Amazing food, amazing service. Spent my birthday there and was very happy.
Excellent place right on Robson. Friendly attentive staff. Comped us dessert when they found out about our anniversary, very lovely and classy touch I think a tad on the high priced side for the portion and quality of ingredients, but within the downtown price range. Great date spot. Would recommend to anyone.
Awesome food and service - friendly staff with authentic Italian food. A wonderful experience.
Friendly relaxed service, delicious food. Would recommend Il Nido for any special occasion or simply for a fine meal.
We were seated immediately, we placed our order for dinner soon after and our meals came out promptly. Our pastas were delicious, nicely presented and piping hot. As we had limited time, we appreciated the excellent service. Despite the fact that I asked for a gluten & dairy free meal, it was very nicely flavored. Certainly a very satisfying experience! Chose to avoid traffic & parking issues as we were able to walk there from our accomodation.
Excellent service, the food were all delicious. We opened two bottles of italian wine, the price seems very fair for downtown. Especially when prices had gone up for everything these days, I don't get why some people here say its expensive. I will be back for sure!
Thank you so much, Amy ! Your feedback is greatly appreciated !! Hope to see you soon, Cheers.
Very cute restaurant with quaint indoor and outdoor seating. However upon walking in the bar area was quite messy. Cleaning supplies, rags, papers and stuff all in view.
Live piano music was lovely, but the player is separated from the dining room which is too bad. I ordered the housemade gnocchi and was really disappointed. Very starchy texture almost to the point of grainy. The sauce was delicious. We started with the Chef's meatballs which were pretty good. My Husband had the Wagyu Beef Shank and was overall happy with his meal.
Thank you. We are glad you guys loved the wagyu beef. As for the gnocchi, it is the made to accommodate Gluten Free needs of some people so the texture is not as smooth as regular flour. Unfortunately we don't have a non-gluten free variant as this time as we already serve 11 pastas in our house. We recommend the rigatoni or Housemade Lasagna next time for a smoother texture and stronger flavor. Thank you again for your comment and hope you can understand. We will try to improve in the future.
What a great Italian restaurant...Il Nido is tucked under an historic apartment building off Robson but the entrance is through the building court yard on 780 Thurlow Street. This restaurant needs to advertise more...it's a hidden gem...and they have a FABULOUS piano player on Friday and Saturday evenings. The wine selection is exquisite and the food...well the food is EXCELLENT-the service more than attentive. We had such a good time and will most certainly go back. Such a change from the restaurants blasting questionable "music" at such a high volume you can't talk. Il Nido is a special place right downtown. Cheers
The restaurant was empty except for us and one other table on a Wednesday night. The food was delicious but on the pricier side for pasta.
Superb! We had a few pastas and the Pink Saint Germain. Then the Wagygu beef and Ossobuco for main. Our experience is great. A worthy Italian diner in Downtown Vancouver, not expensive at all compared to the Boulevard or Cioppino. Love to try the patio again when its not raining.
Thank you, see you again soon !
The pasta is one the best I've had outside of Italy. The Wagyu beef and desserts are exceptional as well. Worth every penny. The waiters are courteous and we will come back to try the steak next time !
Food was ok . I came in with high expectations based on the review on line. Food is not bad but not the best either for their price.
Reserven en la parte interior porque en el exterior huele feo.
Nice little restaurant tucked away just off the street. Loved the live piano music, they had an excellent menu and the food arrived extremely quick. Desserts were excellent and a quick taxi ride back to Hotel.
Beautiful restaurant and fantastic food. Piano music was a nice touch. Restaurant is small and appearance is
Deceiving but it is a gem
Quaint little restaurant reminds me of Italy. Piano player was phenomenal, service was excellent( kudos to Christopher) food was good.
Great food. Great service. Lovely courtyard setting.
Poorly managed restaurant. Refused to honour gift certificate “because it was from previous owner”. That shoo it be the customer’s problem
Dear customer. Thank you for your visit and your valuable feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience. The paper based gift card presented was issued 3+ years ago and we had not seen any other customer bringing it in since new management. And according to manager on shift, unfortunately the card was only presented at the end of the meal rather than before, so we do apologize for the confusion. Any further questions you may email us at email@example.com , Thank you again.
We went there for the live music and noticed how ridiculously expensive all food is. Definitely not worthy- the quality of the food was mediocre , the live music made is bearable to spend a night in this restaurant.
