Canoe Restaurant and Bar
Special Dietary needs such as dairy and gluten free, are a fact of life. It is disappointing to see a restaurant like Canoe that claims to do their best in catering to your needs basically strips your dish from everything you can’t eat without any substitutes! My $40 halibut was over cooked and tasteless. The cooked veggie were a mosh and tasteless. The waiter was too busy to check on us after he dropped off the plates so I couldn’t even get a piece of lemon to add some flavour!!
Why is butter the only flavour in the kitchen!!
Great views, food and service could have been better
One of the most consistently fantastic restaurants in Toronto. Service is always on point and the food has bee consistently fantastic since I started eat there 15 years ago
A very nice special evening with great food, service and views
Excellent and attentive service. Thank-you! A perfect evening.
The 2 ladies at reception did not come across as professional/experienced. The could greet their patrons upon arrival and be more friendly/engaging - it was very flat.
Angela thank you for remembering that it was a special night for Katie, the dessert presentation was perfect. Thank you!
Taster menu with pairing
Pretty good experience！
Very good. So much better now!
Food was excellent, though for the price, I would have expected a materially larger portion side on both apps and main. The view was awesome.
We didn’t know what to expect and were perhaps a bit cynical but were blown away. There is a reason Canoe is an institution and it didn’t disappoint. We did the tasting menu. A great journey through the skill and creativity coming out of the kitchen. Our server Adam was a true, cosmopolitan professional who knew his craft and was a great ambassador to the food and the experience. Thanks to all for this surprise.
Took a party of 6 people. Service was very slow. 45 minutes to get a bottle of wine. 30 minutes+ before bread arrived, long wait for the bill. That said, everyone's food was excellent and when you did get a server's attention they tried to make up for the delays. I would go back again but if the service isn't better, that will be the last time
Great atmosphere and great food. Chef has great understanding of selecting ingredients to combine to great taste. Cozy atmosphere and quite quiet, so great for good conversations during dates
We very much enjoyed our dinner at Canoe. The food was fabulous and the service (special mention to Stewart) was superb. It was a special occasion for us and they accommodated our requests. We highly recommend Canoe.
One of the best meals ever and the most amazing views of the city.
For the money, there are many other downtown options that have a better menu. The service was good but 2 of our party had to return their fish dishes. The restaurant handled the situation with class but again, many other options in TO
Service and food was fantastic. Definately worth getting the tasting menu with wine pairing.
One of the best places to eat in Toronto with the best views.
We wanted to try to some high end authentic Canadian cuisine for our special occasion, and were not disappointed with Canoe's Christmas tasting menu ('Comfort and Joy'). The bison rib eye in Bordelaise sauce was particularly good (with some of the best cooked vegetables I have had for a long time), and also the onion soup in an onion was a first for me. The night view from the 54th floor adds to the experience, as do 'the beautiful people' on the other tables, and the bill was reasonable.
Had their tasting menu with wine pairing, one of the best meals we’ve ever had!
Unusual and exotic dishes expertly prepared. Ambience was a bit stark, and our particular seat was disappointing, but perhaps all that was available. On the whole a worthwhile dining experience because of the food adventure.
Overall terrific evening with delicious menu. We went last year and this was not at the same level. The entrance with no Oysters and the the hostess lady very cold attitude. To make up for it, Charlene did an amazing job getting us seating and awesome attitude. Thank Goodness!! Our server was just ok, nothing extraordinary.
Had a very disappointing experience overall on New Year's Eve. Evening started off well with a complementary glass of Prosecco when getting off the elevator, but things went downhill from there. Service was very slow (despite there being empty tables in our section) -- my water glass was empty for half the meal, my cocktail glass was also empty and I was never asked if I wanted another drink (I did), and empty plates stayed on the table for noticeably too long. The food was OK but not anything special. Bathrooms were kind of messy. I realize how nit picky some of these things sound, but when you're paying almost $500 for a meal, this kind of stuff shouldn't happen; I've been to restaurants at a similar price point (or less) and been totally blown away, and that's the way it should be. To top it all off, the view was ruined because it was super foggy (not Canoe's fault). Was a shame because I had been wanting to visit Canoe for quite some time. The upside was that we ended up leaving before midnight, so we were able to beat the crowds home. So that's a win, I guess.
mother nature didn't give the Epic view on New Year's but everything else was OUTSTANDING. Great service, creative Canadian food was incredible. We will see you again for sure! thanks for making it a wonderful New Year's Eve.
