CAFÉ & BOULANGERIE
Our adjacent café lets you take Cluny home (or pick up the perfect host gift!) with pastries, macarons, housemade terrines and preserves, and artisanal pantry items. Dine-in or take out, from coffee to fresh-baked breads, made-to-order crepes to sandwiches.
Delicious food, decent selection with vegetarian and a vegan option, nice ambiance. A few small things took away from a perfect rating; salad bowl had a couple of chips out of it, a hair was found in another dish, and we were served the wrong order initially.
Delicious dinner at Cluny! Service was outstanding and the steak was perfection!
Our third visit for lunch to this lovely, busy dining room in the distillery district. Service was very good and the place is gorgeous and comfortable. Our food wasn’t great this time. The hangar steak was good, but the fries soggy and undercooked. My partner’s souffle was burnt on the bottom. This is an expensive place so this sort of haphazard cookery isn’t really acceptable.
The food was terrible. the omelettes were made from processed liquid eggs. (Ala Tim hortons). Terrible and not worth the 18-20 dollar cost
I brought guests and was embarrassed at the poor quality of the food. The French press coffee was good. The server was good and the atmosphere was nice. But will not return - food horrible
We loved our latest visit to Cluny. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious (as always) and my Cluny Mimosa has me dreaming of the next one. Thanks to all of the staff for such an enjoyable dining experience.
Lovely French restaurant in The Distillery market. Menu is creative and food was very good. Wines by the glass are overpriced.
Excellent menu - had a hard time decided what to order. Our server was excellent and
most attentive. Great ambiance.
Excellent servuce and an exceptional menu. Music was a little loud.
Was not pleased with the level of service we received
Pleasant experience nice modern take on French cuisine, really enjoyed the seafood dishes, wine selection was great, ambiance was nice, however the sound level was high, difficult to converse
Our waiter, Vince?, was outstanding. This was not our first time at Cluny and each time has been better than the last.
For the 4th year in a row we have celebrated our family birthdays at Cluny. It never disappoints! As usual the service was wonderful...attentive and helpful. My husband and I enjoyed the liver and onions; it was cooked perfectly. My daughter had the deep fried fondue...different and delicious! The server brought out a complimentary"happy birthday" dessert but we also shared the delicious Pomme de Pin... absolutely unique! Thank you Cluny for another special occasion!
Loved the ambiance and the space between the tables. So unusual that instead of cramming in tables so you have no privacy they leave you space between the tables. Other restaurants take note!!
Food was amazing, I had the skate and it was wonderful. Other guests had steak and fries - also really good - for you meat eaters😉 I ordered some fries to go with my fish as they looked soo good but there were too many to eat as I was full😞
Waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and really happy to advise. Thank you!
Always gets great service plus food is amazing!! The area is soo nice and cozy. I love it especially during the holidays!!! It makes you feel like you’re in Europe.
Lovely meal as always. Excellent ambience, service and food.
Amazing food and ambiance. Definitely will go back in the future. It is one of our favorite places to go in distillery district.
I was excited to have brunch at Cluny but from the onset I was disappointed. Our waitress got the drink order wrong, she was not attentive and there were long gaps of time between her visits to our table. My mother’s gluten free bread was half heated and half cold (refrigerator cold). The food was mediocre and really overpriced for the quality and even the presentation. I only ate half of my Farmers Breakfast as it just did not taste good! It took about an hour from when we were done and wanting to go to when we were finally paid up. It was just really disappointing.
Great time .
The food that we ordered was expensive and we had hoped for a great quality cut of beef. It was DISGUSTING and full of fat! Could barely eat it.
Very lovely experience. Service was excellent. Food was very good but on the pricey side.
It was my first time there ..and it's was a positive experience, from the booking ..to the the server. To drink and food and sweet ... Great environment..clean and high end ... definitely go back for another special occasion
Cluny is quite a favourite of mine and so i chose to have dinner here to celebrate a special birthday with family(5). There was no acknowledgement from staff that we were celebrating.
Our hostess was less than pleasant. She seemed inexperienced and did not greet us as we arrived. On leaving, she didnt offer a greeting either.
