A bit disappointed that you forgot that it was my partner’s birthday. Also after we finished the sparkling water no more water was brought to our table.
Couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating to my 95 year old mother! Thank you!
I went for lunch with my husband on a Thursday. They were very friendly and the service was excellent.
The food is nicely presented and very tasty. I recommend the fish of the day.
The wine was great too.
Prices are very reasonable.
We will definitely come back
Great service! Amazing food. Very happy to be here again.
Reliable place. Food quality is very good. recoomend for a good seafood or fish dinner.
I was visiting from the west and found this restaurant online before I got to Toronto. The reviews and website looked wonderful. It was everything I expected. Maybe even a bit more. Well done.
An excellent long lunch over conversation with out of town friends. Exquisite food. The four of us ordered 3 appetizers each, well matched with wines that we were offered samples of to help with our preferences. My favourite lobster and shrimp bisque in town, as are the baked goat cheese and eggplant, and the grilled octopus appetizers. Consistent professional and courteous service. Perfect ambience for conversation. Can’t wait to return soon.
Great food and service in warm surroundings. We enjoyed our visit. Portions we're just the right size if you have appetizers and desserts otherwise the main course may seem a bit small. The wine selection is perfect and we splurged on two bottles of Douro. All in all a good experience we will go again.
the best experience when it comes to seafood and what service
I and my family felt very warmly welcomed and fed like kings
and we do go to all 4-star restaurants.
thank you, Chiado and the team
The menu is not what you expect from a traditional Portuguese restaurant so I wouldn't consider this a traditional restaurant. To me it was a spin on Portuguese gastronomy but on higher-end scale. Missing is the Mariscada, Caldo Verde, churrasco, carne Alantejana. The dishes each of us ordered were all very well prepared, delicious and generous portions. The waiter staff were all very nice and professional. They took their time explaining how the food was to be prepared and made recommendations. They frequently checked on us and were genuinely interested in making sure we were having a good time. Party of 3, appetizers, soup, main dish and bottle of wine cost $250 Canadian. Not the cheapest meal but again well worth the price given the quality of the food, service and ambiance. Well done Chiado!
Stumbled onto this restaurant quite by chance. Was looking for something that was close to Mirvish...which it’s not! That being said thought reviews looked good make and early reservation and then Uber to the theatre. So glad I made that decision.
What a lovely experience and impeccable service. Food was AMAZING. Such a lovely evening out. Can’t wait to return. Everyone participated in making the evening memorable and perfect. Thank you Sylvia
Our appetizers were very good (octopus, grilled sardines) and the wine recommendation also excellent. However, my dinner was the dry soup, which was oddly goupy and had very little seafood. The two clams were nice and the one big shrimp overcooked. Monkfish was in there, but hard to find. It definitely was not dry; instead, rich and creamy and dense. In the end, it made me feel sick the whole next day. My husband too, who finished it for me. His cod entree was nice though.
Fantastic Food and fantastic waiters.
Great restaurant, it ticked all the boxes and the seafood was to die for! My wife and I were in Toronto for a child free break and decided on this place for our main meal out and it didn’t disappoint. My wife being of Portuguese / Madeiran heritage was always going to be a hard one to please, but pleased she was. The food was simply delicious, the front of house staff knowledgable and the local Madeiran / Portuguese fish (inc. Espada or Scabbard fish) a nice touch. We would return in a heartbeat and are already planning a return visit to Toronto and Chiado is very much on the “must do” list.
Everything about this restaurant is wonderful. It's expensive but well worth it.
Fabulous restaurant. Highly recommend, best seafood restaurant we have been to in Toronto.
Excellent from start to end. Food was amazing
Very classy service, presentation and setting.
White linen tablecloth and napkins.
$40-$45 main dishes, appetizers $10-$20, so plan on spending over $200 without a bottle of wine or desserts.
Quality but expensive. Don't think it is worthwhile.
