Chiado Ratings and Reviews
Service and food are unbeatable.
Great staff. These folks really know what they are doing.
Thank you for a consistently flawless experience.
I haven't been here for a few years -- there were six of us, two parents and four kids in their twenties. We were all very impressed.
The wine list has Portuguese wines, which I was not really familiar with. The waiter knew the wine list well, though, so we had really tasty wines within our budget -- one red and one white -- both from the Douro region.
The best starter was a grilled pear with cheese and balsamic reduction, a daily special, but all we had were good. i don't think you can go wrong here, the kitchen obviously knows what it is doing.
We all had fish/seafood for our main courses. There are the items on the menu and then three or four extras. I had the salt cod, which is a favourite of mine and hard to find anywhere else (the salt cod is a little more firm than fresh). The lobster with saffron risotto got rave reviews.
The service is at the highest professional level.
They have valet parking, which we didn't use on account of the wine list.
Excellent as usual.
Upscale restaurant with really first-class service, excellent food, combined with very moderate check (~100 per person)
Rather dissatisfied with the sardines and the main course ( various fish) and very slow service. No nearly as good as previous visits.
Quiet, intimate setting for a business meal. Well priced food and wine menu. Non intrusive service. Great experience overall.
This is a tremendous restaurant. Everything -- food, service and ambiance -- was first rate. Management offered options not on the menu that very much enjoyed. The restaurant has a great wine selection. Expensive, but worth the cost.
Amazing food and service, this is our favorite place in Toronto
Small cozy restaurant and great sea food selection especially Portuguese fish. Good wine selection (Portuguese Esporao).
Wonderful service, very large Portuguese wine list, however overall I felt it was a little "pricey".
I have been to Chiado on many occasions for lunch and it is lovely for 2 to 4 people, also lunch seemed priced more reasonably for what you receive.
We were there for a birthday celebration with 8 people - the atmosphere just felt stifled and we felt loud and ostentatious compared to the low key dining room.
Would recommend to a couple or a couple of friends, but not for people ready to have a "fun" and energetic evening.
Authentic Portuguese food and wine, with fantastic array of fresh fish.
Excellent selection of fresh seafood. Probably one of the best seafood restaurants in the city and service is second to none.
Best Portuguese restaurant in Toronto! The food is amazing and very well presented! Really recommend!
Simply one of the best restaurants in Toronto. The seafood is exquisite. Careful preparation, gorgeous presentation -- really, I can't imagine how they could improve the place. It's not cheap, but it is wonderful.
I've eaten here once or twice a year for the last decade and have never had anything but an outstanding meal. The fish is as good as it gets and there are great Portuguese wines (hard to find in North America) to accompany the meal. Service is good and wait staff are helpful. The latest meal was, possibly, even better than usual.
Wonderful restaurant with fantastic service. Very attentive and professional, while giving a cozy feel.
The meal was excellent and the pre-dinner amuse-bouche lovely. I could not eat it as I don't eat cheese and as soon as they saw this they brought me a replacement which was certainly excellent service and consideration. Unfortunately, I ordered something, on the say-so of the server, which was like "bouillabaise" but turned out to be a sort of stew based on stale bread, with, I might add, wonderful seafood. As I am a celiac, I traded my dinner with my husband's and he ate the Assorda (stew) instead .... as this was at least partly my fault, I don't blame the restaurant.
We had lovely Madeira and a great pre-dinner drink and no dessert but the bisque was fabulous, as a starter.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal of grilled grouper in an atmosphere that was delightfully old school. The white wines by the glass were delicious. We were treated very well. An exceptionally fine experience.
Absolutely brilliant and reasonable priced!!
The service was outstanding and the food was incredible. Great value! Four beautiful glass of wine paired with the meal, which included 2 appetizers, 2 mains, coffee and dessert for 150$.!! Very well worth it!! Old school place that does it well!!
A lovely experience. Beautiful service, beautiful food.
Still one of the best restaurants in Toronto. Everything is done with style and polish and the food is superb. Definitely the best fish resto in the city.
Food was very good and service was excellent. If the food had that extra care and quality and they put the right meals in front of the right guests, it would have received a top review.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! I would not hesitate to go back. We all enjoyed are meals, there was a lot of attention to detail and the wait staff were very knowlegable and very professional. Food was delicious, looking forward to go back again to try something new from their menu!
Absolutely the best fish and seafood restaurant in town!! After 26 years in business, offers incredible service, beautiful room, attention to detail, and warm atmosphere. The fish is prepared to perfection and the presentation perfect, paired with the right vegetables and sides. When the platter of fish and seafood flown in from the Azores and elsewhere is presented to your table, it is a thing of art!! And the service? Polite, helpful, patient, engaged but never in your face.
After the complimentary and home made fresh cheese amuse bouche, had perfect salmon tartare topping an avocado base, flavoured to highlight the delicate salmon. Also had grouper tartare prepared to perfection in a slightly honeyed citrus drizzle. For mains we had the fresh, whole branzino, which was accompanied by a side medley of spinach, rapini, squash and potato. The fish was grilled to perfection, moist and meaty with a delicate flavour. Of course, they offered to debone it but I preferred to exercise my own skill at this. We also had the spada, that wonderful Portuguese fish so hard to find in Toronto. Grilled lightly on a bed of spinach risotto. We had a beautiful and light but incredibly lively Albariño kept perfectly cold and topped up regularly by our attentive waiter throughout. And dessert? The unbelievable 'Molotov', their exquisite creation of puffed meringue softly cooked and 6 inches high, with caramelized meringue cookie on a light creme on a plate contrasted with a drizzle of fresh berries. Also had the simple-sounding fresh berries, which arrived in a spectacular dark chocolate cone and drizzled with a light creme anglais.
If you are looking for a perfect dinner and dining experience this is the place. Never a misstep and you leave feeling happy, and satisfied on every level. No pretention or rip off here. Just the best dining experience overall.
They are never disappointed me, always special and lots of varieties of market fishes every time we visited. I highly recommend to whoever love to have seafood and that is a good choice in the city.
We had a couple of the fish options and the Bacalhau à Brás to start. The dishes all came out with great plating and we cooked to perfection. The natas do céu was a great way to end the meal, and the Portuguese wines we pared were delightful.
Chiado is one of the 5 best restaurants in Toronto and has been for over 20 years.
This is a seafoad restaueant. Fish is fresh . Order a whole fish grilled and is excellent. Steam clam is outstanding.
Amazing fish selection and cooked perfectly
Top Notch!! No point in getting into details. Excellent Food, great service and Outstanding Wines!!!
Celebrated our anniversary and it was perfect. The food was outstanding, as well as the cocktails, wine, and service!
The flavors, the service and the ambiance made for a very special evening!
Always 5 stars!
We had the most wonderful time at Chiado on Sunday. The service was impeccable, the wine was delicious and the fresh fish was such a treat. We tried the fish tasting dish, three types of fresh fish with their own veggies etc. One of us had the rack of lamb and is was cooked to perfection! Dessert is a must! Thank you so much for making our birthdays and anniversary so memorable!
Very pleasant experience - nice touches (olives, fresh cheese), excellent service, delicious food.
The restaurant is really nice. My friend is from France and I'm from Venezuela and we really enjoy the experience. The server made everything to make us happy and he achieved it. The food was amazing and the flavors really peculiar is a good way.
Seafood was fresh and the octopus was amazing . Staff was friendly and never pushy. Felt like we were back in Lisbon.
The experience didn't disappoint and the food was fantastic!
Very good but pricey. But you get what you pay for.
One of our goto places for a special meal, especially seafood.
