Catch Kitchen & Bar Ratings and Reviews
The service was average considering it was not busy the waitress was not attentive The food came out luke warm and it was over cooked.
We met old friends from out of town for brunch on New Year's Day and were very pleased with the food and the location. Great views from many of the tables, the food was good, although not spectacular, but fairly priced, and the coffee kept coming. For visiting, it has a great atmosphere: casual and comfortable.
Your setting was relaxed and our waitress was very attentive and nice. The spinach dip appetizer was so-so. Cabonara spaghetti was not as good as in a prior visit ... two of us were sharing it, it did not come out piping hot like before, and the portion looked smaller than before ... we wondered if this was because the restaurant did not like us 'sharing'. One of us had the burger with fixings, which was very good and the best dish.
Great Food and Service. This was the first time that we had come to this restaurant. Our party enjoyed the lunch.
We had a great evening and the food was enjoyed by all, portions were quite large. The waiter was very informative and efficient. A couple of people in our group had been there before and they have enjoyed it each time. Cookie desert was awesome and great for sharing! Our group of 8 ranged in age from 13-83 and even tho there was a large group for a Christmas Party, we were able to have conversations just like we would at home. I would recommend Catch for any size group. I know the views are great in the daytime and all tables had good views.
The service was excellent and the food was very tasty. The halibut was moist and tasted fresh. Having BC wine is always a good find especially when your guest are from a landlocked part of the country. Sadly, it is latefall inSteveston so the restaurant was empty except for one other table. It is time to get out and support the local independent places!
Food was really good as usual but my Halibut was ruined with salt
Great honest service, very good food, halibut entree was excellent. Fantastic view of the fisherman's wharf set against a sunset backdrop over the pacific.
Not a good experience and I wouldn't go again, entirely on account of the food.(Our first tipoff was that the place was pretty empy when we arrived.) The server was great; not so the lunch. One person ordered the seafood salad, which had far too much dressing. The other two ordered fish and chips, which was basically a plate of fries with a tablespoon of cole slaw and a very tiny piece of fish. We complained and were given 15-per-cent off the bill.
Enjoyed it. Quiet for lunch but food menu was broad and well prepared and fresh. Alcohol options need upgrading but typical for Richmond, Steveston. Will look forward to going again.
This may be one of my new favourite spots. Ambiance is great as is the view. Food is very good and friendly service. Prices are very reasonable. Great spot.
The food was amaxing to say the least. Our server was so attentive and made an amazing Ceaser. You definitely get what you pay for
We have been twice now to Catch. The service is quite good and accommodating. However, the lighting is very odd and it is too bright in some areas and not bright enough in others (this was in the dining room not bar area). The use of space is odd as well. There is a huge amount of empty floor space in front of the bar that could be a better business generator. The food is dependable, have had a great corn/crab chowder and linguini and clams so far. The calamari could do with less batter, a bit dry. We had a good meal and a good time though.
The four of us all had seafood dishes and all 4 were different and spectacular. Good value for the prices. Our friends were from Vancouver and had never been there before. They said they would go back. We come in from Tsawwassen. Great ambiance and very downtown ish.
Very slow service, food was cold and inconsistent.
Amazing view, good food, very good service. If you are looking for a great spot to look out over the fishing boat harbour, this is it. The food is much better than the places along the dock and the view is better as well. Friendly professional staff.
Overall dining experience was fantastic. My menu recommendation - Edamame were exceptional !
This was the third time eating at Catch Kitchen & Bar and each time has been very enjoyable. Great service and food at a reasonable price.
Disappointed from a Steveston Sea food restaurant. Ordered the Crab chowder soup, scallop and bacon appetizer and halibut and pork chop for main.
The main course came first ! Followed by the soup and scallop/bacon !
Halibut with rice was really dry and overcooked, pork chop was mediocre. Only the snow crab chowder soup was up to standard in taste. Scallop/bacon was dry and hard.
The server came to take our order, appeared with the main course, followed with the rest of the food, thereafter never to be seen. Never came to check about the food or refill of water. She appeared again when she saw that my main and soup were emptied, then hurriedly cleared the table while I was still chewing the last scallop/bacon ! Oh she suddenly realized and said " you have finished ?" Then disappeared again, I waved when I saw her sitting at the bar table cleaning glasses, intended to ask for the dessert menu. She came with the bill, frustrated decided not to have dessert and paid. The dear waitress asked" how much change do you want back ? " and later she said she had no small change ! What a strange restaurant !!!
