Located in lively Soho, Cipriani Downtown, a more casual version of Harry Cipriani, features classics from Harry’s Bar in Venice and traditional Cipriani service. Beautifully designed with changing artwork on the walls, the restaurant offers outdoor dining when the weather is agreeable, serving lunch and dinner in a party-like atmosphere.
- Common areas deep cleaned daily
- Limited number of seated diners
- Extra space between tables
- Waitstaff wear masks
- Diners must wear masks unless eating or drinking
- Sick staff prohibited in the workplace
We had a reservation for 9:45pm Sunday night. They asked us to wait at the bar for a few minutes and we’re seated around 10pm. It is a fun happening atmosphere with lots of people watching. The food we had was very good. However, the service was poor. No one introduced themselves to us as our waiter. To be honest we didn’t know who our waiter was the whole night. No one ever came to see how the food was, no one checked on us, no one asked if we wanted more drinks. We ended up asking our bus boy for a glass of wine. Then again, had to ask someone random for our check. All in all not the experience I expected for a $500 dinner for two. Maybe you have to be a regular to get good service but that definitely should not be the case. Very disappointing.
I had high hopes for this restaurant. It has a very “old New York” vibe. Seemed appropriate for older client business meetings. However, for a younger person or casual family dinner, I would not recommend. Everything is very overpriced for what you’re getting. Appetizers were good, but over $30 each. The entrees were bland and nothing spectacular and very expensive for pasta. Won’t be returning.
I would recommend Cipriani for the energy and the ambiance. My wife and I felt the appetizers and main courses to be rather bland and needed to be spiced up. The price of the meal was exorbitant compared to the size and lack of taste of the meal. I would highly recommend the vanilla meringue pie. All together, I believe Cipriani's to be a place to go to for an after dinner drink and desert and to enjoy the sights and sounds of the local patronage.
Regretfully the cuisine of the former fifth Avenue location is not available at Downtown. Food is poor at best
Classic. Like eating In Italy. Food quality and preparation was on point. Although it was a great meal and experience I do have to say my visit in NYC did not compare to the one had in Miami. I think it was the level of personal service and atmosphere was hectic. Would I return? Yes absolutely.
10th Wedding Anniversary.
Was surprised to find a place which we liked more that the one in Venice! Thank you!
Best meal in town
Consistently winder food with beautiful people
The food that I ordered was overcooked (Branzino fish hard as stone) and the side dish of rice had some spoiled oil in it ( at least that's how it tasted). I asked the server to take away the food, he showed it and talked to the manager but, the manager didn't even bother to come to our table.
The bathrooms are dated and no one bothers to check how they look. A very unpleasant experience.
Overall the experience was good. The food was good, my plate was a little bit to salty but was ok. The desert in my opinion: the best part! And the service inside the restaurant was nice.
The best Italian in Nyc 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Unfortunately I really wanted to like Cipriani after hearing so many good reviews from friends. Our experience was everything but pleasant. Checking in for our reservation was a bit confusing. We stood at the entrance for several minutes, waiter after waiter walking by and not even greeting us. Then I asked a waiter where to check in and directed me to a manager. The manager still didn’t greet us, as I was about to tell him we had a reservation he immediately cut me off to ask for proof of vaccination and ID. He finally sat us down where we waited about 10 minutes to even get menus. We ordered, got our food and luckily the food was pretty amazing. We had their signature vanilla cake for dessert which was mouthwatering. Unfortunately I will never go back as I need my overall experience to be amazing not just the food. If you’re ok with rude waiters/management the food is definitely worth it.
We were so excited about going to Cipriani, and unfortunately this is what they served me. It was supposed to be sage butter ravioli. It was covered in oil (as if it had been microwaved) and soggy. So disappointing. The service was great, the cocktails were as well. Was not impressed by the food. For their reputation, and prices, I was expecting to be “wowed” by their food.
Service and food quality didn’t match the price. The restaurant is fueled by reputation of other locations.
horrible. our service sucked
THE MANAGER IS NKT GOOD
Overall, lovely lunch. However, had to wait 20mins for a server to greet our table and take our order.
I don't think this restaurant is worth the hype. I was very excited to bring my parents here, who were visiting from out of town, and I was disappointed to say the least. The restaurant seating is extremely tight and the noise level was very loud. Our waiter was not kind. My dad's entrée was served with a side of rice that was extremely undercooked and when he told the waiter, the waiter simply said "It's not undercooked it's al dente." This rice was crunchy and inedible it was not "al dente." The food was fine, but not worth the price. Both of the soups on their menu were flavorless. Again, I was just disappointed since so many people recommend Cipriani as a nice restaurant with delicious food. It was an average restaurant with average food and bad service, I don't plan to return.
In NY for a weekend and looking forward to a meal at Cipriani - so dissappointed- if you’re not in the Cipriani clique, you’re out but if you do know the staff and proprietor then your golden. Rude peoole talking about their wealth - not kind - dismissive waiters - do not go to this restaurant uness you are plastic and fake
Love the vibe!
Our waiter was the most miserable man. He barely spoke, did not greet us, after we got our appetizer he never came back. He forgot the wine and when we told him he didn’t answer he just brought it and put it on the other side of the table and walked away. We were very upset because we’ve been trying to get a reservation here for a very long time and were so excited given it was my boyfriends birthday. Won’t be coming back, not that it seems like they care.
Always a wonderful experience!
Special treatment for such a special occasion!
Attentive and fresh.
VERY loud and chaotic with people hovering everywhere not conducive for conversation
Love people watching
Slow service and poor attention to the tables. Otherwise good food.
Definitely lives up to the hype
Fantastic, per usual
Food was fantastic, service was great, prices seemed a little high for the portions at lunch.
Love the cake!
Too NOISY!!!!! To much people very near from each other!
We visited Cipriani in 2008 and at that time it was fantastic. Now, in 2021, we repeated for our anniversary and it was an awful experience. The service is really poor, the price is not justifiable. My wife is Italian and she was really mad about the cooking of the risotto. I'd say that this place is all hype.
Amazing as always.
Rebecca (our server) is a SUPERSTAR
Just an amazing place. Would go there everyday if I could. The food is very very good.
