    The lunch menu was much smaller than before. I would have liked more choices. I had the chopped salad which was just okay. It needed more flavor. Those who ordered sandwiches were very pleased with those.

    For the small number of tables with people the service was very poor. It was a buffet and there were multiple waiters/waitresses, but getting something to drink was a challenge when we first got there and waters were never refilled. The food was fine, nothing special and definitely not worth the price. I would be interested to try eating dinner there some time, but would never go back from brunch.

    Nice wine selection. Salmon and Clam chowder excellent. Crab cake too spicy.... dressing on wedge watery and boring. Great server.

    The food was wonderful, highly recommend the porkchop. Brussel sprouts were mushy, but still tasty. Drinks are a tad pricey. We were literally the only people dining from 530-7. We just thought that was odd

    Food was excellent! We loved the cheese board and I had probably the best salmon of my life. Ambiance is a bit odd, but that's what you can expect from a hotel restaurant. Overall, great service!

    Thank you. We came to Madison to visit dear friends and your remarkable restaurant helped us make new memories. Thank you to the hostesses who went above and beyond to have the roses on the table I had requested. Denarili (sorry for the spelling) was particularly kind, welcoming and helpful. Logan is an extraordinary server and could easily be training waitstaff in 5-star restaurants. He was inventive, responsive and dedicated to excellence throughout our meal. We will return on each trip to Madison and if we lived there it would be a "go to" spot for us. Thank you again.

    Steak was very good, not even close to 6 ozs. I’m on a diet and I weight all of my food every day so I’m a very good judge of weight. Closer to 3.5. Overall good enough to bring us back. Thanks

    Only issue was server. For $12 glass of wine you think they would give you a fresh glass instead of filling from a carafe. One time waiter gave my quest a new drink and grabbed the straw from the old drink and put in the new one. Gross. Seemed liked we were a burden. They are many other options for the price

    Just wasn’t impressed with our food. My wife had the filet Mignon which tasted great. I had the ribeye and thought it was a little overlooked compared to my request of medium rare. We had two sides and they were not very good. Mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts were not good at all in my opinion.

    Always love the service, food, and cocktails...this time I only ordered the Chop Salad...usually its excellent! This time it was weak. You should know. Very little bacon or blue cheese...lots of good lettuce.

    Have ate at Chop House many times. Have always been very pleased. Shrimp Cocktail was not good. My wife had scallops they were just okay. My steak was good so I split it with my wife

    We were excited about having steaks for dinner. The host was great. Very attentative and checked in as we waited for out of town guests whom arrived a few minutes late due to weather. We were seated immediately after they arrived. Our server came to our table right away. She took our order then we barely saw her. Our experience was all kinds of awful. One friend was served a cocktail with a side of someone else's lipstick on the glass. Finally an hour and 20 minutes after being seated and order places we got our food. Another girl brought it out. Still hadn't seen our server more than maybe twice. One friend ordered the rositto. It wasn't cooked fully. My boyfriend's steak was ordered medium rare. There was no red not blood remaining on his plate afterwards. Not to mention it was almost black when served. My friend asked for another drink, and when it was served we asked for the bills. 20 minutes passed as we still hadn't received the bill and had to ask the host where our waitress was. Finally at 945, we were able to leave. Overall, was not expecting this horrible if an experience. Food service was sub-par and service was not exceptional. We will more than likely not return. Not worth the price for the experience.

    Excellent food I wish I could remember her name. She was so gracious she helped waitstaff throughout the restaurant, and was very kind and attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant.

    Waitress was very nice, but atmosphere was disappointing, bleak to non-existent. Starters, french onion and crab cakes were superb. Entrees were mostly poor, trout was tasteless and rubbery, filet mignon was dry and little taste and a bit tough because it was mostly well done for the outer third. Rib eye steak was good, medium rare as requested, but not outstanding. We were there to celebrate our son's graduation with his Master's degree, and the Chop House failed to deliver in so many ways.

    Food was fine and reasonably priced. Had trouble getting them to confirm their Christmas hours. Clearly no table was saved for our reservation but we were seated relatively quickly. Service was very slow and not well timed. Credit card reader wasn’t working. Probably won’t go back willingly.

