Carino Riserva
This dinner was amazing it was my friends first time to try and he enjoyed it alot. I took pictures of all my foods and I had so many people ask where I went. I'm sure there's gonna be at least 10 people coming there way. The food was so good and hot good flavours. I would recommend this place over and over again. Everything on the menu is worth trying.
Very nice, unique little restaurant. Portion sizes a little on the small side and could have been more seafood in my dish, but very nice flavours.
This restaurant is best on week days. We have been here a few times on the weekend and with only one server it becomes overwhelmed and mistakes happen.
Excellent as usual. Food was inventive and well executed. Service was good even as it got busy later.
This is a regular place for me and never fails to deliver
Amazing food, creative yet simple, really good quality and good quantities too.
Nice and perfect service, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy a great cuisine - fusion between italian and japanese food !
I recommend a try for this restaurant. It’s likely you won’t be disappointed. It’s Italian with Japanese flavour. I enjoyed the meal and would go back, but I also went with a good friend so that was a highlight too. Of the two appetizers, gyonzaga (?) and Agedashi Mozzarella, I preferred the mozzarella. Expect to pay $50 pp without drinks.
Definitely our favourite restaurant in Calgary, never fails to impress. Service is amazing too, we had to wait a few minutes (we were a bit early) and we were treated to some nice sparkling wine while we waited. They really appreciate their customers.
Exceptional service and food was great
Four of us all had something different. All the dishes were excellent. One ordered Duck Duck and said it was the best he's ever eaten. Wines were a bit expensive but selection was decent.
Very unique dining experience. Highly recommend the lamb
Another fabulous meal, everything was excellent once again, thank you so much!!!!!
great meal as always... tasty and beautifully presented!
Really goood foood, service was fast and nice small place
Great food, slow service but worth the wait. I will go back and would highly recommend.
Food was very good. Different twist to Italian. Or Japanese, depending on perspective. Excellent service. Food came hot, which is how good food is to be presented.
Nice inventive menu with unique flavour combos in a cozy room. Friendly service.
The service was fantastic with great attention to detail. The food was delicious with a great selection of different cuisines.
Really love the food, waitress is great but if she could smile would add the last star to the service. I will definitely visit it again.
This is a Chinese food restaurant masquerading as a Italian fusion restaurant
The food was good. the one appetizer was still cool in middle. The online menu was very out of date and did not match their current menu
Carina is always terrific.
Love the fusion Japanese/Italian food.
Always so creative and delish.
The waitress had a minor screw up with one of our meals but eventually it arrived.
I have been a fan of the first Carino on Edmonton Trail, and like many fans were very disappointed to bid farewell to such a fine establishment.
First confession: I carried the expectation from Carino to Carino Riserva, on this inaugural visit.
Second confession: I am aware Carino Riserva does Japanese with an Italian twist (still reminiscing the Italian with a Japanese twist of Carino).
Setting: Table of 2
Ordered: Ahi Tuna Tartare, Spicy Duck Nanban, and Rack of Lamb.
How we felt: For starters, the tuna tartare was a very comforting initiation. It was what I had expected from the creator of the first Carino. However, I somewhat disagreed with the thickness of the accompaniment tortilla chips, which required a wee bit too much bite effort.
For mains:
The Spicy Duck Nanban w/ Japanese Pasta (well it's udon). It was overall a nice "gathering" of duck confit, soy-dashi broth, mushrooms, sweet peas, and noodles in a bowl. All these ingredients appeared so meaningful on the menu, but was brought together as individuals and remained individuals in a noodle soup.
Rack of Lamb: This was the biggest disappointment. Lamb chops itself were done alright. But to serve them on a Edo Japan-style (yes, I mean the fast-food chain) stir-fried cabbage, bean sprouts and peppers with Mongolian BBQ Sauce (Genghis Khan?) and avocado sushi roll. My sushi rolls soaked up the watery BBQ sauce. It was a story so confusing, assembled so awkwardly to the point I felt annoyed that I could not understand this dish at all. And, more frustrating was that it was a $30 dish of lamb chops on chop suey.
It was an anticipated night out, and we chose Carino Riserva because we miss Carino. We truly appreciated the passion, commitment to details and dining experience we had at Carino. Back then, every ingredient was meaningful, every plated item had a role. After an appetizer, and 2 main courses, and $70 short - we left still hungry for the magic of fusion cuisine that Carino once perfected.
Food was just ok at best and customer service was horrible.
A really unique, cozy, restaurant. The menu looked gimmicky at first glance, but is executed beautifully. It might not be what some people would call ‘authentic’ but it was a great meal, and I can’t wait to go back.
Amazing food and service. The best will find in Calgary
Food took too long, food was nothing special and price was high for the quality. Menu did not have more than one vegetarian options.
Came here for our anniversary dinner on Friday night. Had the tasting menu and although every course was good my favourite was the sphagetti w wagu and fish tacos. Each course was good size and left very full.
Next time we go will definitely check out items from menu as a lot of them sounded pretty interesting. But as our first time there decided to try tasting menu
Only minor negative -it was pretty crowded and tables are close together. Noise level was fairly loud but not so bad we couldn't hear each other. Will definitely return to check out other dishes.
Anniversary
The food was delicious. They really need more than one server. All the customers in the restaurant waited at every step of the dinner from arriving and waiting to be seated until waiting to pay the bill.
We live in the neighbourhood but had not been here in the 4 years since it’s been open. This is fusion at its creative best - a full range of flavours. Full of appreciative customers with latecomers having to be turned away.
Great tasting food, very reasonable priced, big portions, and great service.
Lovely and super exceptional as always! Tonight we were able to also secure us some creme brûlée for dessert which was fantastic! Fave place ever!
Excellent Italian/Japanese fusion food- specials always good and interesting, price good for the excellent quality
Inventive creative fusion menu matched with great wine and hospitality. I could dine here weekly!
Excellent meal. Server was very good given she was so busy. It was a very hot evening and no AC evident so temperature in room was regrettably uncomfortable .
None the less, I will definitely go there again
WOW.....we’re big on tapas and small plate dining and have hit pretty well all of them in the city. This place was a pleasant surprise and definitely the best value we’ve come across for dining. Food was excellent. Live music was a nice touch. Great service. Will definitely be back soon.
Quaint restaurant with AAAAMAZINGGG food. The chef was able to adjust our meals to meet our diet restrictions. Will definitely come back!
Good overall
I must say this place was amazing . The food was just to die for and the staff were all friendly and so warm . It makes a lovely change to have amazing food that’s not like the other chain restaurants around ! I would highly recommend dining here!
Amazing food! Top quality prepared by the owner and his team. Food is always consistent and the service is good. Will continue to return again and again!
