Cafe Chianti Ratings and Reviews
We went to Cafe Chianti on a girls weekend and we were not disappointed! The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was spectacular! We would definitely come again!
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. I am replaying the beautiful medley of flavours in my head, wish I lived close enough to enjoy another dinner soon.
Great service! Great food! Great atmosphere! Seafood crepes were to die for!
Great service and food, as always !
Food was outstanding service was not as friendly or relaxing as usual (new server?).
Very nice restaurant, the ambiance and service enhance a creative menu. The wine list is excellent and should you have a palate for a very special wine the owner's cellar is a rear treat.
The ambience and service were wonderful. My concerns were the with the food quality and the prices were on the high side. My chicken Parmesan was overdone and at $25.95 over priced as well. My friends lamb braised ravioli was tasty but at $25.95 she thought this was overpriced too. The tiramisu at $11.95 was overpriced for the small portion that was served. It had been my idea to try this restaurant and I should have checked out the menu first so that there were no surprises as well as checked the reviews ahead of time. Thx Barb
Very pleased with this restaurant. Server was efficient and friendly and the food was to die for. The wine list was comprehensive and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Would def recommend!
The service was uneven and the food was mediocre. Did not live up to reviews.
Bit of a deception to start, front window shows a table with linen tablecloth, but NO tables inside had them.
What I wished to order was "Sorry, we're all out" (at 7:00 pm) rather early to be running out.
Conversely when the wine I wanted was "out of stock" they upgraded my order at the same cost.
Overall quite respectable.
The menu is northern italian with a maritime seafood focus. It used to be east european specializing in hungarian dishes that were less common. Italian is common in Halifax. I miss those hungarian items like gholash . They should consider bringing some of them back for variety and to differentiate themselves.
was a great dining experience. The scallops are simply delicious. I was adventurous and tried the octopus, I a not a big fan. I am sure they are fantastic, if you like octopus but not for me. My server was great. He knew when to show up and when to be invisible, which is always a good thing when having dinner ad conversation with friends.
This restaurant came highly rated and was an easy walk from the Westin Nova Scotian. Great menu with attentive service staff, and good ambiance. The only negative that kept me from a 5 rating was my cannelloni came very hot and I needed to wait 10 minutes before eating it.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. However, the service was very slow at the start and a request for sparkling water was never filled. Otherwise, the waitress was friendly and somewhat knowledgable. Otherall, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Came here with friends for a birthday celebration. The food was outstanding. The server was personable and efficient. He was very funny too.
Great food, great service. We will be back for sure.
Had an excellent meal here - they are an Italian restaurant and they do an exceptional job! Our server was friendly and personable and thoroughly knew the menu and had excellent suggestions when I couldn't decide! My wife and I came for my birthday and the only let down was that OpenTable asks if you have any special request/notes to go with your reservation so for fun I put it was my birthday since that was the occasion. However the restaurant made no note of it at all - by no means an issue because it's just a birthday, but I figured why even ask then? Lol That was minor though - would definitely go again and the whole experience was among the best in Halifax!!
Amazing friendly service, tasty food and wine and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
Loved our waiter - recommended an amazing red wine to compliment our dinner
Wonderful evening. Staff was great, food was amazing. Highly recommend.
It was an overall pleasant experience and I would highly recommend it.
Don't let outside appearance fool you! Cafe Chianti is much bigger inside and is split into two main dining rooms. Great decor adds an authentic flair. Our server was super nice and brought us reading glasses when we realized we'd forgotten ours. Food was superb - would heartily recommend arancini or asparagus starters and the duck for mains. Finished off with super smooth crime brûlée
We went for our anniversary dinner. Originally wanted to go elsewhere, but it was too busy. Luckily we found this gem! It was a lovely place, almost felt like someone's home inside. The dining room was fairly full and, apart from waiting a while to be asked for initial drink order, everything came out quickly once order was in. Food was delicious - we got the calamari to start and for mains got the gnocchi and seafood linguini. The gnocchi was light and tender and the cheesy pomodoro sauce was very flavourful. The seafood in both our appetizer and linguini was all cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the lemon pannacotta, even though we were so full from all but licking our dinner plates, and it was the perfect light addition to finish the meal. All in all would highly recommend this restaurant and happy we ended up here instead of first choice!
Food is amazing.....service is even better....but the wine.....the best
It would have been nice to have more choices for vegetarians and a vegan option too.
Table as requested was provided. Our server "Scott" was great. The food was excellent
Don't know how we missed this one before. Excellent food and good value. We will return.
Excellent service attentif et professionnel , mets goûteux
We had been to Cafe Chianti before, and returned this time for our wedding anniversary. Because it was Monday night, it was nice and quiet. Our waiter was excellent, helped us to decide what we wanted to eat and was around just enough that we felt looked after without being bothered. the wine was excellent, likely the best caesar salad i have ever had, and both my wife and I had the chicken parm which was delicious. Recommend to any one looking for agreat meal downtown.
One of our favourite spots. Great food, good wine selection, good service and nice ambience.
My husband and I were on vacation in Nova Scotia, spending the day in Halifax. We decided to eat at Cafe Chianti because I had found a groupon for the restaurant. I'm so glad that we did! The food was excellent and our server was outstanding. I would highly recommend!!
A lovely dinner with outstanding service. The lamb ravioli was delicious as was the beet salad. Highly recommend and a bit out of the fray from downtown.
Great food....good portions -not too big....all the meals that people had were very good...my pasta was very tasty - perfect texture and spicing...dessert was fabulous - gelato. Great service, great ambience..thanks
Great experience. Food was delicious and there was lots of it. Very nice wait staff as well.
wonderful and not rushed. please order one of the desserts. to die for.
By far the worst restaurant we've visited in Halifax. The tiny piece of haddock was so overlooked it wasn't edible. The seafood crepes were awful. The service was non existent.
He never even asked us how the food was and for $380 with tip for 2 appetizers and 4 entrees with inexpensive Pinot Grigio you could do much better almost anywhere
Fantastic evening with our nee friends from Ireland.
Hands down the best restaurant in Halifax. My #1 favourite hangout, date, Friday night, any night place. Service from Scott is amazing, he knows the best wines and has great suggestions on the menu. This wasn't my first time here and won't be the last. I think I'll make reservations again this weekend.
We always enjoy dining at Cafe Chainti. The waiters are top notch and very attentive. The food is always fresh and seasonal. The restaurant accommodates food intolerances, without hesitation. The atmosphere at Cafe Chianti is always friendly and cosy. We love coming to this restaurant for special occasions, and everyday dining.
I was very disappointed with my night out which was my Anniversary dinner. Right from being seated our service was not up to the standard we would expect from such an elegant restaurant. We had dined here before and were both excited to enjoy another beautiful evening. It took 20 minutes before anyone even came out to hand us a wine list or offer any other drink. Our server did not even introduce himself to us or failed to even engross in any kind of conversation with us which we always enjoy doing when dining out. We later found out by another hostess speaking to her table that they had a party of 25 in the back and things were pretty busy and she kept apologizing to them! Not one comment from our host! Food was delicious though....but I'd think twice before going again for a long time...No matter what size table you have going on in the back, the rest of your guests should not feel second best or not taken care of! Our server would quickly come out, drop our food off and disappear!