    I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. The machine that processes credit cards was down at 11:00 am. The hostess never told us this or to the people waiting after we left. She basically acted like all they were taking cash only. Fortunately we had the meal covered, but not the tip. One of the gentlemen in our party ran into the hotel and all their ATM were not accepting charge cards. We looked at the buffet which was basically scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes and pancakes. The menu, but in steam table pans. We chose to order off the menu. I ordered eggs over hard which I did not get. The menu was very run of the mill and nothing special. Christmas Day we expected a little more dazzle. Service was ok, but again very mediocre. We left feeling well that meal is over. Met our breakfast needs, but nothing memorable!

    Dreadful service. Called to confirm and was told our table was ready as soon as we arrived we would be seated. Got there right on time. And was told our table wasn’t ready. Went to the bar and overheard the same man tell the couple next to us they had found them a table. 30 minutes later we were seated in a back room with large parties. Took forever between courses. Food was overdone and we had to send it back. Overheard another table who complained get their entire meal removed and all they paid for was wine. Our dishes weren’t cleared between courses. We asked another waiter to find our waiter and he didn’t clear the dishes even though he went right into the kitchen. It was 30 minutes before we saw our waiter again and the manager walked by and ignored us and the dishes. Reservations for 6:30. We left at 9:30!! Three course meal and desert. We will never go back even though the food was good.

    Our server was clearly annoyed to have us in her section. She was WAY nicer to her other table (large party). She didn’t greet us, tell us about the specials, or bring us our food. Everything was brought to us by the woman who set the table and filled waters (I believe her name was Dee, she was the best part of our experience). Our food was wrong and cold. It sucks because it seemed like everyone else had a different experience, wish we had that. Oh well. Don’t know if you don’t try, right?

    Went here with friends after a matinee at the Overture. Was fairly quiet with only 4 tables being seated when we were there. One of our favorite places to go as the steaks are consistently good and the service is efficient and unobtrusive. Valet parking is helpful as street parking can be challenging. Much better quality than the typical hotel restaurant.

    A lot of Madison locals likely eschew Capitol Chophouse due to its location. The Chophouse is located in the Hilton, and there is a stigma associated with being a connected restaurant to a hotel. This establishment offers locally-sourced food, high quality alcohol offerings, and a talented kitchen, all with very reasonable prices. The quality of food here far exceeds that of the local chain steakhouses like Flemings or Ruth's Chris, and the light level is low enough to be comfortable without having the traditional "it's hard to read the menu from a distance" lightning that you get at a majority of fancy steakhouses. The portions are just right, rather than being too little or, worse, the traditional American excess that leaves one feeling overindulged later. Topping all of this is an excellent service staff who are professional and friendly, able to tailor your experience based on their perception of your comfort level with interaction and conversation.

    I'm sorry to say that the restaurant ambiance price point did not lead to the meal experience I was expecting. I'll begin with positives. The service was lovely. From host to server to support staff, everyone was courteous, well-mannered, and seemed genuinely invested in the diners having a good experience. Sadly, the meal was not up to the same standards. The prime rib was significantly overcooked and when I requested another order, this one still came back overcooked. The sides were in shareable portions, but the flavor was average and they were over-salted.

    Excellent choice. Steaks were delicious, shrimp cocktail appetizers were superb, and side dishes were outstanding. Service was also exceptional! A great choice for a special occasion meal. Yes, it's attached to the Hilton, but don't let that dissuade you at all. This is not a "hotel food" restaurant. It's terrific!

    On the evening of our dinner at the Chophouse, we were seated in the center of the dinning room. We were assured several times by the water/bus staff that our server would be with us shortly. After waiting 30 minutes, the dining room host became our server. She was very attentive and kind, and we made sure to tip her well. However, she was not a trained server and also had to manage her duties as the host. I realize it was a busy night, however, there were still empty tables and other tables waiting. Instead, the servers focused on the large 20-person party in the private room. I really like your restaurant but this was a pretty poor experience. Food and drinks were great but we definitely felt like second class guests. Major compliments to the water/bus staff as well as the hostess who made the best of the situation they were given.

    My husband and I have celebrated our anniversary dinner at Capitol Chophouse each year. We have found the food excellent each time we have dined there. The ambience is perfect for a celebratory dinner. This will be our continued go to restaurant for our anniversary each year. Wait staff is excellent also. Overall, it is a five-star experience!
