Thank you Ciao Bella for being here all these years, with good solid Canadian Italian fare. Will miss you, and all the best to your wonderful staff.
Ciao Bella is a favorite of mine when I am in Vancouver. Great wine list, nice menu full of Italian favorites. I tried a 3-course special from the Salmon Festival menu, it was delicious! Live piano music is enjoyable but does not detract from a good meal. Best to make a reservation since it's a small restaurant and very popular. Highly recommend!!
We had an amazing time the food was great as always service was the best and the piano player topped off a perfect evening there we 9 of us and a good time was had by all!!
Great servings, kinda bummed my meatballs were cold otherwise good overall
Excellent service, the food was very good and the prices are very fair.
We totally LOVE Ciao Bella and are so sad it will be closing in September as they are taking down the building. Another west end victim of developers working to destroy Vancouver.
Big portions, fantastic food
The service at this restaurant was horrible. The server didn’t provide menus till we’d be there for 10 minutes, shushed people and was just generally rude. The food was not good and the departure was poor. Btw, there were only 10-12 tables seated for an early dinner, not super busy.
We had a lovely server and greatly enjoyed the live piano music!
food , Bill and staff amazing as always we are regulars it’s the best.
bryon & Lynda
Charming restaurant; live piano music. I had the salmon, but wasn't given the choice of pasta or vegetable. would have preferred vegetables. My husband had the gnocchi gorgonzola, was delicious.
Good food. Very cramped seating. Great service!
We were there for a Bday party and booked the whole patio. When I got there, there was still people eating outside which was uncomfortable for us. My friends and I were 21 people and there was only 1 server to help us! She tried to do her best but of course she won’t be able to satisfy our number. The table layout was separated which is every 6 people on a table which we expected to be a one long table that is enough for everyone to set next to each other! When i asked if we can reorganize it, they said sorry our tables are not even and we won’t have a space to serve u too!
About the food, small portions and overpriced. The food wasn’t as fresh as I expected! Honestly, I wouldn’t go there again.
Wonderful staff made my girlfriends 25th birthday amazing. Very accommodating for 20 of us!!!!! Fast service. The pastas were delicious and well proportioned.
Always reliable - excellent and rapid service, really good food, and half-price pastas on Monday and Tuesdays. Love this place!
We've being going to Ciao Bella for nearly two decades. They never disappoint.
The food was excellent –after all, that's the main reason to eat out, right? My seafood risotto wonderful; the calamari rings in it were very tender, instead of the usual overcooked rubber in a dish like this.
The dining area is small and as a result tables are close to each other, and once a few dishes arrive, the table top can get crowded quickly. The live piano music was nice, but it did make it difficult to talk to anyone if they weren't sitting right next to you. They were very busy when we were there, and the speed of service suffered a bit as a result, but they were more than apologetic for it, and even gave us a complimentary bottle of wine to make up for it!
Once again an amazing meal and terrific service. Not to be missed!!
As always pasta cooked a dente -😍
A real neighborhood gem. The pasta is first rate and the lasagna is wonderful. Sadly, the owner shared with us that they were closing in 6 months due to development. Hopefully, he will find a new location although it will be hard to duplicate the intimate bistro setting. Get the early or get a reservation. The place got crowded real quick and the owner knows everyone.
Amazing quaint Italian restaurant. Live piano is a great touch. Great food; great service
Heaters on the patio made our evening.....had it to ourself!
I'm a regular here when I visit Vancouver and always enjoy it. Very pleased that the piano player continues to be there several nights a week; the music is most enjoyable. Good authentic Italian food.
It is a reliable neighbourhood restaurant that never disappoints. We enjoy the veal which you don't see a lot of in Vancouver restaurants. The are pretty flexible about switching up menu items for dietary or food preferences.Nice food and service.
Booked this place for Valentine's night. They left a set menu on the table for $60 so we went with it. Mediocre pizza store food with a half carafe of wine.... $160 + tax and tip. I think there are much better options for next time...
