Great new find. Love the unique menu items.
Food is fantastic. Great flavours. Highly recommend
Always really enjoy the food, the sitting I find is a little cramped and at the same time broad, making it difficult to hear the person sitting across from you.
Went with a few friends for Paddy's Day Brunch. Food was incredible!! I love a good full Irish and theirs is to die for. Quality everything, all the ingredients fresh and yum yum yummy. I could eat the black pudding forever. Very accommodating for the group of 6 of us and drinks and food came out in great time considering it was super busy. Can't wait to go back.
The food was slow, but other then that it was really good!
Service was a little lacking. Felt a little ignored.
Amazing experience! The cock for 2 was delicious! The drinks were also very good! I’ll definitely be back again!
Service once were sat down was awful, it took a long time for us to get served. Our server didn’t seem interested with us being in her section and seemed too busy to check in on us. The tables were too close together, crammed into a small space, hard to hear people speak with the noise level. I didn’t enjoy my experience, the food was pretty good and decently priced. The drink specials weren’t mentioned or posted. Overall not a great time
Great experience overall! Loved the decor. Nice private booths and great music. Waitstaff knows the menu well and makes recommendations. Large portions on the appetizers and sides.
My experience started off nicely. I had made reservations for a table and upon our arrival we were told we could choose any spot at the bar. I asked if we (there were 2 of us) could sit out on the patio as it was beautiful outside and the patio was open. The host said it was no problem and seated us there.
Halfway through our meal we were approached by the host and we were advised that in the future such as summer (it’s March) that reservations are made for in the restaurant not the patio. The patio is for people dropping in without reservations. He wasn’t rude about it but it was obvious that he may have gotten in trouble for seating us there. We were the only 2 on the patio for the majority of our time save for the last 30 min when another couple were seated there.
I understand there are policies but I feel this should have been brought up when I first asked in our arrival and not half way through my meal that I was enjoying that then put a damper on everything. I would have ordered another drink but chose to go a few doors over instead.
Slightly pricey but worth every penny. We tried 8 out of their million cocktails and loved every one. Food is delicious and made with love
I’d like to start off by saying that the meal was fantastic and an fairly good experience. The only thing that I was displeased with was the extremely loud music.
I was dining with a couple, one of which has a hearing impairment. I asked our server if he minded turning the volume down as our table was situated directly under a speaker. He immediately said they were not allowed to touch the volume without the manager’s permission. So we asked if he could ask the manager. Nothing was done.
It wasn’t until I pulled another server aside and explained the situation of the hearing impairment. Unlike our initial server, he went directly to the amplifier and turned it down- and this wasn’t a manager. Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth....
Everyone else was wonderful. I’d go again!
Food was fantastic. Ordered a few different things to try and everything was so worth it. The deep fried parsnips were definitely a pleasant surprise!
Cozy atmosphere, great menu, great service
Gf and I came in from out of town and checked out clever ok recommendation from locals.
Great sharing plates and cocktail list is awesome.
Def. need reso during peak hours.
Happy hour is amazing!!
A great brunch, everything was beautifully prepared and tasty. The service staff were friendly and efficient.
I have to say, I've dined at Cleaver more times than i can count. Its definitely our go to especially if we have comapny from out of town. But todays service made me sad. Ive had a very long week as my Grandfather passed away. My husband decided to take me out for some alone time to decompress. Our server Adam couldn't have gotten rid of us faster. He even brought the machine to the table with the bill. i didnt even have time to enjoy 1 cup of coffee before we were basically escorted out. I can understand fast turn around times, but it was 1030am and the restaurant wasnt even half full. Next time, maybe he should consider what his patrons migt be going through and maybe, just maybe this is someones time to just escape from reality and not just brunch.
What a lovely experience, favor of the food was amazing. Service was excellent. I would recommend everyone to go at least once. What a wonderful experience, we will be back.
Went for the black pudding which was delicious! I would go back again and again for the full Irish
Always have a wonderful time at Cleaver!
My favourite spot in Calgary :) happy hour is very happy, staff is awesome, very friendly, food is soooooo delicious! And cocktails No doubt one of the greatest glamours, tasteful and stylish in this town! :) go visit! Cheers!
I've been to this restaurant so many times and the experience never disappoints me. The service and food was excellent. Although the server at that time forgot to mention the special of the day on a Monday. But that's okay! no big deal, it does not affect the experience. The sliders were already enough! All of them are delicious! Only thing is that the music is a bit loud and it was hard to have a conversation.
The happy hour menu was great!!!
My wife, my friend, and I ate dinner at Cleaver. We have previously eaten at Cleaver's sister restaurant, Herbs & Rye. The two restaurants have similar menus and decor. However, Cleaver is a lot bigger.
We ordered steak tartare, spicy mussels, the Kansas City, the ribeye, lamb chops, pork belly mac 'n' cheese, collard greens, and mushroom risotto. I was not a big fan of any of the side dishes, but the tartare is uniquely served on sourdough, which is a fabulous pairing, and the meats were cooked to perfection.
We love the prohibition decor and ambiance. All of the cocktails were amazing! My favorite for the night was the Rolls Royce.
The prices are pretty average for a nice steakhouse. Steaks average around $60 and sides average around $10. However, like at Herbs & Rye, Cleaver has a great happy hour with half-priced steaks. I believe this is one of the best deals in town!
Good we love the food and drinks it’s just too loud
Booked in advance for date night. Was seated at the bar and promised we would get a table. Waited an hour and although they had tables, they didn't give us one. They gave us a free mediocre appetizer. We left and went next door to the Ox. Much better.
Good place to go for sharing meals and drinks. Great vibe with a full house on a Saturday. Be prepared that you will only have the 2 hours for your reservation and then you will be asked to leave.
Great up until we were told we only had 30 mins to get desert ordered and eaten as they had to make room for the next table. I get the reason behind it but it’s never actually happened to me so it was a bit of a strange experience for us. Didn’t make it seem like the pleasant leisurely meal we were having up until that time.
Will definitely be back soon and Adam, our server, was outstanding. It was a bit dark which made it hard to read the menu but other than that the evening was perfect!! So many more things to try!!!
We have dined at Cleaver in the past, and have always had a great experience. The only consideration I would have to make is being able to read the menu, as it is quite dark. Otherwise, I would highly recommend Cleaver to anyone for a night out with excellent food and drinks!
Little too dark couldn’t read my menu at one spot we were sat but overall good experience, great food and awesome cocktails
What an awful experience - from the time we walked in until the time we left the absolute worst service I’ve experienced in the city in a long time!! I normally LOVE cleaver and have such a wonderful time - but good god was it ever awfu
The food and drinks were good, but the tables were too close and the service was slow. They need more servers and more bartenders making those great drinks.
I've been to cleaver a few times and this was my least favorite for service value. We didn't get any service for at least 15-20 mins until we had to go ask the hostess if someone was going to come take our drink order. Also the tables for 2 are way closer together then I remember. I had to apologize to the people beside me every time I got up as my back side or front side would pretty much be right on their table. Food was delicious as always. Just wish the service started out better and that I could get up to use the washroom without interrupting the people next to us.
Great experience. Will go back for sure. The service was amazing, as was the food. The duck fat fries were great and I highly recommend the lamb. The meatball sliders are also very good.
Great place for brunch! Great menu!
Delicious! Can't wait to go back and try the pancakes!
Birthday dinner for myself. The food was amazing; but our server was hard to find most of the evening.
Great food. Nice staff. Little dark but once you order the lighting doesn’t matter!
