Taking mum out
Great experience, thank you very much!
Truly incredible food and outstanding service; worth every penny. I have 15 food allergens and they handled each of them gracefully. Will be sure to come back next time I’m in Yorkville - 5 stars to Daniel Boulud and his team.
I’m quite disappointed in this experience. I am a big fan of This chef and couldn’t wait to try this restaurant knowing it was at the Four Seasons and they’d only have the best.
The food was a let down. I shared the rack of lamb for two with one of my dining companions. The fat was not rendered at all. What? At Cafe Boloud? My other dining companion ordered the profiterole for dessert. The presentation was quite spectacular but again, the dish was very disappointing. They were not at all profiteroles, and the cookie base on them was soggy as could be.
The worst part of the meal though, was the table of a family with 3 children seated next to us. The children were very loud and climbing out of their chairs and running around, banging in to our table repeatedly. This was not McDonald’s. This was Cafe Boloud at the Four Seasons at 10:00 pm. What? A $600 meal for 3 should have been so much better and so much more enjoyable. I will not go back next time I’m in Toronto.
Our experience was incredible. I had the duck confit which was cooked to perfection, my friend had the porcelet also delicieux! The wait staff was attentive, the decor retro mid-century modern, the chairs not only stylish but extremely comfortable. I would for sure come back for another special dinner.
extremely noisy and could not carry on conversation
Wonderful charcuterie as usual. Veal/veal sweetbreads dish very good. Highlight was individual grand mariner souffles. Somewhat noisy with live music coming up from the bar below. Still a great place which we will revisit.
We took advantage of the last day on which they offered the Summerlicious Menue. We came here because of the recommendation of our daughter and were equally delighted by all the three courses we have chosen.
The food was absolutely perfect and the service attentive and welcoming.
We highly recommend this restaurant for any foody with high standards.
When I arrive in Cafe’ I booked purposely for Summerlicous 2018 at lunch, the website of open table is available for me to book for lunch in summerlicous 2018. When I arrive in Cafe’, the greeter told me that Summerlicous is not available on Sunday, they only offer brunch. I am absolutely surprised and not happy about it.
Since we have booking and we already there, we try their food. Their food and service are outstanding.
At least, we have some comfort on food and service.
If you ask me to go there again, I will say NO.
It is not honest way to accommodate the customer by being a good Hotel.
I came to this restaurant last year at the same time for my birthday (also during summerlishious) and everything was impecable, from the food to the service. This year however, we were shocked by the difference in the quality of the food and lackluster service. The crême fresh atop the oysters was a poor combination, the salmon served with corn was incredibly boring, and the short rib sauce was viscous and lacked finesse. Finally, we asked for one of the desserts to be packed to-go, however our server forgot about it.
So overall, not the experience we expected based on last year. It’s too bad because Boulud name is typically synonymous with refinement.
Wonderful food — always beautifully executed — classic with a twist.
Wonderful music resonating from d Bar below and the food was exceptional. Would definitely come back and check out d Bar another time.
great food prompt and friendly service. Portion sizes can be a bit larger for the price. Overall great experience.
Our server was rude, not really Canadian.
He said “just give me your card” while making a hand motion used by someone who hates dogs.
Food was unsatisfactory, no passion.
While being seated initially by the manager we were then forced to move without any logical reason.
Service of this place does not reflect the price.
I’m in the Canadian armed forces, so for me a simple diner with burger and fries is fine for me but this lunch was for my girlfriend who is into finer places. She was disappointed and Puts me further off from this fake egotistical place.
The menu is very well designed. Each dish gives the expected flavour. The only drawback is that it is a bit noisy since we sat next to a large group of 12 people. Otherwise, overall it was a good experience.
They served us raw chicken. Then they rushed us out before the third course when we mentioned it.
We were there to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We sat for 15 minutes and nobody cared for our order, there was no bread served. After another 15 minutes, there was bread served, but the waiter said we had to finish our meal after 1 hour and 15 minutes because of the tight booking on Saturday. The waiters there didn't show any passion to serve the guests nor any smile on their faces. Apparently it was understaff and the restaurant was over-booked, very noisy place! I was told they would write 'happy birthday' words on the plate of the dessert, but it didn't happen, sadly. Next time when I go, maybe shouldn't pick the Summerlicious dates, too crowded, poor service...
Slow service and hit/miss dishes. Would not go back.
Reservation was at 8pm, we were not seated until 8:30pm. Did not receive our appetizers until closer till 9:45pm and were eating out main courses at 10:30pm. Really not acceptable for a restaurant at this price point.
Appetizers were great. We were excited and happy to wait for the mains.
