considering they charge $35. Plus the meat was hard and dry.
Wonderful evening
Excellent server and staff
I'm lucky enough to live close by but nomatter where you come from, this truly is a destination experience! The total feel of Cabin is versatile and fun, jeans and a nice shirt or suit and tie, a warm and stylish decor think 'Manhattan sheek' but incredibly warm and cozy. Service is top notch from hostess to wait staff, Raj in particular is a master of his craft...attentive yet polite and relaxed. Sit at the chef's table if you're in a pair or group of four, you'll get to see the kitchen in full swing, chat with the chefs and watch some magic in the open concept design. Food is consistently great if not outstanding, Hockley makes their own cheeses, cured meats, garden veggies and now wine in their signature lable Adamo. Vast menu, rich game meat to creative vegetarian and luxurious pastas. Prices are quite fair, glasses of wine for $9 and entrees for $20. You can make it a modest night or go all out but even the highest prices are reasonable. Don't let the fact that it's a resort intimidate you, this place is for everyone even kids. Favorite place to bring my friends to show off our unique community!
The food and service was great.
Rachael and other staff amazing!
Food delicious!
We loved it!
The turkey dinner was the best we have ever had ( only one better is grammas home cooked)
Chef Joseph's attention to detail was evident.
The whole experience was “fun”
Client tried to pay for our meal . As this was our 20 th anniversary. Front desk refused to confirm our reservation. Took all his credit card info and then did nothing. Will not recommend this resort to anyone looking for a great meal
Great restaurant and ambiance. Service was quick however didn’t feel rushed. Noise level is slightly loud but overall enjoyed the food and decor
Very nice atmosphere. Food was very good with a variety of items. Service was excellent. They were aware of allergies & made sure that everything was done properly. Highly recommended.
Great quality of food outside of the city. Tenderloin was excellent to share with the gnocchi for an indulgent meal. The Zolla Primitivo was a good value for under $100 on the wine list!
We were there with a bridal party as a dinner the night before a wedding and Taylor our server was amazing! Great food, great wine and overall great experience!
Amazing food and good service. The chef is a master of his cuisine
Great food and atmosphere! First time in 22 years I’ve seen my daughter eat everything on her plate! Lol
Excellent food, excellent service at restaurant. Nice ambiance, however overall a little too loud; almost too noisy for a dinner environment.
We had an excellent dining experience at Cabin. Our server was attentive and helpful. We've eaten at Cabin many times before and keep returning because we love Chef! He is personable and welcoming, and we always feel taken care of. The food was delicious, prepared just as requested (I had the tenderloin), beautifully plated and timed just right so that one course flowed perfectly to the next. We also love that they are using so many ingredients from their own on site garden.
Our meal was excellent. The atmosphere was great. Unfortunately our waiter seemed very rushed all the time, left the table when only 3 of 4 guests had ordered had to call him back to inform he didn’t take an order. Missed a couple items so they had to be ordered later then the other items that should have gone together.
All around a nice experience but a little more approachable/aware server would have made it outstanding.
A note though the servers at the patio restaurant at lunch were amazing, Rachel and Jennifer were so friendly and knowledgeable.
All in all a great weekend
Dined at Cabin for 2 evenings. Appetizers and entrees were excellent. Our servers were very pleasant, professional, and attentive. Unfortunately, we found the desserts not very satisfying ( we had the torta and peanut butter cheesecake). Also, on the second night our dessert came immediately but we had to wait 10-15 for our cappuccinos. They were barely room temperature when they arrived at our table. I didn't even drink mine. Very disappointing way to end an otherwise perfect diner.
My wedding anniversary.
Need more vegetarian and vegan options. Not very accommodating towards customers with allergies and specific deitary requirements. No alternates suggested by server.