It was fine. Quiet. Nice view.
The Catch Kitchen has become a local favourite. This casual restaurant is a great venue for couples and groups alike. The food and service is consistently good. There is an outdoor deck and lots of window seating. Great spot.
The food was just OK. The Calamari and Spinach Dip appetizers were the best of all the menu items our table had. The fish tacos were bland, boring, and not appealing We made a reso and I indicated there would be 3 kids at our table and we were there celebrating 2 birthdays, despite this, our table was preset with 6 wine glasses which we then had to quickly move out of the way. The kids were offered no colouring items or kids menus, so I just assumed they did not have these available. Not a problem, some reataurants don't have it. Then we saw other tables with children being provided with these items after being well into our meal. The service was slow and lacking in my opinion. It was overall just an OK experience.
We had been to Catch when it first opened and this was a much improved experience. We were lucky to get outside seating on a beautiful night although the tables by the window would be okay as well. I would have been disappointed if we had had to stay inside away from the view however.
Our server, who happened to be a celiac as is my husband, was very helpful and a delight. Our selection of a Burrowing Owl white, salmon for us and the halibut for our friends was enjoyed all round.
Altogether we had a great evening.
Pleasant staff, delicious food & didn't feel rushed!
Had a wonderful evening celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary, the staff made us feel so welcome and special. Service was excellent and it was worth the wait at the bar, having too many gin martinis, for a table outside with a view of the boats. Food was fabulous too.
Food was good. Restaurant has patio and view of Steveston waterfront. On the negative side, one water glass and a fork were dirty. Quite pricey for lunch/brunch. No actual lunch/brunch menu either.
We have been to Catch a number of times and always enjoy it. But this meal was even better than others. We each ordered the entrée special which was a generous portion of grilled sockeye salmon served atop the most delicious salad featuring fresh figs and goat cheese. Together with a nice cold bottle of BC wine and an appy of Mediterranean flatbread it was the perfect summer evening meal. And as always service was excellent.
This time we went for brunch and they did not disappoint. The mimosa's had the right balance of juice and bubblies and the salmon bennie was outstanding.
the mussels were fantastic and the slow-cooked baby back ribs outstanding - best we ever had.
Our friend ordered the thai bowl but it was soggy and he did not enjoy it very much.
The service was excellent and so was the food! And the happy hour mojitos!
We were put in the most inner corner table that came with "flies"....and not able to change to another one. Bayview? Not for us.
We thank you for the positive lunch experience at Catch Kitchen and Bar. The menu items are excellent and food is delicious. We also like the ambiance and the view!
Staff was friendly but we were disappointed with the food quality. The salmon was a bit soggy with a crust and my fish tacos felt 'not fresh'. The fish inside had a fried coating that wasn't crispy. The soup of the day was good though. Overall, there were 8 of us and we wouldn't go back. Too bad. Great view and location.
Good food - service was a little slow, but we were there pretty early
Great Happy Hour!!! -- menu and pricing, for food & bev's , not to mention the view of the River / moored ships.
First time to the restaurant and wasn't really impressed; otherwise, service was great BUT the halibut I ordered was too dried and hard as well as, the mussels were so small and a bit salty. BUT the snow crab corn chowder was delicious.
The food was good, but the service was terrible. Food took over an hour to get to our table .
A beautiful view of the Steveston waterfront contributes to the dining experience. Service is very good, although some of the wait staff looked uncomfortable in their skin tight super mini dresses - we're not there to look at flesh! The menu is varied and the food excellent. We enjoyed fresh seafood - especially the warm seafood salad. Not a large choice of wine but some decent BC wines at reasonable prices. In all, a lovely evening -- but let the poor kids wear proper clothing.
The service was good. The wine list was very limited. My meal was the halibut, which had been previously frozen. The entire meal lacked any flavour and although it was suppose to come with a sauce that was missing. The meal was very disappointing. The three other people at my table enjoyed their meals. Overall, there was nothing to write home about other than the view, which was nice.
