We just started going back to Café Lucci after a long period of time. We like to sit in an area that is quieter and they manage to always find us a table towards the back. The food is very good. The bread served as you are seated is good - it is served with both a small serving of a garlic puree and some marinated vegetables. Our waiter was very good and knowledgeable about the food and its preparation. I had the pasta with rapini and sausage - I loved it - it was my second time ordering it. My husband and friend both had the eggplant parm - it was very light (eggplant is not breaded) and it is served with a side of pasta. Our other friend had the sea bass with herbs (a special that night) - he also really enjoyed it. We quite enjoyed ourselves. We will be back.
Very good old school italian restaurant. Very good food, just not in a "new swanky place" if that even matters.
It is a VERY noisy venue, but the food it excellent as is the service
Amazing food. Wonderful service! Went for a birthday celebration. We had a great evening!
Always a treat to dine here. We go often. Food is always excellent!!! Lucky it’s a neighborhood gem!!!
The dining room was a little chilly, but the food and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
We will definitely be back. Food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. We ate there on a Saturday evening and it was really busy. Luckily I made reservations and they do allow them for parties of two. We were seated very quickly. There is a good variety of everyday items on the menu and a bunch of daily specials. Some of their pasta dishes are house made. We started with the baked clams which were really tasty with a nice tomato sauce that there was enough of to dip bread into. Next we had portabella mushroom soup that was incredibly good. Very rich and creamy. For our main courses we had cavatelli contadina and vitello pancetta. Both dishes were fantastic. Veal tenderloins were so tender and good and the pasta tasted very fresh. I'm not much of a dessert lover but my girl is. She had a piece layered banana coconut cake that was big enough for at least two. I took a bite and it was very moist. My girl loved it but could only finish about half. Overall it was a great meal. Service was very friendly but our server looked like he had way too many tables. We had to flag him down a few times but it really wasn't his fault. He was hustling all over the room and maybe someone called in sick and they had to cover extra tables. Parking was difficult and we wound up using valet. There was no charge for it, just tipping after. Our entire evening there cost a little over a $100 which included top shelf drinks. Cafe Lucci can count on us being back.
As ususally food was great although it was quiet cold in restarant
Great as usual
Really nice restaurant. Great food and attentive service. The noise level is low and nice surroundings. Highly recommend Cafe Lucci.
Spectacular every time we’ve been!
We haven’t been Cafe Lucci in a while & forgot how very good the food is! Everything we had was excellent. The veal special was especially tasty. We ate in the bar & the service was great. They were super busy but the service did not falter, efficient yet warm & welcoming. We will be back soon.
Waiter was great. It was noisy but food was very good.
Started going to Cafe Lucci’s in the 90’s and still do. One of my favorite restaurants. My wife, daughter and cousins have held events there as well and will continue to do so.
We always enjoy ourselves. The food is out of this world.
Second recent visit for dinner on a Friday night. Excellent food and service at a reasonable price. We were seated in the main dining room this time. Food served at 7:00. By 7:30, sound level increased to the point that conversation amongst the 4 of us was impossible. Also, very little "elbow room" between tables. We really enjoy the place and will revisit on a weekday or no later than 6 and no earlier than 8 on a weekend.
Celebrating my birthday with husband and parents.
Their food is tasty and the service is pretty good. It is too noisy for romantic dinner but very friendly atmosphere. One of the top restaurants in Northern suburbs.
Always an outstanding dinner, the veal done perfectly and the pasta tasted fantastic.
The food was delicious and our waiter was great.....but I forgot his name.
Always good food here and service. Old school Italian.
For 25years this place has been consistently top quality experience with food, waiters and ambiance.
Have always had wonderful food and service but this time the food came cold and the waitress seemed very nervous. Conrad who is an amazing waiter came and helped out. He was wonderful.
Food was excellent, Service was poor.
Waited 20 minutes after being seated to place initial drink order.
Placed drink order and appetizers, finished drinks and appetizers and then waited 30 minutes for server to return ...... missing silverware, empty water glasses....
it took the edge off of a special Birthday and Valentine day event.
Waitress did not seem as knowledgeable about items as server at a table nearby. Pasta carbonara was disappointing. Restaurant was very noisy and tables very close together. Crowded
It was very quaint for an weekday lunch meal. Our server and the service was wonderful. The meal was also fairly priced. The only dislike was that it was cold in the restaurant, but this did not change our over rating. We would go here again.
Excellent food and sevice with a lively ambience. Huge menu with many pasta choices. The small dining rooms and bar were packed with customers so it was noisy but not unbearably loud. Reservations appear to be necessary due to the popularity of the place. It was worth the long drive from the western suburbs.
Celebrated my wife's birthday. We have been here a couple dozen times over the past 20 years. It's as consistent as any quality restaurant I've been into.
We were a large group and were not seated until everyone arrived(10 -15 min). But once everyone arrived we were rushed out of the bar to get to our table.
We also felt like we were being pushed out at the end of our meal.
We had a reservattion and were seated right away. Our food was very good with many options on their menu and daily specials. Not an inexpensive place to eat but a nice place for a dinner out with friends.
Amazing food! BEST in the northshore!
Always a Great meal! Whether it’s escargot or any of their fish entrees, always delicious!
The hostesses were off putting when we arrived. They wouldn’t seat us until the whole party arrived and then had us wait until they sat other people. When we make a reservation and up waiting in the hallway it is not a great dining experience.
Excellent meal and service as usual
The food is very ok. We ordered Bruschetta which was soggy & the toast was slightly burnt.
The eggplant was under cooked in the pasta dish.
We had a lovely meal at Café Lucci. I hadn't been there in ages and it was even better than I had remembered. The food was excellent - some of the best fried calamari I've ever had, and the veal gorgonzola was tangy and very flavorful. The special Pollo Fontinella was superb as well. Will definitely be coming back:)
The food was terrific especially the cream of mushroom soup! The waiters very, very busy since there was a very large party in the side room. The chef has always fixed me a veal con Fungi in a light cream sauce of some kind which is not on the menu. Our waiter got to us when he could. I was a bit surprised to be charged for the 63 rd anniversay piece of cake that was brought to us with a candle on it.
We had a party of 8 and we were a bit disappointed with our service. Our waiter was obviously in the weeds. We ordered champagne and he disappeared and the champagne never arrived. The food was great the atmosphere was nice - it was just the service that put a damper on our evening. We love Cafe Lucci wed definitely recommend it - we just were unlucky with our service this time around.
Food was very good with pretty attentive staff!
Quite good and staff does a great job. Great Italian food.
