Char was not a disappointment. As usual, the food was amazing and the service was great.
Loudest restaurant I’ve ever been in. Had to yell to speak to eachother. Service was slow. Meal was pretty good.
The place was extremely loud.
I ordered my steak medium but it came out more on the rare side. Waitress offered to take it back to be cooked more but I declined.
Might come back and give it another try. Kind of pricey.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday on a busy Saturday night. It was very crowded but still the service was excellent. The food came out on time. They even remembered to bring out dessert with a candle and sang Happy Birthday! Great time.
I wish I could give the staff more stars. I know it's hard to work on Thanksgiving, and the whole staff was so sweet and welcoming and delightful and joyous... It elevated a great dinner into one that my family says is the best we've ever had. Everything was perfect.

Very loud ! Too loud . Took very long time to get a drink . Bacon appetizer was too fatty. My twice baked potato was burnt . Our server seemed slow.
We have dined at Char many times. Usually on a Saturday night, the service is slow and we just deal with it. However, last night (Saturday) the service was excellent and timely. The service was great and the food was delicious. This was also one of our first forays into dining indoors and we were very pleased.
We always have a good meal at Char. The menu is large and varied. I request special cooking and they always comply with a smile. We're never rushed and plan to go back many times.

My friend enjoyed her meal from start to finish; I wasn’t as lucky. Filet mignon was chewy (was Med rare), the broccoli which I paid extra for was like rubber. They gave me a salad as a substitute which was good.
The mashed potatoes weren’t anything special, the au jus was bland. The dessert which we took home was so-so.
Also, I asked in the beginning to bring a bottle or jug of water and a large glass. They did neither

Char is my favorite restaurant in the Hudson Valley. Staff is all amazing. We are regular customers.
The Restaurant Week website listed Char Restaurant as participating, however, when we arrived, we were told they were not participating that day, so I was very disappointed. Other than that, the food and service was great as usual.
Sadly, this was a big bust. We visited for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, and all four of us ordered from the HVRW special menu. The appetizers). were horrible. I ordered what was called a "Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail" which was two medium sized shrimp on a pile of ice. (see photo) The Calamari appetizer was covered in a green wet sauce with mashed peppers in it. As far as entrees, one in our party could not eat the salmon - it was inedible due to a strange green sauce that was smeared all over it. Another ordered the Beef Stew, which was mostly noodles. Two of us ordered Surf and Turf, and although the steak was good, the stuffed shrimp was wet and soggy, with wet stuffing. The desserts were good. I would not go back. With drinks (Budweiser in a bottle, and Stella Cider in a Bottle, both at $8 each, the bill was $219.00, and we were all up sick all night. Try somewhere else.
Prime rib entre was adequate, not great. Noise level was so high, my wife and I couldn't hold a conversation without shouting across the table.
We were seated right away and the waiter was right there to take our drink order . The drinks were a little slow coming out but in all fairness it was very busy. The waiter was very attentive and stayed on top of everything. The fdood was excellent and the fact that they were so busy on a Wednesday night tells you it's a good restaurant.
1st brunch in many years. Thank you for making it special.

The dining room was crowded and loud, but the steaks were very good.
We booked our reservation for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week (HVRW) at Char. When I asked the waitress about the HVRW menu item I had chosen, she informed us that they were not participating even though they are listed for Saturdays for HVRW. I also find Char inflates their menu fixed price for several of the past HVRWs.
Went on a Saturday night during restaurant week $10 off next meal). Because it was so busy, food was not of usual quality and slow to come out.
The quality of the New York Strip was not that fantastic!
We went there for Restaurant Week- Char was listed on the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week as being available on Saturdays. I called and spoke with the owner
to confirm that they were accepting Saturdays and he guaranteed me "YES" we will be serving our restaurant week menu on Saturdays.
Lo and behold, we get there and they would not honor restaurant week menu.

Delicious food, fun exciting atmosphere, and great service.
Appetizer and entrees were mediocre at best. The red snapper special was minute. It was served with bland roasted potatoes and bland broccoli. My husband’s seafood/pasta dish had very little seafood and he didn’t eat it. The shrimp, etc was tough bc it was over cooked. The best thing about the meal was the bottle of Cabernet. Very disappointed since it has such good reviews.
Great restaurant! Our waiter was wonderful, food was very good. We loved the fried calamari with it's spicy/tangy Asian sauce! My husband loved his steak. My Salmon of the restaurant week was cooked perfect, however I really didn't like the sauce. To me it was more of a steak or beef sauce. It was a brown gravy with mushrooms. Desserts were delish especially the Almond cake.. Definitely recommend!!

Our food was incredible! The service is always excellent. Although the restaurant gets very noisy, its still always a great experience. This is my favorite steakhouse!
First time there ever. Welcoming, sincere, real staff. Excellent food and service, my fillet minion was perfectly cooked and prime. Wonderful decor, reminded me of Gallagher Steak House in NY. Only drawback was, that the noise level would get above our conversation at times. We can not wait to share with friends.

$91 for a steak!!! Great food but very noisy. But the noise acceptable. Still I have one major issue. I have never heard of a Tomahawk Steak and it was on the "Specials" which the waitress told us about. Imagine my shock when I received the check and found out that meal was $91. As I mentioned to the waitress, we should have been informed of that in advance. There is a time in my life where I would have been mortified because we did not have the $350 plus bill. I have been to this restaurant before and I would still go back but ask the prices for the specials. If you go, do the same.

Ownership, staff, and of course, quality chef makes for the perfect dining experience. Add great menu options and drink menu, and new wine list, it's a must go to!
The Asian calamari and Mahi Mahi tacos are a great start, along with dumplings and coconut shrimp!! All excellent! If you're craving something new, the srew with pappardal is awesome, as is the zappa de pesce and rack of lamb!
As for service, Desiree in the bar area and Mike in the main restaurant are both amazing servers, and give you every reason to feel comfortable for every return. A+