Being generous here. Pasta was a bit salty and there was a strand of hair in the salmon. Otherwise, it was OK.
Arrived 1 hour before reservation - they had room & seated us - food came quickly and was excellent
Owner was making rounds along with servers and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we had a great experience at his restaurant.
Piano was an elegant added touch. I'd go back.
We stopped in for the dine out menu since this spot had been on my mom’s list of places to try for a few years. I was hesitant to go but the reviews online looked pretty good so I was optimistic. I enjoy live piano too so the fact they offered this was a bonus.
The food was ok. My starter prawn salad was ok, but difficult to eat in the tiny dish it was served in. I wasn’t sold on the combo of flavors either. The lamb was good - the best part of the meal, but the side penne with marinara sauce was a huge let down. Tasted like box pasta with jarred sauce, I expected more from a place like this. The lamb and pasta didn’t go together and there were no veggies or anything on the side. For $40 we didn’t feel we got enough value. I noticed on their menu board they have a regular 3 course menu for $30.
I was also disappointed the piano didn’t start until about 7pm so we missed all but 2 songs that we caught after dessert.
Perhaps their regular menu is better but we won’t be back to find out.
We had the dine-out menu. The food was fine but overpriced. The service was good.
I went there for Dine out Vancouver. The food is pretty good, lamb rack was cooked just on point. And i love there Tiramisu, which is a must try!
The environment there is very cozy. Not like those big morden and fancy restaurants, Ciao Bella is a small but warm and high quality restaurant just like what you can actually find in a small alley in Rome.
Very good experience, worth a try.
Visited for the first time last night, but will definitely be back. Quaint, neighborhood style restaurant, that transported us back to Italy with both the atmosphere and the food. Seating is tight and intimate (just like in Europe), and our server, Bill, along with the talented pianist, Doug - ensured we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Nice size portions, and great food.
Went here for Dine Out so not sure if it changes the quality. Atmosphere and service was nice. For appetizer i got the lobster bisque which was quite good. They gave us these bread sticks that were crunchy which i liked. The entree i got the rack of lamb. The lamp itself was very good , very juicy and cooked to the rare-ness i liked. However, it came with pasta with tomato sauce which didn't compliment the lamb at all. The dessert was Tiramisu which was very average.
I live in the neighbourhood, and often take visitors to this my favourite haunt. It is quiet, music sets a nice tone but does not impede conversation. Food is very tast and consstent each time.
I really wanted to like this restaurant. It started off good, got seated right away and the Insalata Especiale with goat cheese was quite good (nothing out of this world, but good). Date had minestrone soup which was good too. Mains is really where it fell short for me. Ordered the chicken parmigiana with high hopes and it fell flat on everything. Chicken just tasted old/not fresh, it was very soggy, nothing crisp about it. Flavor wasn't great. Pasta that came with it was bland shells with red sauce, I've had much better. For dessert we had Tiramisu which I thought was really good, one of the highlights of the night, along with the piano player. Service was good, food was not. Don't think we'll go back.
Always the very best in food, ambiance, and service. This is our go to restaurant when we have friends come visit! Never disappointed.
Office Christmas dinner
Very good local restaurant. Offers good Italian food, great menu & good wine list. Piano player really adds to the evening. Fun place to go with friends or family
We went to ciao bella for my girlfriends birthday. The food was excellent, service was exceptional and the atmosphere lovely. Ciao bella really helped me kill it for my girlfriends surprise birthday. Best date spot around.
We enjoyed our dinner very much, although one in the party found the lobster special menu (cannelloni) just OK. I thoroughly enjoyed my pasta vongole, my usual - must branch out the next time. The music is very pleasant, and not so loud that conversation at the table is unstrained. The service was attentive, cheerful and helpful.
Ciao Bella Restaurante & Piano Bar is a west end treasure. Staff, though overworked at the time, were friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was intimate and the live piano added a wonderful background. Good food and a great time was had.