Mains were poor. All 5 diners main proteins were dry and overcooked.
Dessert was great. Birthday girl got a candle and complementary Madelines.
Great Summerlicious pre-fix menu! Really delicious and well presented. Waiter arranged for birthday candle for one of our guests.
Strange for an upscale restaurant, the hostess warned us that we would only have 2 hours to occupy the table. Never had that happen even in a lower end place. Not appropriate for the Four Seasons.
Noise level was quite high.
I was here for winterlicious and the food was outstanding with great value for money. This year, the summerlicious menu was utterly bland, some of the dishes I could have put together myself - salmon was slightly over cooked and the desserts were nothing special. I expected so much more, as Cafe Boulud prides itself on serving a selection of their regular food during winter/summerlicious festivals but this wasn't the case in my experience.
great food, great value, great waiter Mike. Look forward to our next visit
Waited 45 mins for table. Food ok but expensive.
Food was unique, favourite dishes was the nicoise salad and was pleasantly surprised by the mint crust of the apricot mousse. Most other patrons looked to be having their business meals there which definitely did not make for a quiet sitting. Service was slow but meals were served warm(?) Would recommend dressing to dress code as the resto is part of the four seasons.
Amazing experience! Went for summerlicious. The staff was very attentive and courteous. They accidentally brought the wrong dessert but didn’t make a fuss at all when asked about it - instead they let us keep the extra dessert and then went to fetch the correct one!
I went for Summerlicous and the food was delicous and the wine excellent all at an an incredible value. The atmosphere was relaxed and chic. It made for a very enjoyable afternoon with friends.
My sister ordered the grilled kale breast of duck salad which arrived with mostly romaine lettuce. I ordered the seared ahi tuna salad which arrived with canned tuna. When I complained I was given an apology that “the chief forgot the seared tuna” and was presented with small side plate of 5 pieces of refrigerated seared tuna. As a formal apology, we were treated to a free profiteroles dessert which was outstanding for its presentation of chocolate sauce and taste. Again we received an apology from our server and maître de. While the dessert was lovely, I question why a 5 star chef and 5 star restaurant would forget the seared ahi tuna from a seared ahi tuna salad. This is why I won’t be returning.
Lunch was great. Booked on-line for the Summerlicious lunch, only to be told when we arrived that it was not available on Sunday. Had a great meal anyway!
Table was not ready when we arrived but we were not offered a drink at the bar which is normal in such a situation. Awkward 10minutes with lots of people standing around waiting. Once seated however they really did themselves proud. Our waiter was outstanding, his attention to detail and monitoring our progress, refilling glasses etc was top quality. This really was a fine dining experience. The music was a little noisy for my liking, so I would not call it a place for an intimate meal but the food was creative and full of flavour. Great for sitting back enjoying fine food and wine. Yes it costs but I do not think it was overpriced for the experience.
What you would expect from a Daniel Boulud establishment....great food...great service!!!!!
Had such a great time on my first visit I decided to try Boulud again. Right decision. Our server Melodie was great, very attentive to the table's needs.
The food was also spot on !
We got there a few minutes before our reservation and there was only one table waiting before us and the hostess decided to sit everyone except us we were one of the last table to get seated wasn’t very impressed by this
Had summerlicious menu - never a fan of summerlicious menu.
Had the dessert from the menu as well.
But order givre after the menu s dessert.
Would go back but will not try summerlicious menu again.
I had a very nice evening here and I definitely will return.
Excellent customer service with great, honest recommendations and more than expected portion sizes. I had the Steak frites and to be honest was a bit disappointed. The steak was great, but no sauce and the frites were just ok - nothing to rave about.
We love the roast chicken and come back every time we visit from LA.
It seems difficult for a restaurant to achieve a high standard and yet maintain a comfortable atmosphere, as is the case with Cafe Boulud. The quality of the food and the service are outstanding! The Chilled Pea Soup tasted like fresh peas, the Cod Meuniere was light and flavourful, the Chocolate Cake was delicious beyond description. Unfortunately, the ambiance is fussy and somewhat pretentious.
This was our 4th visit to Boulud. Unfortunately this visit was a huge disappointment to us. We decided to try the rotisserie chicken which is touted as being Daniel Boulud's signature dish. Sadly, it did not even remotely live up to our expectations. We did not complain, but our waiter did notice that we were not eating and informed management who removed the dinner charge from our bill after speaking with us. Although we appreciate that they went the extra mile, we are likely not to return in near future.
I always come to cafe every year and they never disappoint
The menu for summerlicious was good, service was perfect. I definitely recommend to my friends and will come back again.
Waiter was slow and not attentive.
Pretty poor service overall.
