What Insiders Are Saying
Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba is a tapas restaurant that's been around for a long time. It's ideal for a lot of occasions.
Besr tapas in Chicago, hands down. Sangria is great, tapas were awesome and paella was to die for. I wish I had leftovers for lunch today.
Our experience was amazing! I went there with my best friend and his fiancé to celebrate our birthdays and we had the best time ever! The food was amazing and the service was impeccable!!! We sat in the bar area so we had the bartender as our server and he did not disappoint!
He made our dining experience perfect!
This place never misses great food every time along with the drinks.... definitely a place we would come back to and recommend.
We had such a nice time at this restaurant the food was delicious in the service was excellent!
The restaurant was hopping and completely full yet they were able to get our food to us and the most reasonable time just a very enjoyable experience all the way around!
you won't go away hungry!
They were awesome. Service was spectacular from start to finish. Will always come back for any occasion.
The total experience here is always fabulous! The food is excellent, with the menu encouraging you to be adventurous and try new things - all of which end up being delicious. The full range from vegetables to meat to seafood tapas are all outstanding, and it's great fun to go with a group of people so that you can share and try new things. The white wine sangria here has always been a favorite of mine for years. No one makes it the way they do! Even with how busy the restaurant always is, the service is excellent with friendly, attentive wait staff.
We have been to this restaurant numerous times over last 10 years. However, we came back last Friday after 2 year break and were disappointed a bit. Super noisy, all hot dishes were warm like not hot. The food overall was was edible but no more than that..
Simply wonderful! A friend living in Chicago had a list of recommended restaurants while visiting the city and said this place could not be missed! Excellent tapas, great drinks, fun atmosphere. We had an amazing meal before heading over to Second City for a show. DO NOT SKIP CAFE BA-BA-REEBA!!
The speed of service and food were both awesome!
Good food, bad service
The food was absolutely delicious and we loved the ambiance!
Cafe BaBaReeba always provides a great meal. Tapas means you can try a lot of different things. I wish they would bring back the Moroccan Chicken. Otherwise, their food always makes me happy.
I can’t say that one tapa was better than another. All of them were extremely good in their own right. Top quality food. Very crowded and somewhat noisy during rush hours. But it is a Spaniard environment, noise is part of it.
The food was amazing! It all came in a timely fashion and each dish was made fresh. Will definitely be returning to this place!
First time dining here and the food was good. The spicy potatoes and sangria were fabulous. However the service lacked towards the end. But overall it was a good dinner.
The tapas were exceptional. The seafood paella was ok but I really didn't like the spice that was used on it. I hardly ever eat paella so maybe it was exactly the way it should taste, I just didn't like it.
The ambiance was very poor- the music sounded like we were in a club... at 1:30 lunch on a Sunday. The vibe was more like a dive bar than an expensive restaurant. And the waiters tossed all the (still hot and wet from the dishwasher) plates on the table without a care. The food was decent. The plates are small tapas style so we were able to try a lot, which was nice. Of the 8 dishes we got, 3 were a total hit. The other 5 fell flat. The 2 meat dishes were bland and overcooked. The eggs Benedict was very mediocre (and expensive). And the rest I can’t even remember because they were not memorable at all. The 3 hit plates were NOT worth the poor service and ambiance. Save your money.
The bacon wrapped dates, patatas bravas, almond-caramel bar, and truffle cake were amazing.
Saturday evening. They were very busy. 6:30 reservation. We were seated in just a few minutes. Tables are close together and it's noisy. BUT, the server was wonderful and the food outstanding.
Tried 11 different dishes. Favorite was either the stuffed mushrooms or the squid. Least favorite was the garbanzo bean stew. It was essentially garbanzo beans drenched in a heavy red sauce, whereas we expected something more resembling a hummus consistency. Overall the food was very tasty and the 11 dishes worked for four people.
We had the worst service we have ever had at a restaurant. Ivory, our server, never checked on us and did not even put it half our food orders, which is a big deal with three small children in our group. After two hours, we had to take some of our food to go. She was also rude to us. We used to like the restaurant, but we will not be back.
Best tapas restaurant in chicago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Engañosamente Barato para los precios de Chicago, pero sólo porque Las reciones son muy muy pequeñas ...
ambiente muy oscuro
Absolutely yummy food. The sangria was a total hit. Friendly and helpful staff. Love this place!
We checked in with one hostess then checked in again with a different hostess at a different desk. Weird.
Hostess assumed it was my birthday. It was not, nor did anything in the reservation notes suggest it was.
Host did not pull out any chairs while seating us and seemed annoyed.
Table was dirty-we had to clean it with one of the extra roll-ups.
Busser brought way too much bread for 2 people-so wasteful!
Burrata was too runny in the center-almost watery.
The line cooks kept dropping things and slamming a door (oven?) throughout our dinner.
Beer list is small with some peculiar selections.
No one acknowledged or thanked us on our way out.
Plenty of vegetarian options
Server brought out a little dessert with a candle for my girlfriend's birthday.
Busser was helpful and friendly, server was like a robot-cold and emotionless. Still left over 20% tip.
I get this is a casual restaurant, but there is much room for improvement.
All in all, it was just ok.
Good food, great drinks! Love this place and it’s one of my go-to Chicago restaurants
The food was great, but our server was horrible. She forgot one guests meal and dessert. When asked to bring something with our meal, and not ahead of time, that wasn’t done as requested. She would disappear and not return for most of the dinner. We were never offered a second drink. And she took forever getting the check to us. What normally is a wonderful meal was ruined by this waitress.
Always great at this location.
It was too loud for conversation but the food was excellant
Went here to celebrate my daughter’s new job and move to Chicago. Great assortment of tapas, favorites were the short rib, #1 Pintxos Chorizo wrapped dates, grilled salmon and more. Killer reasonably priced wine was from Malaga Bodega...? Little loud acoustically but we had a great time. Highly recommend this spot!
My husband and I came here for an early anniversary / congratulatory dinner with another couple. It was our first time and we will definitely be back! We had so much fun! The food was amazing, we were able to try things that we normally wouldn’t, the prices are very reasonable! Best part - multiple flavors of sangria ON TAP!
I definitely recommend this place for just about any occasion. It’s a cozy enough environment for a date, but there are plenty of large tables to accommodate groups.
The plate for grilling the garlic shrimp has changed and mine was underdone.
Service was great!
Enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. Service was quite good too.
Me encanta su restaurante. Comida, ambiente, todo fue maravilloso. Mis hijos me lo recomendaron. Mil gracias!!!!
We came to celebrate a friends birthday that was visiting from Seattle. The food options for the 4 of us were amazing with a lot of variety. Our server was on top of it and checked in to make sure we received everything we ordered. We were all pretty hungry after walking around Chicago all day and ordered 13 tapas plates including a double serving of paella. I would recommend a couple less dishes, we definitely had some leftovers. 100% order the bacon wrapped dates and croquets. Will definitely be coming back to try what we didn’t order this time around!
Tim waited on us and he was great, patient with us and very accommodating. Some of the dishes were hits and some were just so-so. Spicy potato and garlic potato salad were great. The sausage and meat paella had some of the sausages burnt and the dish was a little oily. We had croquettes, the mushroom, pinxtos and they were ok. The custard desserts were really good. The banana caramel would have been good if the ice cream wasn’t melted. All in all, the experience was ok.
One of my favorite places to go for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
Great Place for Tapas, Excellent and Quick Service. Delicious food. Our only complaint was the extremely loud noise level when we were first seated, but the server quickly moved us to a quieter spot upon our request.
