Ramen, cocktail, gyoza, and chicken were amazing as usual. One of the few places where they make your cocktail neat so you don’t have to drink it too fast. I swear they must have given me a double because it was huge. Only ding was on slow service. Our server was friendly and got orders right, but it appeared he was the only one working the tables, which led to long periods of waiting to put in orders and pay our bill. Not on him though and I’d still go again regardless of how long it took.
Always a great experience! Good ramen and good food! Outside dining has propane warming lamps.
Love this place so much!!! Really wish I could buy a gift card. They said I could only buy online
Tables are really close to each other. If you have covid concerns, probably not the best place for you to go.
Everything was great love the mouthwash and mint in bathroom..nice touch…I will say the 2 seat dining tables are a bit to close to each other, but I understand due to the high demand…
Love this place. Great local go to spot
I’ve always loved this restaurant. The Ramen is good. For some reason is a bit on the loud side for some reason. Maybe because of where we were sitting or maybe we are just getting old so if you’re old just ask for a place where it’s not too loud. Lol
Outdoor on patio. Get the spiked apple cider
First of all this was my first time trying ramen like this and let’s just say I’m in loveeeeee ! Good amazing 10/10 recommend . It’s pretty busy definitely always make a reservation. The drinks were fire i had the Cure delicious! Only bad thing our waiter was thee worst he never checked on us and we would go 20+ mins without anyone asking if we needed anything . But the food well worth it and i will be back again soon .
Surprised my wife for a birthday dinner. She had heard so many rave reviews an had always wanted to go. The experience was better than she imagined. Thank you Chaplin for making my dining choice nothing shorter than fabulous!!
Amazing experience as always!!!!
Amazing food and amazing restaurant. However. The staff seem short handed, constantly apologizing for late food or for orders taking over 45min-1hr on week days. The staff themselves are very friendly, however there needs to be more of them to ensure a quicker environment
Great. The restaurant just had a bug (mosquito) problem that they strangely think is normally for restaurants.
Fantastic ramen. I had the Chaplin, and added bill choy, and my wife had the veggie shio, and the wakame broth in it was delicious. The wakame salad and shrimp gyoza were also excellent. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in DC.
Took a little longer to get our table and service was a little slower but everything was fantastic!
I took my mom here for dinner and the server was amazing he made my mom comfortable and made her learner chopsticks to help her learn how to use them
Heater was wonderful, sitting outside in this weather was more pleasant than expected! Beautiful place
Date was awesome
food tasted great but it was way too dark. Our food took Forever to arrive and mistakes with the order. While food was great not sure we would go back unless we have several hours to kill.
Poor service. Wrong meal.
Made reservations and made me wait 15 minutes to sit down
Due to COVID, we wanted to sit outside. They did have heaters which was great but didn't have umbrellas or an awning to protect from the rain:((
I had a drink which was creative but not great.
We went for a birthday for someone who LOVES ramen. This was listed as one of the best ramen places in the city in one of the foodie mags (forget which).
TBH: its a bar that serves okay ramen. The noodles... pretty sure they were homemade. The broth, definitely not bone broth. All in all go if you're meeting a date. Skip it for good ramen.
Service was good but slow.
Server was not present after taking order. Did not check on table. Water went dry and had to ask another very helpful server for water and another drink.
Good place for ramen. Pork buns were delicious. Wish the ramen had a little more toppings without having to pay for extra items, but overall it was tasty. We didn't order drinks, but the Bloody Marys and brunch cocktails that others ordered looked delicious.
A friend recommended Chaplins for the ramen and we loved it! Food was amazing and the cocktails too.
The food and service were great, as always, and we were happy to have outdoor seating. Unfortunately, someone decided to park their bike and hook up a speaker and microphone 2 yards away from our table, blaring music and incomprehensible rants for 45 minutes, running our ability to have a conversation.
Always an amazing experience with excellent service.
While the food was quite tasty, the service was mediocre. Visited Friday late evening, seated outdoors as requested. We were seated immediate after we arrived early for our reservation, but sat for about 15-20 minutes before being acknowledged by the wait staff to take our order. I ordered the Chaplin bowl and a cocktail. After placing the order it took another 30 minutes to receive it. Shortly after receiving my order another bowl and cocktail were delivered to the table, indicating a communications breakdown. Will probably only go back to try happy hour offerings.
Absolutely amazing experience and meal. We will definitely be back!
The food and drinks are always AMAZING here we love coming back but our waitress was so rude and dismissive. She was not polite and we had to ask her several times to take our order.
Had a wonderful night out. Loved the food and the cure (at happy hour pricing). Thanks Chaplin!
Food was delicious. Service was some of the worst we’ve had in our 5 years in DC. “What’s in the veggie dumplings?” “Umm. I’m not sure. Some carrots and cabbage mixed together?” It took over 15 minutes to take our drinks order - we had to flag down the waitstaff. By the looks of it, we were not the only table displeased.
The ramen had no salt at all. I don’t usually add salt but the food felt tasteless
Our server Copeland was the best. Made my bday special. Always a great go to place for dinner and special occasions,
Yes, I would. Just be aware that it is rather loud. The energy is good.
Ordered the Tan Tan Men & Veggie Shio for ramen options, and the shrimp & chicken shumai and beef gyozas to share. Everything was sooooo good. Beware of the Tokyo Tea Frozen Snow Monkeys, they are stronger than you think. Our server Samantha was amazing!
Great food, service was ok. Waiter was very nice but made a mistake by not ordering both meals at the same time (Accidentally). He realized it and corrected right away but I waited for my meal for another 8 minutes while my girlfriend had hers
Service was waaay below par. Forgot our drinks, didn't bring out utensils before food. I know lots has changed during COVID, but love this place and want it to continue to succeed.
