   Booked a Birthday dinner for my wife. No birthday mention to her, food was cold, attempts by management to repair the evening were disastrous, overcharged on the scotch I ordered by $20...we ended up leaving. Never coming back.

   It was unfortunate that our order was delayed by an hour due to a reported computer glitch. Our waiter despite the error, worked to ensure we were provided an appetizer once the error was known and thereafter he adjusted our bills to reflect the waiting time. This to me is not typical of Char Bar and I will return here and will still recommend to others if asked. Thank you to our waiter for handling it all with grace.

   For what they’re charging there should certainly be heaters on the patio. We also waited a preposterous amount of time for the main course. The waiter was great.

    Grilled octopus is my favourite. I order it every time I’m there. The steak (rare) seemed to melt in my mouth. Biggest challenge for me is deciding what to order as I’ve never had a bad experience. Staff seemed genuine and were attentive. I will continue to support restaurants that support local producers. Can’t wait to dine again.

    We ordered a seafood tower for two that cost $150. Not enough for two, the items are changed from what is posted online. We left and had to go somewhere to eat something else. At the end of the day we ended up feeling sick. The waitress had an attitude when did not tip presumably what she was expecting. Overprice and not a good value.

    Had an amazing business lunch here! We all ordered a variety of things and everyone was very happy with their selections- I personally had the grilled octopus- which was cooked to perfection (very hard to do, so thank you Chef!), my colleague had the burger which looked mouthwatering and another notable dish was the ceviche (def, get the extra bread to soak up all the extra yummy sauce!). Thank you to all the staff for being so wonderfully kind, attentive and patient with our group of 3 that turned to 6 very quickly :)

    The food is tasty. The main, a 32oz porterhouse was on point. The sides are very small for the money. The provoletta appetizer was similar to what I’ve had in Argentina. Had a one ounce drink that advertises on the menu for $8. Made it a spritzer and it became $12? Expensive club sofa. If I return it’ll be for brunch. Frankly it’s not great value for the $$$$.

    Great atmosphere, live music appropriate to the venue and Mother's Day brunch event. Food and drinks slow coming from the kitchen. Service attentive but they can only do so much if the kitchen is slow.

    My sisters and I had a fantastic time at Charbar! The food was incredible and amazing. We started with the traditional fugazza gluten free, the tableside ceviche, and continued with the cauliflower au gratin and the charred pork belly. We shared all the plates and we enjoyed the meal immensely. Thank you for a great dinner!

    I invited a couple of friends there, they had not been before. I hadn't been since pre-covid. I have to say the service was terrible. We waited 20 minute for server to take our order and another 15 in-between drinks which we ended up cancelling. The thing is it wasn't that busy. And honestly it's insulting to pay the high cost of food with that kind of service. It was embarrassed that I recommended going there.

    Steak was chewy. Coffee Luke warm. Chocolate dessert had a weird flavour and texture. Hostess forgot about us. Had a guest visiting from overseas and it was disappointing. Have been several times before and food has been excellent. Not sure what happened.

    Patio was a bit cool and windy but we did eventually get moved inside. Server was nice, friendly, but a bit awkward. Hi information on menu items was average and more opinions than descriptions. The by the glass wine menu is a little lacking. Medium rare steak was more medium, which is not really acceptable for a restaurant with steak as the feature entree. And the optional sauce for the steak would have been preferred on the side. Based on this experience I wouldn’t rush back in all honesty.

    Had a very nice evening. Our server was funny and friendly. The food was outstanding. My girlfriend had the crispy pork belly and i had the trout and both dishes were excellent. We sat out on the patio which gave us a wonderful view of the river and it was nice to see people walking around. I do have 1 nitpick which is not the restaurants fault but more-so just the area in which the restaurant is. The restaurant is located right near downtown close to bridge land. Due to it being in downtown there was a fair bit of homeless activity. We had two instances of homeless people. One homeless guy came up to the patio saying that a man was assaulting him. He left swiftly and just left after a while with no fuss Later in the evening there was a man wearing a red bandana over his face who was circling the building and was hanging out uncomfortably close to us. However, all of the staff were aware of this and the management called and dealt with the person. Kudos to management for their awareness and action in dealing with that situation. Other then that, it was a fantastic evening and i would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to try it.

    Very disappointed in this place. My gf and I went to celebrate her birthday. There was no music or anything so all you could hear is people talking or it would get very quiet. Also our service was not good, my gf had warm champagne. The server was very rude with us, it’s like we were annoying her because we were taking our time to order. The food was good but the rest ruined our experience. Would not go back here.

    Booked ahead, but was seated in a small corner booth. Would ask for a better spot next time. Our server was amazing, she was very good. The food was alright. Not spectacular but good. We had Octopus, Crab, Steak and burger, and it was ok. Overall it was a good dinner but I don't think we would return.

    Steak was over cooked, then the new one was undercooked. Sides were good. Our waitress was just ok, did the bare minimum even though it was very slow and our food was wrong. Building is beautiful! We probably won’t be back.

    This was our second time going to Charbar and the food never disappoints! We did have to wait a bit longer than usual, but the server gave us free drinks to apologize for the wait. Honestly the wait was worth it. We will definitely come back and recommend to friends! Love this place a million times <3

    Pleasant experience however upon arrival the reception advised us that ‘because we are fully booked tonight we’ll need you to leave by 7:15.’ When I questioned them about it I was met with the response: ‘Don’t worry that give you 2 full hours to eat.’ Found it odd that they said that to us as the place was pretty empty. But because of it we felt rushed and had not even been seated yet. We were with family from out of town and wanted to have a nice night out. Was even more so frustrated because no only did Open Table send me a text to confirm, someone from the restaurant also called to confirm. Not once was anything ever mention anything about a time limit otherwise we would have chosen another restaurant. Poor form Charbar.

That part is tricky as we move tables around constantly to maximize our space, so we may not have known at the time of the confrimation call that there were back to back reservations. Either way we have addressed ways to better comunicate how to navigate time constraints for guests with the host team.     Had high expectations after recommendations. Came for a special event. The burgers were soaked in sauce that was not even listed on the menu, the steaks were tough and you had to ask for chimichurri. Nothing Argentine about the place except for a few menu items with the names of dishes. Very expensive and overrated. Our waitress was sweet but the kitchen was slow. The building is cool and on the river. Might be fun for a date night but not for a special event and not for casual dining as it is over priced.
