I wanted a restaurant that would be good for catching up with an old friend and Cafe il Nido was perfect. We were seated in a corner. Ambiance was classy and chill. Our waiter and other staff were attentive and helpful and gave us all the time we needed to make our food and wine decisions. The food was good and portions appropriate.
I often take guests there fir special occasions. Never disappointed. Franco and Chico are the best.
Second time during Dine Out Vancouver and Il Nido never disappoints, reasonable prices, and excellent service, thank you so much Chico and Christine for your gracious and courteous service.
A disappointment. Service was mixed. One server was charming but replaced by someone who was less than enthusiastic to be serving. Restaurant half full yet we were required to order all three of our courses at once. Interior needs an upgrade. Tablecloths dark and dingy. We felt rushed and found ourselves back outside an hour and fifteen minutes later. Fortunately the food was good.
Excellent food, exceptional service. Franco consistently provides the best Italian cuisine in the city.
A hidden gem in prime downtown location. Never disappointed, great food and nice people around. Recommend for someone who wants authentic Italian tastes in a warm and quiet place. Delicious cocktails btw...
Great food and service. Will be back
Excellent as always, great service and Dine out menu with many options to choose from and the best is that is gluten free .
Had clients in town, came here Tuesday and they insisted we came here again on Thursday. Excellent food and service in a nice, relaxed quiet atmosphere. You have to try the pork chop!!
Fabulous food, great service well priced. Nice peaceful environment, highly recommended.
We celebrated two birthdays the night we went to Il Nido. Our group is constantly seeking the best Italian food in Vancouver and this place did not disappoint. The pappardelle came recommended by Chico, and it was delicious! So were all the meals at our table. Service was pleasant and prompt and I would definitely recommend Il Nido to anyone considering it.
Fantastic dinner as usual, Cafe Il Nido has been open for more than 30 years and despite that they always deliver consistency, quality and overall terrific service, thank you Franco and Christine
The restaurant was quiet - only one other table occupied when we arrived. They wanted to close early so they rushed us through our meal. Not a high end restaurant experience. Salad portion was extremely small for the price. Pasta was good but not amazing
A wonderful little tucked in treasure - amazing food and attentive service. Space could do with some updating but overall a quaint and cozy place. I highly recommend this restaurant !
Food is good quality, authentic Italian however service leaves a lot to be desired. Not sure if it’s a shortage of staff or just a “couldn’t care less” attitude amongst the employees. Slow, scowl in faces negatively impacts the enjoyment of the evening.
The food was excellent. I would highly recommend Café il Nido to for the food. But I have never had such rude service. We received several eye rolls from our waitress at any of the questions we asked. For things like asking for a lemon wedge with hot water. One of the people I was with couldn't decide between 2 dishes, so she asked for a recommendation, the waitress gave another eye roll and would not offer a suggestion. Since we had a table of seven people there was an automatic gratuity of 18% added to the bill, otherwise no tip would have been left. It's very hard for me to say if I would recommend this place overall because of the bad attitude of the waitress. I think I would have to try going there again (but not for awhile) to see if she still is just as rude or hopefully get a different server. But if I do go back and get the same bad attitude I would not return ever and would never recommend this place to anyone.
Great service, excellent wine suggestion, inventive pasta dish. Guest and I had a great time.
It was my mom’s birthday and we went here cuz it’s my favourite Italian restaurant in town! And they treated us a cute tiramisu bday cake at the very end! It was such a surprise💕💕 grateful
We had to go early for dinner as we were attending a symphony orchestra performance. Franco and the waiter could not have been more gracious. The food and service were outstanding.
Our table was the perfect size for a lunchtime chat. The food arrived quickly and was perfect. Particularly good was the squid ink linguine. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. We never felt rushed.
Disappointing. Poor ingredient quality, under seasoning; they are very lucky to still be in business
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Cafe il Nido. It was quiet, the food was excellent, and the service was great. This is a great place for a date or a special occasion.
The location is good, the ambience is also good, particularly the outside patio. The menu is concise but overpriced as is the wine selection.
The service was friendly and courteous. The dessert was a bit of a disappointment because we though it lacked freshness and the hand made touch.
Wonderful meal, all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Close to other tables, but still seemed private.
The blond waitress was very unfriendly and did not make us feel welcome. Won’t be going back there
Franco was very attentive and friendly and provided excellent service. We love the pasta and would love to go back and try the other food on the menu.
We went there for our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised by this little gem. In the middle of busy Robson Street, Il Nido is located in this courtyard that transports you to a country side Italian restaurant. The greenery if the patio gives a very cozy atmosphere. The food was very good and the service was very pleasant. We will definitely go back and recommend it.
Service poor. No smile or welcome. Felt like a cafeteria...just order and eat.
No interaction other than when ordering. Would not recommend or go back.
This was a true hidden gem! Wonderful food. When we are next in Vancouver we will definitely go back
The food and ambience is great, but unfortunately the service has really gone downhill.
What a wonderful hidden gem! Very much a neighborhood feel. Great food. Wonderful service. Felt like Italy!
Great place for lunch!
We had such a great meal at Cafe il Nido - we live around the corner and finally found the time to come by and celebrate my husband's birthday. The staff were super attentive and friendly, and the food was SO good. Will definitely be back :)
A great place for lunch or dinner with an outdoor patio perfect when the sunshine’s.
Was great all the way around. Highly recommend for anyone going to Vancouver.
Lovely secluded spot that is calm and serene. This is no chain and the owners are onsite taking good care of the clients.
Excellent food & service throughout the evening.
5-Stars in all categories!
Nice to meet you!
A hidden gem with a great ambiance. Very good, very imaginative Italian food, pleasantly and efficiently served. Good value to boot, by comparison with other restaurants of this class. One of our very favourites.
In town from Chicago for a meeting. We wanted an quiet, intimate, delicious dinner with friends. Cafe il Nido was wonderful in every regard. Gracious hosts, attentive and thoughtful. Beautiful setting, excellent service, and everything was delicious. They were ready for us, and accommodated our needs. The appetizers: beet salad and soup of the day - butternut squash and sweet potato - were beautiful and tasty, as were the main courses: ossobuco, scallops, ravioli. Dessert: flourless chocolate cake with vanilla gelato, was fabulous. Perfect!
