About Café Boulud

Café Boulud is Chef Daniel Boulud’s reimagined French Brasserie located in the Four Seasons Hotel in Yorkville, Toronto. The restaurant serves a seasonally changing menu rooted in French tradition, highlighting both bistro classics and contemporary dishes inspired by Chef Daniel’s family meals in Lyon.

A gleaming rotisserie is used to slow-roast chicken à la broche, whole lobster, and even rum-scented pineapple. We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, and offer brunch on Sundays.

Designed by Martin Brudnizki of London. The vintage-inspired ambiance is highlighted by a comfortable lounge and wraparound banquettes, a dining counter, and a semi-private room that accommodates up to eight guests. The restaurant has received several accolades since its renovation including Best Restaurant in Canada at the Notable Awards and Canada's Hundred Best Restaurants.

Disappointing. Service was virtually non-existent. The waiter charged my credit card for $27.12 more than what the bill was for. When I went to him to question it, he apologized, went to process the correct amount and swiped somebody else's credit card instead. I pointed it out to him, he said 'oh', then proceeded to swipe my card for the amount again. I informed the manager who didn't seem to care. Needless to say I'll be double checking my credit card statement to make sure I wasn't billed multiple times or for incorrect amounts.

Hostess was terrible. When asked to be seated she said that there was a 45 minute wait. The restaurant was empty. I️ then made a reservation online on open table while I️ stood in front of the hostess, at that point she was able to seat me immediately??? Because now I️ had a reservation??? Before that she told me that perhaps I️ should eat downstairs at the bar. Terrible hostess.

First visit to Cafe Boulud since the decor change. Very impressed. In fact, did not even recognize the space since my last visit. Our waiter was outstanding - helpful, friendly, and courteous. The food was excellent. My wife and I shared the charcuterie plate - quite different than a traditional Italian plate - this French charcuterie was a selection of hand-crafted terrines. Terrific. Our mains (10oz Strip and Duck Leg) were also prepared well. A sizeable, delicious side of fries was a nice accompaniment.

The entire experience made for a nice night for my wife's birthday and our anniversary.

After an intense search for ricotta pancakes throughout the city, Cafe Boulud was the only ones we found so decide them to try them for my birthday.

The overall food is amazing, the pancakes while quite different from the ones I had in Tokyo, are more like crepes and the tangy of the lemon combined with the sweetness is perfect.

Every piece of food is cooked to perfection.

Frequent this spot for something quick and easy. Disappointed with the waiter who was clueless at best and the duck confit breakfast had a pungent odor and foul taste. Was slightly shocked to say the least.

The food was very good and the service was excellent. I was disappointed that on weekends there is no lunch menu; only brunch. I was also disappointed that there was no indication on the menu that the pike quenelles I ordered had a lot of eggs in them; I would have appreciated knowing that, as I do not eat eggs because of the very high content of cholesterol. Also, the Prossecco was $14 a glass, which seemed steep.

I've been to Boulud many times for dinner and the quality of the food and ambiance never disappoints. It's absolutely delicious, which is why I keep returning. My one issue is that we booked specifically to enjoy their lunch menu on a Saturday, which was available according to their website. The only menu presented upon our arrival, however, was a fixed-price brunch menu. Definitely not what we expected. It was for a special birthday nibble and we could hardly leave. So we had no choice but to select a combo of main along with starter and/or dessert. Far too much for what we had anticipated.

Surprisingly extensive menu for lunch service made choosing a nice challenge. Appetizers (soup and pate) were flavourful and interesting takes on what could have otherwise been simply traditional. Main courses of salade nicoise and steak frites also had enough 'chef's take' to elevate them above the expected. Did I mention the generous portions. . .

Where do I even start...

Let's be real, Cafe Boulud is one of the top 20 restaurants of Canada for a reason. A modern french bistro located n the Four Seasons Hotel in Yorkville that serves spectacular french food. That's it!

I thought just how good can this place be? Why the rave?

