   Best service we’ve had in many years. Our first time at Char, and the food was fantastic. Our waiter told us what was good and what wasn’t on the menu. She was exactly right. We will definitely go back soon.

   I’ve been to Char many times. I’d been told recently that things had gone downhill, and it’s unfortunate that I had to learn that for myself. The calimari was all breading and not much else, my wedge was more like a sliver, and my Oscar filet was drowned in sauce, as was my asparagus. And the quality of my steak was just not what it has been in the past.

   It was very nice and food was good. Large portions for sharing and the pork chop is delicious, tender and juicy. Steak was delicious too! They don’t offer smaller cuts, so we shared steak and sides. Service took a little longer but very pleasant and friendly. Everyone helped serve our table of 10, and did a great job. Negatives: There was a bad odor when you entered into the hotel and restaurant which is not a great welcome. Not a very “comfy” space. We would go back for overall experience

   It took so long to get served, I had to leave and not even eat. We had a reservation and were on time. Would not do lunch there again. That is a different pace than dinner.

   Thank you Char Team for serving as host of our sons graduation dinner from UofR. Unfortunately, your kitchen was out of short ribs, asparagus, and other items desired for our meal on Sunday. The salmon was dry . Other than food rating, our dinner was good. Thank you.

   When ordering a medium rare cowboy ribeye for $100, it should be served at the temperature I ordered. It was unfortunately over cooked. Our waiter. Russell agreed, took a picture and took it back to the chef. The free dessert did not make up for the $100 steak that was over cooked.

    I had steak and frites. I asked for a med rare steak. It was m ore like med-med well. It was very tasty, i just prefer red throughout. Service was great. My husband enjoyed his bisque and steak sandwich. Service was great. Will definitely go back again.

    One of our favorite places. Specialty cocktail menu seemed smaller, a little disappointed in that. They are usually great. Cocktails we did have were very good. Food, we think. is always good. Tuna and steak tartars are always very good, Delmonico was cooked perfectly, as was the seared Ahi tuna. Brussel sprouts were particularly good. Allison has served us several times. Always fun and informative. Kudos!!

    Outstanding experience in every way. Great special occasion place or just a great excuse for a long lunch. Mark my server was fantastic and very helpful with the wine selection. Bartender Chris was also outstanding.

    Birthday Celebration Prior to dinner my Wife & I visited the upstairs bar/lounge. We really enjoyed the city view while having a pre dinner 🍹 drink. With our table ready, we went downstairs & was again greeted by the hostess then taken to our table. We were fortunate to have Russell as our server. He’s not just any Russell, he’s the middle aged chap with the accent. He was kind, courteous, he answered our questions, had suggestions, he even made us laugh, he ensured our time there was well enjoyed. Thanks Russell! For an appetizer we both had the the Pumpkin Lobster Bisque. Which was amazing!!! And for Dinner I went with the Short Rib and my bride went with the New York Strip Steak. We wound up skipping dessert as we were under prepared and overate. Bummer! Luckily thats now a mission for another time. Needless to say we’ll be back, and will have more pictures to post.

    We went for my husbands birthday. The service was a lax but slow and our steaks were a bit overcooked, but had great flavor. Although our server was late to come to our table, her personality made up for it.

    I was staying at the hotel as a diamond guest. I went to Char for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast & lunch were amazing. Great and friendly staff. Then there came dinner. I sat at the bar alone to dine, and went on my social media live, as I often do. Both bartenders were directly in front of me and I loudly yet politely said “excuse me.” And raised my hand up to attempt to get their attention. They ignored me and walked away. I said again “excuse me” and they still continued to pay no attention to me. At this point, my followers were all in shock at the fact that after 3-4 times I finally was given service. My filet mingion was a bit salty and my creamed spinach was a bit too cheesy. My tuna tartare was ok but flavor was slightly off. When I tried to let them know I was a little bothered at being snubbed several times, I was dismissed and he just walked away. I pride myself on treating ppl as I’d like to be treated, so in closing, when it comes to Char, I will likely not be returning. I do use my social media to review places as I travel often and enjoy fine dining, so maybe one of the 21k followers that may be in the area may have a better experience. The day time staff were 100% amazing though, truly. But feel like the dinner staff left me feeling slighted. The bar and restaurant had a nice ambiance and was presented very clean and tidy. I did have a longer than expected wait between the tartare & my steak, and it honestly didn’t seem too busy that it should have been that long. Maybe it was just a bad day for them.

    Delighted they are open for lunch again. We were welcoming a new hire to our small firm. Our waitress was attentive, the food delicious (as always), and we look forward to returning for another luxurious office lunch.
