Eggplant stuffed with sautéed spinach & roasted peppers, topped with our four cheese blend served with seared polenta & vegetables
W. Prosciutto, fire roasted tomatoes, arugula & shaved Asiago.
W. a sherry cream sauce & fresh tarragon.
We enjoyed our first time in the Tuscan garden. The space heaters kept us warm. We felt as though we were actually in Italy! Our server Lilly was very personable and attentive. We shared the roasted peppers and lemon shrimp for an appetizer. Both were delicious. The bolognese and the steak and gorgonzola gnocchi were flavorful and savory. We would dine there again if the weather cooperates.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Cafe Capriccio. The food and service was excellent and memorable.
Great experience, great staff, the food was out of this world.
Lovely, cozy nook with delicious food and attentive service. Nice jazz trio playing that Friday night, quaint decor and surroundings. This would be quite charming on a cold, snowy evening. It was stifling with heat on that warm and humid October evening, there was no ventilation or air-conditioning.
Visiting from NYC - made a reservation of 7.45 pm. Reached earlier and was asked to wait at the bar which was totally acceptable but there were 2 empty tables which they wouldn’t give to us because they were “reserved “ for someone else. 7.55 we enquire if our table is ready and the maitre de rudely says no it’s not. When asked why they have empty tables reserved for people not there but no respect for our reservation the answer was rude nonchalant. We got up to leave but stayed because one of the servers Christina came to apologize and was very sweet. If not for her this restaurant is not worth at all. Food is average- other waitstaff were extremely rude.
Recommend offering bread with meal. Tradition to Italian dining.
The Tuscan Garden is a great addition to the Capriccio dining experience. Even with a little rain, the covered patio area felt cozy and comfortable. The service was outstanding. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We felt very rushed. Didn’t have a chance to even order drinks and look at the menu before we were asked to order. We didn’t receive leftovers that we asked to have boxed… good food, fair service..
Just flat out quality Italian fare. There's a reason they've been around forever.
If you want beautifully prepared meals, impeccable service, and great ambience, get yourself to Cafe Capriccio. A delicious evening for the entire family!
All things considered this is a very good restaurant however with one pause. The staff are unwilling to accommodate small requests that deviate from the menu listing. I asked if I could add a small amount of pasta to a second course (second courses do not include pasta) and I was told under no circumstance can they include pasta. I was told I had to order a full pasta order (15-30 dollars) if I wanted pasta. I was celebrating my friends birthday and the total bill was about 200 dollars however a request for a small side order of pasta maybe 25 cents worth was inconceivable.
Delicious food and great service!
Service was absolutely horrible. It should not take two hours to finish serving bruschetta and chicken francese.
The new fall menu is fantastic. Several new items.
Authentic high-quality Italian food served by an attentive staff in a quiet, warm setting. Dinner for two with drinks and dessert in the $100 - $150 range, so a special occasion destination for me, but definitely worth it. I've dined here a number of times and have always been pleased.
Our waiter Lane was fantastic. Food was great and overall experience amazing. Felt like we were in the Upper East Side!
The team of 3 servers were all excellent pro's! Great suggestions, anticipated our needs. Spot on cocktails and a nice Medicci estate red blended wine recommendation. Food was as usual incredible. Eggplant Quatro Formaggio portion was not what I've experienced here and at the former Saratoga location...several layers of Eggplant rather than only one layer of delishousness. The gnocchi Siciliano was really terrific...nice and light fluffy pillows.. Cherry Garcia dessert was WOW...and I normally am not a dessert guy. Glad I splurged...and shared. Unfortunately for us...but awesome for Chef...he was stuck in Tuscany.
Great dinner, all were happy with their meals. Service is fast, efficient & friendly. I loved my eggplant, beet & orange salad and the veal was delish.
A true hidden gem. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was evocative of a neighborhood Italian restaurant from the 1950s. We loved it!
Fantastic dinner with excellent service! Loved the gnocchi! First visit, and definitely not our last!
Wait staff was disorganized and did not consistently follow through with requests/orders for our party of eight. One server was downright unfriendly and openly annoyed to have to deal with us. Oddly, an Italian restaurant with Aperol Spritz cocktails on the menu ran out of prosecco before 9pm.