Great fresh fish options, classic Portuguese style. 5 stars
Food was perfect - the quail/risotto was scrumptious
Our evening was seriously marred by rude and/or indifferent service from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, with the bus boy as the only person who was pleasant. There was no acknowledgement of any sort that it was Valentine’s Day- in fact I don’t think we’ve ever experienced such an unpleasant evening out.
Amazing place and atmosphere, completely professional. I love the fact that the show your menu options, like the actual fresh fish, before you eat. Would go back for sure
Chiado consistently is exceptional. We dine out a lot and have tried all the "Top Ten" recommended Toronto restaurants. None is better than Chiado and few compare. In fact, last Thursday we dined in what is often rated as among the top three Toronto restaurants and it paled in comparison to Chiado.
Food was pretty good. Originally got an over cooked meal and they replaced it with something else. This was ok but really I just want what I ordered. Also it was my dads birthday and mentioned this upon booking a reservation and at the restaurant. I was surprised when they didn’t do anything in particular at all. Usually a restaurant will provide a free desert or something. Anyways all and all could have stepped it up a bit, especially for the price.
This was probably our 6 or 7 visit to Chiado. This time for Winterlicious and the food was wonderful. I had the swordfish starter and the salmon fillet as my main dish. My wife had the shrimp bisque and the cod. All of the dishes we’re excellently prepared and the service was perfect. Chiado is one of Toronto’s best restaurants for fish. We will certainly be back again.
It was an excellent experience for the night. My family enjoyed every minute of it
Food is outstanding. Service gentle and attentive. Ambiance quite and discreet.
It is a perfect place. It is not too big but not congest, you feel comfortable in all areas, services, food . the last thing I want to say is THANKS
I took my parents to the restaurant and we all loved the food and wine. The service was very genuine and our server was quite knowledgeable about both the food and the drink menu. I ordered goat cheese, eggplant and mushroom as an appetizer, fresh black cod for the main meal and the creme caramel for the dessert. My parents ordered arugula salad, fresh black cod and chocolate cake with rum. The only downside was the chocolate cake was too thick. Other than this everything was delicious and cooked very well. We will definitely go back to dine here again.
I went with a friend at winterlicious. I found it to be very pricey for nothing very special. I am sad to say this, because I had wanted to try Chiado for years, and likely won't return.
So nice to go there for a lunch. Have been several times for dinner, but found the lunch service excellent and food as always quite outstanding. The presentation is particularly well done. We did a Winterliscious package and nice to see the restaurant quite busy.
This restaurant never fails to thrill us. They always have fish that you never see anywhere else on menus and it is done just perfectly. This time it came on a bed of risotto. The squid appetizer is so tender and flavourful. They recommended a Portuguese wine which was so tasty and went perfectly with the meal. The service is very friendly and attentive. Even though the restaurant was quite full you could easily have a normal conversation. We just love this restaurant!
Nice restaurant, but would not recommend for winterlicious lunch menu. sorry, but not impressed. Was expecting much more....
A true neighbourhood gem! Excellent food. Old school vibe. Professional service.
Excellent choice. The service from the second we entered Chiado was very, very good without being overbearing. The dishes were beautifully presented matched by the delicious flavours. Highly recommend but be prepared to spend a few bucks - it will be worth it. But remember, parking on/around College St. is a nightmare so leave plenty of time.
The feeling is as close as you can get to being in Lisbon in Toronto. Earing at Chiado beought back all the memories of my stay in Lisbon 18 years ago. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was attentive and NOT pushy. The staff will never push items on you and they also take care not to push the expensive wines. They are knowledgeable and will educate you about all the food items and wines but they will leave the choosing ul to you. The wine service is outstanding. They decant their wine in a beautiful duck decanter and serve it properly. The staff are very profesional. This is an upscale place yet cozy at the same time. We were there for Winterlicious and the choices were food. I have eaten there before and know the consistent high standards of this well established restaurant.
Great seafood, very fresh!!!!
This is my fourth meal at Chiado. Always delicious. Everyone loved their meal. Eggplant and goat cheese appetizer was so flavourful. Fresh cod main dish was to die for. Highly recommended.
I have already told a number of friends. It was one of the best meals I've EVER had.
