Catch 122 Cafe & Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Food was good for the value. Service was kinda slow when we wanted to pay our bills.
Great food excellent service will go back again
We had 8 of us before the theatre. They took good care of us and made sure we got what we needed. The food was delicious, tapas style small plates mostly, and a great mix of flavours.
The charming atmosphere complimented the delicious food wonderfully. I was warned that it can get busy and hence went at 9am, resulting in a calm, moderately quiet place to eat. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here and can recommend the pudding french toast.
I would not recommend this place for a lunch break. Even though I had made a reservation, it took us 10 minutes to get our order taken down, and the food itself took nearly 30 minutes, which the server told us was normal. When the food did finally come, the portion sizes were so minuscule that I left very hungry afterwards. I will not be joining them for lunch again.
Lively inside. They've recently changed the menu, so what I hoped for from the online menu was no longer available. Gluten free options were limited, as were tapas, which are still "under renovation". I'd love to see the new menu online...
Very good and original meals. Was expecting to see bigger portions considering the price (reasonable for a good dinner) but the portions are like entrées. The rest is quite great.
I’m not a fan of their new menu - they’ve made their portions smaller making you choose salad or hash; I got hash but the potatoes were really dry and their poached eggs aren’t runny. I’m usually a huge fan of this place but today I was quite disappointed with the food.
I had never been to Catch 122 before, was pleasantly surprised when I dined there on a Saturday evening with the from out of town. The food was great, the smaller plates were good for sharing. I would love to return and try some of the full entree options.
Before booking the reservation for this restaurant, I checked on their website and they had happy hour specials for both food and drink. When I arrived and asked for the happy hour menu, I was informed that the happy hour menu on their website was no longer valid. I heard amazing things about the fried chicken so both my guest and myself ordered it. In total we ordered two fried chicken dishes and cocktails. One dish arrived and the other arrived 15 mins later. It was confusing as there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. The server did apologize but I would rather wait and have both dishes come out at the same time.
The fried chicken dish was $11 and it looked to be either one or one and a half boneless chicken thigh(s) cut up. On their website, the dish looks like it is two pieces of a chicken boneless thigh. For me, the value was not there and this was a very disappointing meal.
Everything was great! I came here to straight after a work meeting and came right before they closed for their afternoon break. The service was great - even though I had to order within 5 minutes and was requested to pay upfront, they were very generous by giving me free coffee with my meal. The salmon eggs Benedict was delicious and they didn’t rush me out of the restaurant even though they were closed. Since this place is right beside my new job and the price isn’t too expensive, I will definitely be returning in the future.
Generally we like the food and it's nearby the office, but this last experience was disappointing. The restaurant was either short-staffed or those serving were having a bad day. It was a weekday lunch hour. It took 40+ minutes to get our food, which came cold. One member of our group didn't get served until well after the other 5 of us. The restaurant usually has great potatoe sides with brunch, but portions were scant this time -- not many potatoes and a lot of fried crumbs. All in all, not a good experience, especially since we were celebrating a colleague's birthday (the one who got served last!).
I've walked and driven by Catch 122 and never felt the urge to go in. I'm glad a I did this time because the food was delicious and service fantastic. Some dishes were a bit on the salty side, but overall good.
Food took a very long time to come
I've been here a few times for lunch/brunch and now once for dinner. 10/10 for food and service. Loved the duck dish - perfectly cooked and the vegetable pairings were delicious. The type of dish that sticks in your memory and makes you want to come back soon to get it again! Try a flight of 3 wines to pair with share plates for the table.
The food is delish
Menu interesting but not too wierd
The staff friendly
The room industrial farmhouse cozy bisto
Service slow , needs to do better
waited an hour for some burnt octopus. don't have much else to say
This is a great little restaurant. The only reason i didn't give it five stars is the lack of a wine selection. A few on tap but nothing worthy of the meal we had. Best Bread I've had in a long time. The menu is not long but it packs a punch. You could treat it like a traditional menu, like we did and start with greens (and bread) and order a large dish each or you could treat it like a tapas. it's a great place with a great menu, you probably need to be 25% adventurous eater for this menu. It's kind of funky, kind of hip, the music was noticeable and fun but never interfered with our conversation. The food was cooked perfectly, with a lot of flavors going on. I would definitely recommend.
Took forever for food at lunch and came out 10min apart :(
Their unique cocktails in the evening are top notch. It is a great place for a post-dinner get together for special occasions. Food portions are disappointing; however they were presentable and tasty. I was expecting a little richer menu, but they have fair amount of mains and finger foods.
I just love this restaurant the food is very good and the service is great. The only downside is the long wait times not very convenient if you have little time to eat...
We had never eaten at Catch 122 before so this was a great find for us. It was easy to reserve a table for our large group of 11. We arrived at Happy Hour and so tried everything on the menu. Everyone agreed the food was tasty - good variety. Even though there was only a few choices for entrees, everyone was happy with what they ordered. The service was excellent - friendly. Our server made quality checks and was attentive and prompt. We would recommend this restaurant as a place to go as a pre-game spot. It's a short walk to the sport venue and we didn't have to fight crowds of people.
Awesome cocktails and chicken to die for. Great happy hour, staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Will be going back again soon.
All courses were very tasty, everyone was very friendly. We had a great time - thanks!
Loved the food the beers and the service! I was however a bit disappointed that the server did not announce in a clear and understanding manner that an 18% gratuity had already been added.
Three of us double tipped (36% total tip)- it was only when one of my guests who is also a server noticed and asked for our extra tip back.
Not a big deal but with a large group better communication would be helpful.
Would still reccomend.
Met a new friend there for lunch and we were both really pleased with the service, food and ambience. I will definitely go back there again! They were even especially careful about an allergy that I had mentioned when I made the reservation.
Been coming here since a friend hosted a small New Years' gathering brunch couple years ago. Go to place for weekday brunch- once had to wait 90 mins on a Saturday, and they don't take reservations on weekends so that's a bummer- as well as nice lunch and dinners. Service can be a bit slow, my friend and I tried three or four times to ask our guy for the bill, resorted to walking up to him for it in the end. Otherwise, love this place!
Tremendous service, fantastic staff who were professional and courteous. The menu was easy to understand, and the waitress was very attentive. 10/10!
Good food, excellent service, at a very convenient location with easy access to Gastown, SFU theatres and downtown Vancouver.
My favourite brunch place! Always consistently great
This place was awesome! The food was excellent and the service was top notch. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Really enjoyed Catch 122. Shared a number of the dinner items with a large group of people and it worked out really well. Very accommodating staff.
I reserved this place to catch up with some friends. We decided to only stay for wine and appetizers, which was very good. The service was also prompt and friendly. Cozy casual.
It was delicious and I cant wait to return. Thank you!!
The Marinated Beets and the Fried Chicken were very good.
Not necessary to go there. The food was not very good. Wine was ok
The bourbon Bellini was delish
Weekday brunch👐🏻 everything is good. Food, services, location. For me the place was a little bit too dark, or possible it was a raining day?? Will definitely come back ;)
The service was a bit inconsistent as they forgot about us a couple of times. For example, after being seated, our waiter saw we had no drink menus so he immediately got us 2 drink menus. He did not come back for 15 minutes so we ordered 3 plates and our drinks. All the plates arrived before our drinks. There was similar confusion surrounding desert.
Food was good. The fried chicken was the best of the items that we tried.
They Could have more vegetarian options. What they had was great and used lovely ingredients.
