Poorly managed restaurant. Refused to honour gift certificate “because it was from previous owner”. That shoo it be the customer’s problem
Dear customer. Thank you for your visit and your valuable feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience. The paper based gift card presented was issued 3+ years ago and we had not seen any other customer bringing it in since new management. And according to manager on shift, unfortunately the card was only presented at the end of the meal rather than before, so we do apologize for the confusion. Any further questions you may email us at email@example.com , Thank you again.
A favorite for pasta in downtown. The food consistent as usual and servers are courteous. Will be back again soon.
Carbonara was fav. Great food and excellent service overall.
Thanks, and come try our linguini al nero next time !
Great live music, the food is tremendous. This is like an little Italy hidden in Vancouver.
Thank you ! We look forward to your visit again. Cheers,
Recommended by my friend who came here for her anniversary last month. I was skeptical at first at this little hole in the wall Italian pasta place. But they got a very talented pianist and cello on the weekend. The salted caramel chocolate was so tasty we ordered a second one after initial sharing. Well worth the money.
We had the special Il Nido Linguini and Spinach Ravioli. It was fresh, good portion and plated atrractively. Service was out standing and for a Thursday night was not busy. We are going back for some more pasta next Friday and live JAZZ.
Its was simply fantastic little whole in the wall. Superb service, delicious fold.
Cafe il Nido is our favourite "secret" West End spot to dine. The food, service and ambiance continue to charm. The patio is very European, tucked away amid greenery and buidlngs. The restaurant interior is subdued with a quiet elegance. The staff is pleasant and ready to meet ones requests: I wished for a half order of their specialty spinach and ricotta ravioli and it when it came it was perfect.
On Fridays and Saturdays there is a melodicly pleasant but unintrusive slow Jazz ensemble. This allows for ccnversation during the meal.
All in all, it continues to be a favourite.
The food was not as good as I expected but it was simple and delicious enough and on the lighter side which I liked. I found that the prices were a bit too expensive for the taste and portions of the food. But otherwise, it was an amazing experience. The staff were all so professional and courteous, the ambience was incredible and just what I had in mind,I forgot I was in the city aside from the occasional siren. Beautiful terrace and the live music was a special treat! They played happy Birthday for me and brought out a complimentary tiramisu. I would definitely go back!
great atmosphere , delicious food , super friendly service
Great food and service as always! Our first time there when there was live music and it didn’t disappoint. Everyone enjoyed their meals and was great value.
Great night out - skilled servers, delicious food, wonderful patio. And that squid-ink pasta...oh my, good.
I adore this Romantic little patio, this place is a hidden gem in the City! The gluten free pasta was amazing!
Amazing staff and ambiance paired with a well-prepared menu. Nestled humbly in the middle of downtown Vancouver, it is moderately priced making it a romantic destination for 2 or an intimate location for small group of friends. Highly recommended.
I had the Linguine Al Nero which was tasty and not too heavy. You can really tell that the pasta and the seafood is prepared fresh. My partner had the Lamb on Polenta which was a little on the heavy side but with mild deep stew flavours. I would recommend the Lamb dish to anyone with a huge appetite.
What stood out to me was the Bruschetta. I know, a super simple dish that anybody can easily make. But their Bruschetta is done how I imagine it would've been done in Italy. Fresh tomatoes, drizzled with fine olive oil and balsamic vinegar placed neatly on a bed perfectly toasted bread. Every bite had the perfect crunch of a correctly toasted bread and followed by the freshness of the tomatoes.
The food exceeded our expectations. It was beyond amazing. It came out within great time and the service was amazing! Definitely recommending !
Cafe il Nido is a wonderful little gem in the middle of the city -their outside dining area is almost like a magical grotto. The staff are excellent and provided us with whatever we required whilst also keeping socially distanced and, most important of all, the food is amazing! from appetizers to entrees to desserts, the quality does not falter, it's certainly difficult trying to decide on what to order without trying to order the entire menu! Il Nido is also very reasonably priced (which is a nice added bonus!)
despite tables being available was given the 90 minutes and out which seemed unnecessary. Waiter was intrusive
Great spot. Great food. Will go back Nice mood and surroundings
We really wanted to like this place based on all the good reviews, but sadly can not recommend. The food was far below expectations.
we had dined here a few times over the past 15 years. sadly, due to its low profile we had apparently let this pleasant little cafe slip our minds. we will be back more often to help support them.
Excellent staff, food was delicious, hot and served on time (did not have to wait long for drinks, appetizers and main course) .
Cute little location and live music was great .
Would definitely come again , maybe for lunch or a drink !
First time here and will definitely be back! Excellent Food/Service and a "hidden" gem.
because indoor dining is closed, this was a great find. nice intimate atmosphere and good service and food on their outdoor patio which was out of the wind.
Server was awesome, hostess not so much; the piano was lovely, our spot on the patio was not; wine was tasty and food was not as good as we have come to expect from Il Nido.
Good and service were good. Pasta is must try. We will be there again
We came here for Birthday celebration. Service and food both fantastic.
Stunning patio, excellent Lasagna and carbonara. Glad to be able to dine out and support local small business.
Food was only fair. Not flavourful, nothing special for taste buds. Service and ambiance was good though.
Patio is a bit cold with the draft from the other building
Perfect evening with great food
, service and entertainment
Hands down the best Carbonara and spinach ravioli my husband and I eaten. The portions were perfect and service was 5 stars. An authentic, unpretentious Italian restaurant.
A hidden little gem, with fantastic service and tasty food. With the current no dine in restrictions, Il Nido has a small patio with European style charm.
Socially distanced. Food was good. Loved the live music
Good food and the service was excellent. Will be back.
Amazing food, ambiance and service!
This restaurant is a hidden gem. Off of the courtyard on Robson and Thurlow, Cafe il Nido was a pleasant surprise. Excellent food, phenomenal service and a lovely environment. Having a live piano player was great! Definitely worth checking out.
Live piano music completes the experience.
To be honest I was quite disappointed with the food given the high ratings. It was very flavourless and the quality of the meats was cheap. The prices were high for the food. I've had better at family chain restaurants. The service was great only because we were the only people in the restaurant for the first 30 mins (7:30 pm on a Saturday night) and even after that another two tables were occupied. I also noticed a funky smell in the restaurant and there floor by our table was dirty. Overall I would not go back.
Great service. Nice table on the patio. We could still hear a bit of live music which was great. Good lamb, ravioli, and bolognese.
A cozy, quiet place in a great location at Robson and Thurlow. The food and wine selection was perfect (focusing mainly on Italian choices, of course) and the service attentive but discreet. We liked the option of the outside seating area as well. Despite the cozy size of the location we felt very comfortable with the social distancing protocols during the pandemic. Will definitely be back again.