We visited this restaurant about a month and a half ago after just returning from Europe. After having tasted some of the best foods over there, I was not expecting too much from Cafe Boulud. But boy was I wrong... SO WRONG. We had the steak frites, quenelle de brochet, and the cauliflower. I am still thinking about that cauliflower to date. It has ruined me for any other cauliflower steaks anywhere else forever. The steak and frites was exceptional - juicy and tender medium rare steak with duckfat-fried crisp fries. Quenelle de brochet in lobster sauce tasted like nothing I've had before - simply, finger-licking good. I was blown away by the first experience.

Fortunately, I had the pleasure to revisit the restaurant for lunch recently. We had the escargot puff pastry, beef cheeks and the white truffle pork sausage. The escargot puff pastry was alright, not their best. BUT, please allow me to rave a little about their white truffle pork sausage. It was not what I expected at all. The sausage was light, fluffy, creamy, and airy in consistency. Not dense yet flavourful and aromatic. The whole dish took me by surprise, and left me wanting more.

Cafe Boulud will remain as one of my personal bias in Toronto until I can find a place to top it. It is simply delicious. Please keep up the great food, and I will be back!

I really like this place, been here five times. Overall I would recommend it. There's just this one waiter we've had about 3 times, he's pretty slow, and a bit forgetful. Sometimes I need to ask him for things a couple of times. I don't think That's acceptable considering the price range this restaurant is at. Otherwise, I really love a lot of their dishes and their desserts are outstanding.

I was simply disappointed, sorry. My friend and I, we both ordered scallops as a main dish (entre) and I couldn't believe how bland and uneventful this dish was!!! I expected food to be much more creative and unique for this kind of high end restaurant - it was a very average but overpriced food, sadly. Waiter who was serving us was polite but absolutely lacking a bit of humor or personality...We felt like we're something to be put up with, not to be pleasure having us around. Will not return for sure. This is nowhere what previous (old) Four Season's Hotel restaurant used to be. I eat out frequently and I'm quite familiar with French cousine but this experience wasn't not even close to what French dining is, sorry.

Being a lover of fine dining and enjoying the Toronto scene for 35+ years, I feel it behooves me to share this experience with others, especially new people on the Toronto scene. Cafe Boulud takes me back to what fine dining is all about. Add an eclectic degree of ambiance and you are sure to have a most memorable experience. My wife and I started the evening with cocktails in the lounge and both the front desk staff as well as the Maitre d' were first class. After cocktails we dined on the wonderful, fresh oysters, the best steak tartare in the city, perfectly cooked scallops (not over done) and lastly the most exceptional rotisserie chicken I have ever experienced which is carefully brined beforehand, prepared to perfection in their oven and served in a way that elevates the juiciest chicken in Toronto to a whole new status. The wait staff were conscientious, timely and extremely professional. They are great ambassadors of both the Cafe as well as the industry itself.
Thanks to your staff for helping make our special getaway weekend so enjoyable. We moved from Toronto just 4 years ago to Niagara-on-the-Lake but we make regular weekend trips back into the city to get our "fix" of culinary experiences. Cafe Boulud is always on the docket because of the staff, the ambiance and the wonderful food. Once again, thank you for another repeat performance and we look forward to our next visit.

It seems to be a place where the food is an afterthought. Beautiful spot for people watching but the food was not very good for the money spent. Example, a flat iron steak with frites was mediocre and over priced for sure a cheap cut of beef. Oysters were very good but that's down the availability and the ocean. Not much else. Outside the fact that the wine is outrageously overpriced. Not recommended really but maybe just do oysters when Tiff is on and that it.

Our family had one of our best dining experiences at Cafe Boulud for Thanksgiving. The prix fixe menu had offerings that appealed to us all and we enjoyed everything we chose: kale salad, foie gras, turkey with trimmings, halibut, braised beef and a delectable trio of desserts. Everything was perfectly prepared and flavourful. Shea and Dennis provided exceptional service, warm and attentive, making us feel very special and welcome. The whole evening was a treat!