It’s a huge disappointment this time. Was there for the New Year’s Eve dinner last year as well. Food, drinks and services were better somehow. It’s a shame that they dropped low this year!
Pedestrian food for a tasting menu , lacked imagination, sweet breads chewy , sauce for the bison main mundane
It was an amazing experience . The night view and delicious food together hold the moment for us. Stephen the charmer served exceptionally well and took well care of us. High recommendation !
The view was incredible! If we come back we’ll request a window table. And don’t even get me started on the food. Possibly the best meal I’ve ever eaten.
On the 54th floor, got to sit by the window and loved the view of the CN Tower. Lovely decor and how the kitchen could be seen from the dining room. Food was good. We had a bottle of wine and started with oysters and tartar. Both appetizers were delicious. I had the Bison Ribeye which was a nice cut and tasty but I thought the meat was barely warm. Besides for that, I enjoyed my dinner at Canoe. Great for special occasions.
Amazing food and service! You really can beat the view as well. I'll definitely be returning soon.
My boyfriend and I had a spectacular time. We were really looking forward to this, and we were completely blown away! Our waiter, Stephen, was absolutely fantastic and charismatic. Don’t even get me started on the food, I don’t believe there are words in the English dictionary that can describe the utter quality of what was on our plates. We knew we were expecting something special, but it wasn’t until we were there that we realized how sensational Canoe verily was.
Food is good.
Service is excellent.
The view is the reason to go.
Amazing view/service/cocktails/ambiance. The food was consistent and good as well.
Gorgeous views and excellent food and service. Portions very small.
We love Canoe and visit every year over Christmas holidays with family! We love it and brought my parents for a special treat! Sadly our waitress was very cold and clearly did not want to be there. She did not crack a smile and service was poor. Had to ask for bread etc. Asked about specials as they were not offered . Asked for hot water w lemon - hot water arrived without lemon. No mention of lemon on the way - so I asked about the lemon and was informed with some attitude that lemon is kept in separate location from hot water. Like it was our fault. Detracts from meal with server like that. Saving grace was friendly support from Flora who was so lovely and helpful - she should be promoted to waitress! We will be back as views and food are beyond compare!!! Thanks!
Outstanding experience all around.
Fabulous food, amazing scenery, impeccable service! Our first time but we will return!
We enjoyed a spectacular (in all respects) dinner at Canoe. We were visiting Toronto from the U.S. and felt lucky to get a reservation. We were not disappointed. The view was outstanding, but the food was even better. Each dish was prepared with care and precision, creating an explosion of interesting but ultimately perfectly integrated tastes. Our favorite dishes were the duck and the mushroom soup---but I don't think you could go wrong with anything. And I forgot to mention that the servers were delightful; attentive and fun without being over bearing. It was the highlight of our trip to Toronto.
I visited this restaurant for my birthday and it was an awesome experience. Night view was breathtaking and food was also amazing. I really appreciate their considerate service as well. Overall, I am really satisfied with having a dinner with my boyfriend there.
For a restaurant with canoe’s reputation I was quite disappointed. We went for lunch just after Christmas.
I sent back the halibut (most expensive meal on the menu) as the fish was dry and flaky. The waiter suggested I didn’t order it again as the replacement as he had already had another sent back for the same reason earlier that day.
The restaurant has great views, a great wine list and great cocktails but certainly needs a reno and new furniture.
Would not recommend at the moment unfortunately.
Food was impeccable and was only matched by the level of service. Our waiter Kevin could not be trumped and knew the answer to all of my questions.
