Amazing as always!
We made reservations for Sunday brunch for 2. Meal was good but music was blaring so loud and multiple customers had requested it be turn down only to be told it wasn’t possible as there was something glitchy with their stereo. Food came quickly as there was only three tables in the restaurant at the time but service was slow. Lobster Benny was delicious but not likely I would return again
Good food and service but too noisy to visit easily. Nice decor and interesting concept.
Amazing food and service! Will definitely be back!
Birthday dinner after Cirque de Soleil. Fantastic ambiance and food
I like the food and drinks. However when I went to use my open table rewards cheque they refused me. They said it always comes back NSF. He was not very nice about and didnt feel like I should have to ask or beg them to take it. It was uncomfortable.
I think open table should give the cheques directly to the person. As I don't even want to try using it again as it was embarrassing.
I have been to cleaver a handful of times and I have never been disappointed with their food. This is the second time I have had brunch there and I would take it over most brunch restaurants any day! You are able to book in advance and therefor don’t have to deal with the long wait lists that are typical for brunch restaurants. Did I also mention that their food is outstanding?
Service was genuine, quick, and efficient.
This was a terrible experience and I will never go back. My husband ordered the salmon which did not mention that it cooked in dairy. We also mention to the server that he didn't eat red meat, dairy or eggs. When we tried to return it, they refused and did not take it off the bill. It was our anniversary and my husband didn't even get to eat. We had to go else where and have a second dinner for him alone. We asked to see the manager/owner, Alex, and he didn't even come over to talk with us. The head waiter, Camilo, was rude and dismissive. It is clear this restaurant knows nothing about customer service. When we moved tables to the patio, they moved our dirty plates and cutlery too. The margins must be really slim for a restaurant to be this cheap. My food wasn't very good either.
Very impressed with everything from our server to the food to the atmosphere. We were surprised that we got a table on the patio since it was so beautiful outside. Will definitely return next time I’m in town!
Food was good HOWEVER service levels leave something to be desired. Appeared there was only one wait staff working on a busy Friday night, and she was doing the best she could. That being said, not acceptable that my partner got his beer 5 minutes before I got my drink, or that his HOT entree was delivered 7 minutes before my COLD salad. Good service means we both get served at the same time.
Always a delight. Love the bone marrow. :)
Some cocktails had very small servings but everything else was good!
We ordered a bunch of sliders and drinks. Everything was amazing, we liked the chicken buttermilk slider the best.
Our waitress was fun and very attentive.
Nice restaurant and food. Music is really loud though so it’s hard to talk to people sitting next to you or across the table
Great cocktails. Fun server. All of the food we had was delicious. I couldn’t seem to figure out how to order exactly. The menu seemed to be designed for sharing but then the meats and pastas were strangely not easily shareable. 🤷♀️ I loved the food though. Loved loved loved.
Literally one of the best places to go in Calgary, hands down
We had a great time at Cleaver for our friend’s birthday. Drinks were amazing and so was the food. Thanks!!
Great as always! Cocktails are the best and their bomb fries are killer. Cleaver is my go to place.
Great Happy Hour! Very tough menu for GF or nut allergies.
Amazing food and service ! Had the staff hash for brunch and it was perfect ! The hollandaise was definitely fresh! My friend and I then shared the Nutella French toast and oh my god it was the best thing I’ve ever had! Warm and crunchy! Definitely started my Sunday off right !
I have never had a bad experience at Cleaver - maybe just one time I had a waiter with a bit of attitude but generally, the service is excellent. Food is DELICIOUS. If it wasn't so good, I'd say it is overpriced, but it's definitely worth the price. Happy Hour is great too. No chance I'd pay the $7 or $7.50 for the sliders regularly, but the $4 happy hour price makes them a steal. I always bring out-of-towners here for the plank Mondays and toberlone cheesecake!
Love the place!
Other than being a sauna was great!