Our waiter was not friendly or engaging and came to our table with half his belly exposed.
The food was good and so too our cocktails.
Service was a big fail on this occasion
- Waitress did not know the menu and looked like sleepy or having smoked ... !!!
- Another waitress did not know the menu either, when we asked the same questions.
- Main course arrived BEFORE appetizer
- Appetizer "andouille" was over spicy, it cover the original taste of andouille !!!
- Scallop Ceviche, Scallop were poor quality product (super watery !!!), fried shallots were soggy !!!
- Hanger steaks were medium low quality.
- Red wine was too warm !!!
Hamburger was not good and was very small. Also the seafood plate was nothing special.
Probably the worst croque madame I’ve ever had, and being French, I’ve eaten plenty. It was dry (the ham mixture and the bread) a nice slice of ham and a not so fried bread would have been better. My fiancé’s daughter loved her eggs in purgatory. The ambiance was great. The service was great. Will give this restaurant another try but will certainly choose any meal option.
Beautiful ambiance. Pastries, best in the city.
Seasoned frites feels a bit sacrosanct. An unseasoned frite would suit more palates.
The eggs benedict was a very heavy dish. I couldn't finish half my plate. Would be nice to offer another benedict with two eggs and a much lighter treatment.
Outstanding service, all staff were amazing.
Hmmmm ... I've brought friends and family to Cluny for Sunday brunch three times in the last month or so. I was really irritated to be seated at a rather crap table when so many with comfortable seats were available. The waiter was nice - I think his name was David - but I felt my food (kale salad with chicken and pomegranate) was very overpriced. The taste and quality was good but my bill was rather shocking with one coffee.
Unfortunately the Distillery District Christmas Market is too crazy for me to book any Christmas dinners or parties so I won't be back for a while.
Excellent in every way, service, food, ambience. Pricy but worth it.
Service and ambiance were incredible, as were the drinks, salads and oysters. The black fish soup had little crunchy bits of shell in it and the hangar steak was sub-par with little-to-no seasoning (the herb butter was a miss too). My wife ordered the sable fish and could barely eat it. Overall rare less-than amazing performance for Cluny.
Went there for bday dinner and dinner was good but desserts were a letdown. Chocolate bomb was a flop bc the person didn't know what there were doing.A head waiter came in to fix by mood was already gone bad. The flambe was a not even good tasted like alcohol and another amateur untrained person tried to serve this dish. The funny thing is other tables had professionals doing the same desserts and we got the trainee. Not recomended to go back. Not waiters fault just the lack of support around him.
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding!!!
Avoid if very busy. Food is notably better quality when they are not overloaded. Service was good but we noticed the difference in the food.
We had a wonderful server, Vince. We enjoyed our experience there.
The server was very pleasant , attentive and knowledgeable
Huge Distillery District French bistro for special nights out. Bakery and smaller bar space on either side of the front entrance leads to huge dining room and then private space. Packed and loud. Fancy bistro fare (tartare, whole fish for two) was fine. Caesar was served as salad hidden under Parmesan cracker with coddled egg, which was difficult to handle with little extra flavour. Prices exorbitant with wines over $50 and mains over $30. Great looking patio that I’m sure is fantastic in summer.
I really like a lot of things about Cluny. The service was good and the ambience is great. But for me there are not enough vegetarian options on the menu. Would like to see a daily soup too and a few more small plate choices that might be suitable for lunch.
Very creative menu with lots of options.
Getting there was very stressful due to downtown Toronto traffic and extremely limited parking. Allow lots of travel time to get there due to location in downtown Toronto. Therefore not suitable for before performance dinner. Make dinner here a full evening event.
Food not up to usual standards - soup was black and funny tasting; Caesar salad way too spicy (not supposed to be spicy); luckily I was warned about pork in the sable fish dish and avoided it but who puts pork in a seafood dish and compounds the issue by not mentioning it on the menu. Altogether not what we have become used to at Cluny - will give it a pause before we return.
Great atmosphere, service was wonderful. However the food is not the best; a little oily for my liking. However its a beautiful restaurant to have a casual dining.
Great as usual.
