Cafe Carlo is a friendly, unpretentious Canadian bistro located in Winnipeg’s Little Italy neighborhood. Cafe Carlo’s warm, comfortable atmosphere has been a staple in Winnipeg’s dining scene and continues to be considered among the city’s best restaurants since it was established in 1989. The atmosphere and the décor have evolved from the restaurant’s humble “rummage sale” chic beginnings. The owners and employees believed that a great restaurant simply was meant to be “about the food”. The passion of the very first employees and their love of food & drink remain intact to this day.     Bonnie provided us with outstanding service. The food was great but the seafood pasta was quite messy when trying to get the seafood out of the shell as their was sauce and cheese on it. The beef tenderloin was excellent and cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend eating there.

    The food, atmosphere, and service are all really good . We just found it very pricey for what you get…we were actually quite surprised by the food prices. Otherwise, a really nice night.

    As always, the food at Cafe Carlo was top notch. We had their specialty Caprese salad and everything on the plate was crisp and fresh (well, the cheese and tomatoes were fresh and the veggies were crisp). The fish tacos had a bit of “bite” and the pickerel on the tacos was delicious. And the butternut squash ravioli was tender where it had to be and so tasty, as always. It is such a great restaurant. Thank you.

    Casual atmosphere for a date night, not stuffy. We had the veal and the frett chilie. Both were delicious, generous portions. Ceasar salad, crème brûlée were great. Nice selection of wine and hand crafted cocktails. Servers were knowledgeable and looked after us well. We hope to get there again soon.

    Been a while since was at Cafe Carlo. The meal of one appetizer, one pasta and one main shared between two worked out perfectly. All three choices were absolutely amazing. The pan fried broccoli was the best broccoli I have ever had.

    Lovely spot. Tables were really close so be prepared to be part of your neighbours conversation. The Chicken Tacos were fantastic. Steak bites good but you need ot like gordonzola cheese. The seafood pasta was very tasty but the sauce was very runny and I like sauce that clings to my pasta. Service was great, good came out fast. Reservation is required.

    The stand out to me was the Appetizers Calamari and Steak bites delicious! We ordered Mojitos to drink and they were amazing. My meal was good but not outstanding. I ordered the Gnocchi with Beef Ragu. Something tells me had I chosen another didh I would have been happier with it. I also had the Creme Brûlée for dessert which was amazing! My husband had the Apple/cherry almond crumble and he said it was delish. I recommend going. The vibe was good and everyone at the table enjoyed themselves. Service was great.

    We enjoyed the meal and the experience generally, however the night ended questionably for us. While we were cognizant of the recommended duration for each sitting, there was no indication from our server that our table may have been needed nor did we witness any customers waiting to be seated. We would have gladly welcomed a gentle reminder about needing to wrap up our meal and would have certainly declined the dessert and coffee offered to us which extended our stay (in part due to the coffee not being served until dessert was finished). Instead, a party at our table overheard a staff member comment upon our leaving, that we we finally leaving, after having overstayed our welcome, and after one person in our group showed up late (due to horrendous traffic/construction beyond anyone’s control). This comment made on the floor for anyone to hear was unacceptable and unprofessional, even if not overheard by us, the apparent target of their ire. Lovely evening, until it ended on a sour note.

    The ambiance felt like Manhattan. The service was friendly and professional. The deep fried risotto Was amazing. I quite enjoyed the seafood special, and the French rosé by the glass was not only reasonably priced but sublime. We will definitely return.