Very reasonable price after 9pm for happy hour. Food was great, I had the bucatini pasta. Seems a smaller portion at first but very rich and filling. The double cocktails for 8$ also can’t be beat. Too many to choose from. Very creative and tons of flavours. Very noisy as it’s usually packed, conversation can be tough. Service is average-good as it’s busy all the time, but they are attentive and nice.
Food was tasty, price was great. Friendly service. Well done folks. I was disappointed they ran out of bone marrow.
Staff wasn’t the greatest
an early dinner, and we could not hear each other speak, the music was deafening! The food was tasty, but low fat diets would have a problem. Keto options were OK.
We had a group of 5. We all voted. These are the averages:
Noise level 1.8 (too loud for easy conversation)
Wine list was extremely deficient
The place itself is neat but service was meh- felt like we were an inconvenience half the time ... food portions were not the greatest ... steak and eggs for $20+ and you get 4 pieces of steak already cut up.. wouldn’t necessarily go back for brunch at least .. nothing that made us go “wow” oh and did I mention the service wasn’t all that terrific.
Had also asked for a high chair in the OpenTable booking but there wasnt even space for us to sneak in between the tables never mind a high chair
they should re-evaluate some of their breakfast menu items. $17 for 1 poached egg, 2 pieces of bacon and a swath of hash browns is pretty pricey. I added a second egg. it would have been a better value to add a second egg, half the hashbrown and add a second meat or avocado or fruit, etc...
Best Salad I have ever had, great cocktail menu and fresh vegetables! Highly recommend!
Great food, great restaurant and clever decor and character. The drinks are top notch in creativity and the food is very yummy and pretty affordable with some dishes being on the smaller side. Desserts however are amazing value and delicious.
Would go again for sure!
One of my favorite places to go for happy hour.
Cocktails are $8 and they don't skimp out on any ingredients.
The sliders are also all very unique and delicious. Highly recommend this place for a younger crowd or a crowd that doesn't mind that it can get a little loud in the restaurant.
All of the food we had was awesome thanks for the great night
Love this place, Great food, and a good value during happy hours but service was slow ...
We love cleaver. It is our favorite spot downtown for date night and recommend it to all of our friends and family. We just took my brother & sister in law there for a double date night and they also loved it. The drinks are fun and unique, the menu is great, the staff is always amazing and we can never complain. It is darker though, and quite loud. This is definitely a good spot for a first date or any date of any kind. It is fun and loud and you'll be entertained all night with the fun drinks and amazing food. If you are looking for a quite evening to have deep private conversations, this is not the place. However, if you're looking for a great time, great food and fun environment definitely recommend. My sister in-law is celiac and over half of the menu had the option to be celiac friendly! YOU MUST MAKE A RESO if you want to get in before 9:30-10:00 on a weekend. It is super easy to make reservations day off, and I highly recommend doing so.
Great service, it was fun to watch the bartenders do their thing making cocktails. Delicious food and for a great deal during happy hour!
Walked in, every single employee looked miserable which truly reflected on the ambiance for our experience this time around. The cooks, servers, bartenders all were frowning the entire experience. The server we had (Chelsea) purposely didn’t tell us nor the surrounding customers about the sliders being on happy hour or nor was it publicly displayed anywhere. This happened twice already. Once seeing the website, we asked about it and she abruptly brought it up. The neighbouring customers had no idea either until we had to ask her about it.
The food was unfortunately not as great as the first two times that we came. Not only were the buns slightly burnt this time, our server rarely came around. We could only eat 2 out of the 6 sliders that we purchased. Disappointing date night.
We also found it quite ironic that “happy hour” beer was priced at 8 dollars for 16oz. Only person that was happy during those hours was the owner.
Got a reservation at a table, but was told we could only sit at the bar. Then we were seated at gringo street instead. Server talked over me the entire time and we got the impression he didn't want anything to do with us. I've had the food before and it was good, but the service is garbage.
