Cafe Carlo is a friendly, unpretentious Canadian bistro located in Winnipeg’s Little Italy neighborhood. Cafe Carlo’s warm, comfortable atmosphere has been a staple in Winnipeg’s dining scene and continues to be considered among the city’s best restaurants since it was established in 1989. The atmosphere and the décor have evolved from the restaurant’s humble “rummage sale” chic beginnings. The owners and employees believed that a great restaurant simply was meant to be “about the food”. The passion of the very first employees and their love of food & drink remain intact to this day.     Very noisy... Temperature was cold and everyone was wearing coats or sweaters....finally had to ask for the heat to be turned up. Food was good Service was amazing.

    The food was good; however, our server was rude and curt every time she came to our table. We were there to celebrate our friends birthday and honestly it made me feel embarrassed that we were the ones that chose the restaurant for the special occasion. I called ahead a pre-ordered a birthday cake; however, when it came time to clear plates and ask if we wanted to see a desert menu and was about to walk away, I had to remind her of that. Her apology was insincere.

    Our meal was wonderful, the service was good, but the noise from a loud table of 6 men made it almost impossible the two of us (across the room) to hear each other speak. We found it noisy there on a previous visit but never unbearable as it was last night. I'm afraid that we won't return in the evening at least.

    Food is amazing! Quality ingredients and so flavourful! Our server was lovely and so friendly. Noise level can get loud at peak times. Otherwise, highly recommend this local gem!

    We walked in and were welcomed and seated at our table. Our waitress came to introduce herself, offered us drinks and explained the special. It was a wonderful evening, great service and food. It's no wonder Cafe Carlo is always busy. Definitely a place to to for an evening.

    Great little place, food is good, highly recommended the pasta dishes, deserts were delicious, atmosphere is great and the restaurant is fairly quick. This place is great for a date night, out with friends or family. My only suggestion would be to offer more specials.

    Had an amazing dinner last night. Food was perfect. Only small issue would have been the noisy children. However that’s our bad because we booked a very early reservation. Can’t wait to come back!

    Still wonderful, after all these years. We moved away many years ago, but always make a trip back to Cafe Carlo when we come back to Winnipeg. The quality of food and service is very high. Favourite dishes are still on the menu, and new additions do not disappoint, either. Thank you to everyone for making our night memorable, yet again. A gem in Winnipeg.

    We enjoyed celebrating my birthday at Cafe Carlos, our favourite place for dining. Our pasta dishes were so delicious and of course the birthday cake made my day! Thanks again for a wonderful birthday dinner celebration.

    This was our first ever visit and we would definitely go back! The service was good although the waitress forgot about us for some time and we weren’t seated with menu’s nor greeted for awhile after we were seated. Overall very friendly staff and attentive after our order was given. The food…WOW! The fett chille was so delicious and a dish I would get again for sure! They also served bread to the table with flavoured butter which that day was pizza flavoured. It was a nice touch! They have a variety of sharables or appetizers and we got the bruschetta. It was flavourful and a wonderful twist to a usual bruschetta. Ambiance was quite nice as well. Lights were low which made it feel more cozy! It was overall a great experience and we will be going back to try other tasty menu options!

    Still the best restaurant in Winnipeg as far as I am concerned. Great service, great food, I am a Fete 🌶️ fan and best seafood chowder that we have ever tasted. Value is excellent with decent wine prices and selection. Been coming here since it opened, some 35 years ago. Thanks Cafe Carlo.

    Cafe Carlo overall was a very enjoyable dining experience. Hostess and server Bonnie were excellent and the ambience was outstanding. Only negative comment would be the actual quality of the pasta--papardelle dishes were over-dressed with curry cream sauce and the spag boo spaghetti (spaghettini perhaps?) was congealed and clumped--too much something, not sure what. All still tasty, though, and much enjoyed. The recommended wine, an Italian Pinot Grigio (the exact name of which I can't remember) was excellent. As stated, we enjoyed our evening very much and our quibbles about the quality of the pasta would not be enough to deter us from a return visit, hopefully in the not-too-distant future.

    Great service, atmosphere and food ! We had the mussels Spring rolls , The vong & Chile fette. The sauce tasted a little different from the last time I had it a month ago , but it was still delicious ! The mojito is great too !