A favorite for pasta in downtown. The food consistent as usual and servers are courteous. Will be back again soon.
Carbonara was fav. Great food and excellent service overall.
Thanks, and come try our linguini al nero next time !
Great live music, the food is tremendous. This is like an little Italy hidden in Vancouver.
Thank you ! We look forward to your visit again. Cheers,
Recommended by my friend who came here for her anniversary last month. I was skeptical at first at this little hole in the wall Italian pasta place. But they got a very talented pianist and cello on the weekend. The salted caramel chocolate was so tasty we ordered a second one after initial sharing. Well worth the money.
We had the special Il Nido Linguini and Spinach Ravioli. It was fresh, good portion and plated atrractively. Service was out standing and for a Thursday night was not busy. We are going back for some more pasta next Friday and live JAZZ.
Its was simply fantastic little whole in the wall. Superb service, delicious fold.
Cafe il Nido is our favourite "secret" West End spot to dine. The food, service and ambiance continue to charm. The patio is very European, tucked away amid greenery and buidlngs. The restaurant interior is subdued with a quiet elegance. The staff is pleasant and ready to meet ones requests: I wished for a half order of their specialty spinach and ricotta ravioli and it when it came it was perfect.
On Fridays and Saturdays there is a melodicly pleasant but unintrusive slow Jazz ensemble. This allows for ccnversation during the meal.
All in all, it continues to be a favourite.
The food was not as good as I expected but it was simple and delicious enough and on the lighter side which I liked. I found that the prices were a bit too expensive for the taste and portions of the food. But otherwise, it was an amazing experience. The staff were all so professional and courteous, the ambience was incredible and just what I had in mind,I forgot I was in the city aside from the occasional siren. Beautiful terrace and the live music was a special treat! They played happy Birthday for me and brought out a complimentary tiramisu. I would definitely go back!
great atmosphere , delicious food , super friendly service
Great food and service as always! Our first time there when there was live music and it didn’t disappoint. Everyone enjoyed their meals and was great value.
Great night out - skilled servers, delicious food, wonderful patio. And that squid-ink pasta...oh my, good.
I adore this Romantic little patio, this place is a hidden gem in the City! The gluten free pasta was amazing!
Amazing staff and ambiance paired with a well-prepared menu. Nestled humbly in the middle of downtown Vancouver, it is moderately priced making it a romantic destination for 2 or an intimate location for small group of friends. Highly recommended.
I had the Linguine Al Nero which was tasty and not too heavy. You can really tell that the pasta and the seafood is prepared fresh. My partner had the Lamb on Polenta which was a little on the heavy side but with mild deep stew flavours. I would recommend the Lamb dish to anyone with a huge appetite.
What stood out to me was the Bruschetta. I know, a super simple dish that anybody can easily make. But their Bruschetta is done how I imagine it would've been done in Italy. Fresh tomatoes, drizzled with fine olive oil and balsamic vinegar placed neatly on a bed perfectly toasted bread. Every bite had the perfect crunch of a correctly toasted bread and followed by the freshness of the tomatoes.
The food exceeded our expectations. It was beyond amazing. It came out within great time and the service was amazing! Definitely recommending !
Cafe il Nido is a wonderful little gem in the middle of the city -their outside dining area is almost like a magical grotto. The staff are excellent and provided us with whatever we required whilst also keeping socially distanced and, most important of all, the food is amazing! from appetizers to entrees to desserts, the quality does not falter, it's certainly difficult trying to decide on what to order without trying to order the entire menu! Il Nido is also very reasonably priced (which is a nice added bonus!)
despite tables being available was given the 90 minutes and out which seemed unnecessary. Waiter was intrusive
Great spot. Great food. Will go back Nice mood and surroundings
We really wanted to like this place based on all the good reviews, but sadly can not recommend. The food was far below expectations.
we had dined here a few times over the past 15 years. sadly, due to its low profile we had apparently let this pleasant little cafe slip our minds. we will be back more often to help support them.
Excellent staff, food was delicious, hot and served on time (did not have to wait long for drinks, appetizers and main course) .
Cute little location and live music was great .
Would definitely come again , maybe for lunch or a drink !
First time here and will definitely be back! Excellent Food/Service and a "hidden" gem.
