Arrive half an hour early, still got the seats. Great service, worth the price.
Very good food. Very tasty deserts.
39th Wedding Anniversary
The survice was absolutely great, it is just a bit over priced. Would recommend the duck for special occasions only.
Chang’an is my family’s favourite restaurant for having pecking duck. Service and food quality always keep high level. We will definitely go more often.
Best Peking Duck in Vancouver. The skin is crispy and juicy, and meat are very tender. Also recommend to order their mushroom tofu and crispy veal and Chang an mixed veggies!!
Always good food and service
Very pricey food, which I was aware of, however the flavor and the display is pretty much the same as a normal Chinese restaurant, non of the dishes I ordered impressed me. I can spend 1/3 of the price to get the same quality food. Do not recommend and won’t come back again.
You can choose two makes of duck. If you choose the duck soup, they only serve you a tofu bean soup which is made ahead. You can't find any parts of your duck even a piece of meat in this soup.
Need to improve on cocktail (we ordered old fashion and whit russian).
Peking duck while taste awesome but is quiet expensive as the soup was a small bowl for each person. Other comparable pace that charge similar amount gives a bit pit of duck soup.
Overall I still recommend this place as the food taste really good.
We ordered Peking duck for that night. It was not fresh and the meat was dry, skin wasn’t crispy. The service wasn’t good at all, staff wasn’t friendly. Waste time and money. I would rather go to Mott 32 for this price.
The service was very attentive but it felt like the waiter marked us for Gringos and, by urging the "most popular" dishes, steered us to a very boring meal that was a mockery of our whole reason for being in Vancouver - to taste exciting and authentic Chinese food. To make up for it, the next night we took a taxi all the way to Richmond and had a fantastic, fun meal for half the price, including the taxi ride.
Over priced place. Food taste average, for the price and the portion, I felt not worth. Presentation was nice tho. Overall it's a nice restaurant, basically u pay for the view and the experience.
The sweet and sour was too sweet. The person who explained the food was different than who took the order so it was terrible because eventhough we asked for not spicy food we got the worse! Not recomeneded at all. The view was nice but you shouldn’t recommed this place at all. Very dissapointed🤣🤣🤣
Peking Duck was amazing! Fried sweet & sour eggplant was terrific...whole eggplant, fried...than sliced and covered with sweet/sour sauce....WOW. Service was the best.
Food was mediocre but service was good. Roast duck was not hot enough.
Rico lugar de comida típica china, el pollo es espectacular
Food was great! Especially the Peking duck, we loved it!
They charge $28 for a pod of tea, which is ridiculous.
The portion is quite big and we ended up ordering way too much for 2 people, wish the waitress had given us some headsup.
Love the tofu and duck breast! Ambience & view were amazing. Food was great.
Excellent food and services
The tea was $28 - crazy
Wonderful Roasted Duck! Pleasantly surprised by the tasty duck soup that is an option for the second course. And the Imperial Hot n' Sour Soup was delicious.
A very unpleasant experience although food was fairly good! Our booking was for the 1st seating (5:30 to 7:30). Before and during the meal, we were reminded multiple times that we were only given two hours to eat. While for a party of eight, including family and friends coming all the way from Coquitlam for a special occasion, and a table full of dishes, and a variety of drinks and wine, it just seemed too rushed. I would not recommend Chang'an for any special occasions or celebrations.
Waiting too long for dishes
The food is very pricy . Some food itself is not really authentic. It wold be great if they can provide more choices with a reasonable price.
This is my second visit. Service was excellent provided by JUNE. Food was good but we ordered too much soup. Will adjust ordering the dishes next time.
Overall it was a good experience. The food is decent but I was not fully satisfied. I think the food can be better if the price is this high.
It was voted the best duck restaurant in Vancouver however the duck only tasted mediocre as it came out luke warm and lacking flavour. I've definitely had better ducks in another restaurant. Service was poor. My friend was allergic to spice so we pick the only thing on the menu that didn't list chili on it and it ended up with a dish covered in chili. When we confronted the server, he just looked at my friend weird and said sorry but didn't do any service recovery. I'm not allergic to spicy good but I wouldn't treat other people's allergies lightly. Definitely won't come back
1. does not allow order two ducks even we have 12 people, why? do you think there is enough of duck to go around for 12 people? use your common sense
2. last two guests arrived and stood there for more than 10 mins and the waitress can't set up table and chairs
3. Manager insult the host in front of guest
4. Rude attitude
5. does not speak proper English
Very good authentic Chinese menu. Good mix of foods, and something for everyone.
We went for the duck, it was very good.
LONG TIME VISITOR TO VANCOUVER AND OWN CONDO ON WATER FRONT. HEARD ABOUT THIS PALCE FROM CHINESE FRIENDS. GOT LOST FINDING A PLACE THAT WAS A 15 MINUTE WALK BUT THE SERVICE AND STAFF EXTRAORDIARY. MY FRIEND WAS AWED BY THE DRY RIBS LIKE NOTHING HE HAD EVER HAD. DEFINITELY A PLACE TO RETURN TO AND OFTEN
Good food but too noisy
The Peking experience lacked taste. The 2nd course for the duck was missing the duck meat and replaced by tofu. The soup took very long to be served and it was served at the near the end of the meal
Great food, high prices, bureaucratic and chaotic communication, cold near the window, and .... just one song was played continuously during our stay. 17 times!
Over priced. Over rated. Under done. Pretentious. We booked a table for 4 for dinner and still waited 20minites whilst what looked like “their Chinese buddies” got seated first. We ordered quite a lot of dishes. The tofu vegetable broth was very good, as were the pork riblets. Other dishes were just average considering the price and pompous descriptions. Talk about setting a false expectation. $28 for Chinese tea is perhaps a bit too much. The saving grace were the wait staff who were very attentive.
Went there for a birthday celebration. Got a couple calls from restaurant for confirmation from a pleasant lady. The duck was being served shortly after we were seated and was delicious. They were happy to take photos for our table and even gave us a happy birthday card with a print out of a the photo (guessing they must have a photo printer in the back). Excellent experience overall.
Fantastic dinner with excellent service in a scenic waterfront location
