A very welcoming restaurant with very attentive waiters. The food and wine were sublime. Tables are well spaced so you don’t hear other people’s conversation. Very cosy . A great atmosphere with outstanding fish dishes
Excellent authentic Portuguese restaurant. The manager owner welcomes guests very nicely and the waiters and waitresses are charming, very courteous and efficient. The fish selection (catch of the day) is impressive and delicious and the Portuguese wines choice is great also. I recommend Chiado without hesitation
Amazing restaurant and staff. Food was spectacular...!!!
Outstanding seafood! The octopus is so buttery. Outstanding wine selection, huge selection of Portuguese wines that pair well the the food. And the service is great, just ask waiters for recommendations and you can’t go wrong!
My wife and I visited Chaido after a Momma Mia matinee performance. I had heard great things about this restaurant and I was very impressed. Truly a fine dining experience! It is not cheap but the freshness and quality of the ingredients and the attentive service...incredible! Will definitely return! Cheers,
Celebrated a special birthday; it could not have been a more perfect choice for a memorable dinner.
AMAZING! Everything was delicious. The staff was helpful, energetic and professional. Worth a visit!
Excellent meal, kind, patient attentive staff. Highly recommend
Food excellent. Service prompt without hurry. Menu expansive in options but not overwhelming. Wine list basic and satisfying. Prices consistent with quality.
Chiado was one of my wife and I's best dining experiences. Our waiter was a professional at the top of his craft, in keeping with the European tradition of service being a serious profession. The food was exquisite!
A wonderful evening of fine dining! We had dinner here last year and will make it again next year. A remarkable experience for our annual visit to Toronto. Food choices were excellent and all beautifully presented. Not too much food and yet not too mean- just the right volume!
Outstanding food/quality and top notch service. Lovely decor/ambiance. Pricey - about $300 for two with wine.
Outstanding food and service!
I have always loved Chiado. So much so that I invited friends to join our Anniversary dinner.
The food was as always fantastic. Lots of interesting flavours, lots of amazing fish choices etc....
Here's the very big DISAPOINTMENT. Is when the bill came to us. We found that there was another bottle of wine added to our bill.
My friends that were with us. Said that they were super disappointed. That they are finding this happening in TO a lot. The very last thing I expected that it would happen to us at CHIADO!
He did not want to give tip at all. But, he didn't want to ruin our anniversary. Please fix this and fast!
It kind of ruined everything else that was great up to that moment. Too bad!
It will become our GO TO restaurant for any special occasion. Simply put: Fantastic.
I’ve heard raving review about Chiado so came here with my girlfriend for Summerlicious.
The Appetizers were fresh and flavourful but can’t say the same for our mains.
The dishes were executed perfectly ( duck confit had nice crispy skin / octopus was tender) but lacked flavour.
Our dessert had some stale meringue pieces and overall was not well put together. As for service the Staff is very warm and attentive so we definitely appreciated that!
We were an international, sophisticated group of foodies from out of town and loved the restaurant.
Food was excellent but a little too small on the portions (although we were full) at the end. My only issue was that we ordered coffee with cream and sweetner and when it came they gave us milk. I cannot drink coffee with milk and I guess I must have made a "facial expression" because someone came over to me to ask "what can I do for you ?" without me signalling to our waiter (it might have been the owner) ... I said that I had asked for cream and the answer came back "I am sorry but that is all we have" and walked away. I wanted to say "then please take this back" but he left very abruptly and I ended up drinking my coffee with the milk (because I knew they make their coffee individually and it was more than $4 for just the 1 cup). I did end up having digestive issues later on. The point is that they should have told me before they made the coffee that they only had milk when I specifically asked for cream ......
My experience before was excellent, but this time around we were both disappointed. It's not that the food was terrible ... it just underwhelmed. Very average food from an above average place like Chiado.
Dined for Summerlicious. One of the best meals we have had during this event. Will go back
Went for lunch and loved the food!
I came here with my girlfriend. The squid appetizer was one of the best I have ever had. We each ordered different fish. Both were moist and flavorful. Will be back here again.
It wasn't bad, just nothing to write home about. None of the flavors wowed me. The grilled squid appetizer was the best out of the 3 dishes I had. It was summerlicious so maybe they don't put as much effort in? But the service was great. Everyone was very nice.
I would have given Food 3 1/2. Exceptional service.
My wife and I ate at Chiado during a recent visit to Toronto. Food and service were very, very good. We both had their grilled sardine appetizer, which was very tasty. (Although I prefer to have my sardines grilled whole and to take them off the bones myself). My main was their grilled octopus, which was very tasty and tender. My wife's fish (skate) was also very good. Our waiter recommended a nice bottle of Portuguese white which went perfectly with our food. Gluten free options not a problem. Their summer 3 course menu is a great deal.
A surprise for a good small restaurant
They have the cleanest washroom in downtown area!!
I decided to try a different place to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were both
extremely happy with the service and the food. The selection of food was fabulous
and both of our meals were amazing. I will certainly be returning and taking the
rest of my family and will be recommending it to friends.
We went for Summerlicious after it was recommended by a friend. Excellent food. Will be back soon.
Great service and great food.
Very delicates Portuguese traditional food. Highly recommended for all kind of seafood. Duck is also good. Desserts are amazing
Summerlicious meal. Good selection. My choices were cooked very nicely. Service was attentive and excellent.
The grilled squid and the crusted Atlantic salmon were excellent
The service was really good. The food was amazing! For sure I will come back soon!
If you are looking for excellent Portuguese food in an elegant setting, this is the place to go in Toronto. It is on the expensive side, but it is well worth it for that special occasion. My wife and I traveled from the USA to celebrate our anniversary and we’ll probably do it again next year. If I had to make an observation it would be the parking issue. There is no place to park the car. They offer valet parking and the charge will be automatically on your food bill. I think that there should be no charge for the valet parking!
taste good. eventhough we had lunch there，still a lot people there but not noisy at all.
Delicious, authentic Portuguese cuisine. Huge wine and seafood selection.
We had an absolutely delightful meal. The service was warm yet professional, the food exquisite and the wine selections perfect. So glad we dined there!
Upscale Portuguese restaurant that REALLY knows how to source and prepare seafood. Grilled sardines were a revelation - delicate, flavourful without being 'fishy' or oily. Also notable was the squid which was tender and cooked just right. Far from the rubber rings often served elsewhere in Toronto.
Excellent traditional service. Knowledgeable and attentive without being obtrusive.
