Critically acclaimed to be among Canada’s best restaurants, Canoe's unique location high atop the TD Bank Tower affords a breathtaking view of the city and Lake Ontario. The design, originally conceptualized by noted designers Yabu Pushelberg and most recently refreshed by Anacleto Design, is clean and simple, yet absolutely stylish - a brilliant reflection of Canada's rich raw environment. That same brilliance is captured through the flavours and textures of Chef John Horne's inspired regional Canadian cuisine. The menu showcases the freshest and finest Canadian fish, game and produce, as well as an outstanding selection of Canadian vintages. "All that is Canadian defines Canoe." We started with cocktails that were delicious! My husband and I opted for the tasting menu. The first course was a corn dog and it was great. Second was smoked trout and it was delicious. Third was a chicken liver pate, which was one of my favourite courses. The main was a choice between flounder and ribeye and we both chose the fish. This course was disappointing. The dish was so salty. Between the capers, fried capers, croquette, it was overpowering. The 3 dessert courses were all delicious. If you choose the tasting menu, go with the ribeye and hope it's a more balanced dish.

The view is unmatched and the service was great, although slow at times.

Best mushroom soup I've ever had! It was beautifully presented and they were roasted to perfection and the broth was bursting with flavour! I tried the sablefish and pork special of the day. Both were quite good but pricey. Loved the presentation on the pork and the various different ways it was prepared all in one dish! The zucchini flowers were a nice touch and added their own zingy flavour to it. The Beet Mille-Feuille dessert with tarragon ice cream was amazing and the perfect amount of crumbly. The flavours were popping and it was a nice touch with the birthday decor and the candle!

Always a "go to" for memorable moments. I was impressed with the line up of Canadian wine and the ability to view the "big picture" with all its landmarks' secrets one can only see from the top! Great work flow and meal service pace, and a wonderful staff: unassuming and sensitive to each table's needs! Grateful for the ability to discreetly "wander" and explore the irresistible view of Toronto from available angles. Bursting flavours and creative forms of food presentation dwelt at the core of this experience!

Very good service, creative menu items. Portions are relatively medium to small size but leave a big impression. More vegetarian options beyond the appetizers would be great. But overall very nice restaurant to celebrate special moments, beautiful view of the lake.

Dinner on June 11, 2018

The bread and dip was very tasty - the dip was made from chickpeas and olive oil. We absolutely loved it. I had the beetroot salad which was only fair. My husband greatly enjoyed his mushroom soup. For my main course I had the smoked duck breast which was exceptional. If I were to ever go back to Canoe it would be to savour that scrumptious duck dish once more. My husband had the halibut which he would highly recommend. For dessert we shared both the rhubarb cheesecake and the tarte au sucre. The cheesecake was delicious but the tarte au sucre was bland and uninteresting. The price for the tarte was taken off our bill without our mentioning anything to anyone, simply because it was noticed we didn't eat or enjoy it. We were pleasantly surprised by that consideration on the part of the maitre d'hotel.
My biggest complaint and the reason we will probably not go back is that the noise level was too high for us. It's more of a bar scene surrounded by dining tables. By the time we left I had a headache. It's not the kind of place you should go if you're looking for a quiet evening of conversation and good dining.

The staff at Canoe were wonderful. The manager, Robyn, ensured our visit was lovely and she was so very friendly. In fact, all of the staff from the front reception, to our waiter, the servers and the charming maitre d', made our meal a relaxed and fun affair!

The décor is fabulous and the view is second-to-none!

Finally, the food! We enjoyed the fois gras, the rib eye steaks, the cheese course and two lovely desserts (chocolate hazelnut and strawberry rhubarb). All were expertly-prepared and of exceptionally high quality and flavour. A top-notch meal.

We would definitely return to, and highly recommend, Canoe.

Culinary creativity and splendid dishes await you at Canoe. Don't let the price point put you off. It is very worth every loonie. My dining companion "raved" about the duck entree. The service was outstanding....don't to forget to request to "Stephen's" section. All of his recommendations were spot on. Enjoy the view. The people watching. The wine...

Most amazing view of lake Ontario, Toronto Island and the downtown area. You feel like you’re eating while suspended in mid air. It is worth it just for the view! Very canadian menu highlighting all our best features, from local fish, game meats, fruits and veggies.

Food is amazing, one of the best in Toronto. I love the desserts at Auberge du Prommier just a tad more ( Personally I think it's best in town, period.)but Canoe is close. Overall a very pleasant dining experience.

My team and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Of the 4 of us, I was the only person who had been there previously. They absolutely loved it. Food was amazing, dessert was over the top amazing. We had a very patient server, who managed the allergy requests at our table in a very professional manner. Hats of to your team.

Although the overall experience was pleasant, great food, great service, great view, what gets me is, why they don’t respect your preference of seating. We requested a table by the window to be told when we arrived that none were available, when actually there were many available but the usual answer was given: they are reserved, which of course all filled up later. My comment is: why not tell you at the time of reservation if it is available or not. I had to assume that if they let me choose the option of selecting a table, that one was available. If the requests are taken on a first-come-first-serve basis, we should have gotten the requested table. This is not necessarily a criticism of that restaurant, as they all do, but rather a criticism about how reservations are taken.
This was a special occasion, our anniversary, hence the special request for a special table.

Decided to take a friend for lunch to celebrate her 70th. I had been years before for Summerlicious. This time it was crowded and noisy. I ordered a salmon/crab app but as a main meal. Very disappointed and the seasonal salad was really disappointing. Some of the lettuce was brown and the dressing was a light mayonnaise. Fortunately, My friend did like her lamb . I wouldn’t return based on that particular meal. With so many amazing restaurants in Toronto, Canoe would not be one I’d recommend.

Vacation dining. Came for the view which could be great. My back faced the ‘view’. ‘Window’ tables for 2 translates to one person looking at the view, which is gorgeous, & the 2nd person’s back facing the view.

The wait staff is great. Very attentive. They care about you having a great experience. We loved them!

Our food was lousy but expensive. Expensive is ok if the experience is ok...our food was cold...ribeye steak means 2 very small chunks of steak, maybe 3 ounces total. I haven’t a clue what the accompanying items were. My wife had lamb...cold. Have you tried cold lamb? Don’t! Did I say the view (for my wife) was great?

Our mistake may have been not telling management that the food was lousy. We figured this restaurant has great views for some of the tourist customers & most patrons come only once...so complaining accomplishes little. So why not eat & enjoy yourself?

WE WILL NEVER RETURN!!!

Spectacular food and vista views. Go around dusk for a nice sunset and see the city lights as you leave. We sat at the chef's rail and had the tasting menus with wine pairing, both of which I'd highly recommend. We tasted some really great wines that I might not have heard of or tried otherwise.

The view is amazing. Food - looks amazing, taste so-so. Food is way overpriced. The portions are small. Would be ok if the food tastes as it looks. We had bad luck with the waiter. Why did I say bad luck? Because other waiters looked friendly, but not our guy. :(

the o+b chain top choice and so disappointing, the seafood platter is extra salty, sauce is very bland for ingredients, no skills nor thought gone into such a high priced dish, having the toughest duck breast for main, almost got cheated for what part of breast the chef is using, also the rabbit is very tough, may be overcooked by reheating a prepared earlier meat. overall a very misleading name, people go there may be all paid for by someone else, and be seen way. if it's the last available, you can't make me went back. I can get very nice view from cn tower 360.
