Nice spot, busy on a weekend. Brunch prices are exorbitant. Place was packed though!
Service very slow - surprising for weekend brunch. Many people behind the counter wandering around and wiping glassware (though drinks took forever too) who perhaps should have helped the kitchen.
As always, the ethos of this place rings true. We love the food. We love the space; particularly on a glorious sunny day. That said, this is the third visit in a row where the service has been deflating - as in, it is was so bad this visit that my fries didn’t taste as good. For example, it took the server 15 minutes (I think it was her third visit to the table) before offering me coffee. I actually didn’t even order coffee when she finally asked because my diastolic was getting the best of me. Not to mention: the place was not full (although I think the patio was busy). I’m all about being understanding with service - people (myself included) have bad days. But this is the third consecutive visit where the service was amateur. While this isn’t haute cuisine, it isn’t Denny’s either. Cafe Belong needs to Bebetter.
Only thing that may prevent me from going back was the parking on a Saturday morning during farmers market. It was a mess
We enjoyed the patio scene and the food was unique and good
Belong has been a favourite for birthdays and treats, but today was very disappointing. Service was incredibly slow—we Waited about 40 minutes at least for our meal and we were both disappointed with the dishes we ordered. When I told the server why I didn’t like the dishes, she dismissed my complaint because my dish was “a favourite”. My friend ordered pancakes which were burned and over cooked and she wasn’t offered more coffee. I don’t believe that Belong offers good value now. Apart from being unhappy with our meal, the cafe was extremely noisy; there was a party with attendees who were screaming and yelling, so all in all, this was a negative experience and I doubt that I’ll book it again.
The food is just good. The portions are very large to match the price tag, but too large. The service was good enough but not great, again, for these kind of prices.
I would come back only because it's in a very nice setting (brickworks) and the cocktails are pleasant.
Delicious food and professional service.
A little pricey for what you get. Considering this a destination spot and far off the beaten path, I suppose they think they can charge high prices for not overly exceptional food. You are a captive audience and I felt taken advantage of from that perspective. $75 for two people for lunch - without any alcohol- is a bit too much.
Much pricier than expected, but great food, service, and patio. Would go back!
We always enjoy Café Belong and the Sunday summer meal menu did not disappoint. We started with a delicious light arugula and apricot salad, then moved to a roast beef meal with fantastic sides, and topped it off with a black forest cake! The drinks, ambiance and food were all lovely and I would highly recommend it!
Great brunch spot. Food is always delicious. They have a very nice patio and staff is very pleasant and accommodating. Also very family friendly.
My salad was bland on bland. Entree was grilled veg and again totally tasteless. So disappointing. We love going there for brunch and expect the same high standard for dinner. Don’t know whether it is the Civic long weekend when the chefs are away or something. It is just off with the overall experience.
Wonderful experience. Friendly and professional staff, great setting, both indoor and patio available. Wonderful healthy natural tasty food.
Love this place. One of my favourite in Toronto. With the Farmers market on Saturday the parking is a bit of a challenge but absolutely worth going.
Everything was perfect except the table of very irritating people next to us! Not much you can do about that.
Brought some family visiting from Sweden. We had a wonderful time and food and service were great as per usual. You will continue to be a “must” stop when I show visitors around town.
It was nice simple food in a bright setting; staff were nice and helpful- a little noisy but that did improve
We’ve been coming here for many years. The food is always great, the service is inconsistent but usually good, the prices - and this is from someone who usually does not pay attention, are REALLY expensive, especially for brunch. We were asked for the table 1:30 into our brunch - that was unusual and while we were leaving anyway - we found that peculiar. Than again it’s a peculiar place - in a good way mostly.
An amazing experience made better by the amazing employees!
I have been to Cafe Belong on many occasions in the last year — both for lunch and dinner, both ordering a la carte and the communal meal. This recent visit was the first time my co-diners and I weren’t thoroughly pleased. We ordered the fish communal meal — our group had allergies to certain shellfish and lobster, so chef provided a beef dish (exceedingly undercooked) as our fourth dish. Every single dish we were served included asparagus, and while we all enjoy asparagus, it was too much of the same thing. Also, we were served smoked trout and scallops — all good, but every time I go it has been the same and I would hope the kitchen could vary their fish selection. Otherwise, service was friendly and lovely as always and I will return — just not for a while.
Scallops were delish. The tart’s are just ok.
my guest and I had a very pleasant experience and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.
We were there with the crew for Father’s Day Brunch - food was delicious and the service was great!
Live this place and have since its opened
We came for lunch with a disabled friend. The reviews from friends had been good. There was no problem with access and we loved the food!
First time at Café Belong! Very quiet on the patio. Fantastic service, waitresses were great. Food was awesome and all local.
The atmosphere at Cafe Belong was lovely. The restaurant was busy but it didn’t feel crowded. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious too! It’s quite pricey, but a nice treat for a Saturday afternoon.
I most recently enjoyed a Saturday lunch on the patio. Despite a large number of covers, service is attentive but not in-your-face. I had an excellent Riesling from Beamsville (Leaning Post) paired with the vegetable frittata. The thing I love about this place is the attention to detail and the healthy portion sizes: not grossly gigantic, not stingy. The lovely side salad served with my frittata was perfectly dressed with a light vinaigrette. Simple and very tasty.
Highly recommend for lunch. Never been for dinner, but I would imagine it's great, too.
Your restaurant needs a vegetarian entree option with a protein component. Roasted veggies are not sufficient, nor are they worth $22 on their own. Stop feeding vegetarians side dishes.
I really loved my dish. It was original, fresh and very tasty. My husbands did not like his pork at all but the staff was understanding and offered an alternative. I can see they work with their heart and I would recommend the place to every one. Just listen carefully what they offer and if you’re not sure, order something else.
This place is fantastic. The servers are always a pleasure and the chef makes simple food stand out. Local ingredients and beautiful paths are located around the restaurant so after you leave with a full belly you can enjoy the nature around. Best part there are often farmers markets, beer festivals and such in front of the restaurant that just add to the experience. Whether you sit inside or outside it's totally worth it.
Sunday brunch. Extremely expensive for what we ordered. Eggs with kale, very soggy and kale was over abundant. Coffee was good. Not a place the 4 of us would go back to. Due to the good weather the service was slow. Patio was pleasant and dining with friends made the experience better than it might have been.
The location is lovely, the food was delicious; just a bit of attitude from a couple of the people who worked there. A little bit stuck up. One of the waitresses who was speaking to us about the menu rolled her eyes at the neighbouring table that had a small child in the midst of a temper tantrum. The parents dealt with it, so it was no big deal, she should not have let her emotions show in front of customers. It was a Sunday morning- brunch-lots of families.
We will go back, just hope that the people who seat and serve us cut the attitude. Nothing turns us off more of a place even if their food is great. Service is important!
My friend and I meet once a month for lunch and always at Cafe Belong.
We’re never disappointed in the service or the food.
Mother’s Day Brunch
It was our mother's day celebration. I was very touch when I was presented with a lovely gift; a beautiful hand made bar of soap by the manager. The food was excellent and plentiful. Since I just arrived from Geneva I also founded it very reasonably in price.
We will recommended to friends and go back soon.
Service was weak. Worst since we began going years ago.
My girlfriend and I went on a Thursday evening and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We shared the large salad and the duck entree and they are both outstanding and plenty of food. We sat outside which was nice but no view to speak of. What is stunning about this venue is the marshland. If you haven’t been it’s a gem.