Needed a nice place in Albany to take a colleague and was recommended Cafe Capriccio. Upon sitting we were both impressed with the anti pasta menu, so impressed we decided to order one of everything! EVERYTHING was superb! The Scallop & Chorizo was to die for. The scallops were cooked to perfection with a nice sear on each side, and the chorizo was crisp but still chewy. The Seasame encrusted tuna was was amazing, so cold, so fresh and literally melted in your mouth. The pork belly was also a star of the table, i could have ate the cherry pepper crema by the spoonful! It was spicy, but complimented the fatty pork belly so well! I could eat the greens and beans for breakfast lunch and dinner... And of course, an honorable mention has to go to the Burrata! Soooo salty, so creamy, so good! About half way through our dinner an amazing 3 piece band started playing! It was amazing, the food, the wine, the ambiance, I literally cant say enough! I wish I would have taken my husband here instead of a colleague because clearly we got little to no work done with our commentary on the food and listening to the band, but it was worth finding this little gem! Thank you to the chef and staff for an amazing evening, you'll be seeing more of me!
Food and service was excellent as always. Never disappoints!
This is the best restaurant in Albany, hands down. I've been there probably 30 times over the years, and the staff is exceptional, the food great, and the setting classic. If you have a special occasion and don't consider Cafe Capriccio, shame on you...
A former colleague and I enjoyed excellent meals and the staff was extraordinarily attentive.
We’ve been going to this restaurant for over 30 years and have always enjoyed it. It was apparent right away that they were seriously “ in the weeds”. We were seated promptly but other than getting water weren’t greeted for some time. We understood and were patient. When the appetizers were finally served we had no silverware. When I asked for bread she said they didn’t have any! We were shocked! I wouldn’t have ordered the greens and beans or the eggplant if I had known! The eggplant was cold and the greens and beans did not resemble what I’ve enjoyed several dozens of timesaver the years . We had them wrapped up to reheat and try to improve the greens the next day. Feeling glum about our choice of restaurant for a nice dinner at this point, luckily dinner finally arrived. The veal chop and the scallops were both excellent. At first I thought perhaps they are extremely busy because of the recent times union article and had been really slow lately so that’s why they were unprepared? But then I used the restroom and it sounded like a big fun party going on through the ceiling. On our way out I asked if there was a big chef’s table going on upstairs. That’s when I heard about the new patio with a large menu. That explained it. They’re spreading themselves too thin. Apparently the greens n beans were watered down to feed the masses. We’ve always loved this restaurant and will give it another try.
Everything was great - as it always is. Eggplant with 4 Cheeses is the BEST!!
It’s our go to place Friday evenings! What a great way to start the weekend. Fabulous food, great drinks and a caring and attentive staff!
Always very pleasant. The steak a colleague had looked terrific. Compared to my first visit, this one was a step down to OK - the first visit was excellent. Not really a criticism of this particular visit, but the waitress/manager was exceptional last time and may have set the bar too high. I had the ravioli special and thought the red sauce was very average. Looking forwards to going back, maybe sitting at the bar, and expect a bounce-back experience.
We took a chance on a recommendation from our hotel for Cafe Capricious, and we were so glad we did. What a delightful delicious dinner. Nice wines by the glass-fresh tasty salads and then I ordered the house made burrata ravioli with a tomato cream sauce-absolutely one of the gest pasta dishes i have ever had. Hubby had the house made Puttanesca and it was layers of flavor. Highly recommend this restaurant. Nice helpful bartender who also makes the yummy Cheesecake.
Wonderful every time we eat there
Great time! Fabulous food! Loved the atmosphere and service!
Wonderful as always! The scallops and sausage appetizer was great and of course their homemade ravioli is special!
Loveliest dinner I have had in a long time!
The food and service were both outstanding and memorable! The special pizza for the evening was delicious and made a great appetizer to share! Oh, and the Manhattans are fabulous!!
Top notch cuisine
Great food, great service, warm, friendly atmosphere. I love the feel of the place, and the food is always interesting and delicious! A true gem!
An old school Italian restaurant with some interesting takes on classic dishes. Everything is done very well and the servers were a delight. Found this place on Open Table as we are traveling through Albany. Very pleasantly surprised.
Food was amazing. Service was great and they made excellent recommendations! Can’t wait to eat there again!
Delicious meal, wonderful servers and cozy atmosphere!
