Food was average. Expected much more given the location, decor, and price.
Some of the worst food I’ve ever had. Very surprised considering how well rated restaurant was.
Cluny was unexpectedly great. Wasn’t sure what to expect based on previous reviews. My partner and I celebrated his Birthday at Cluny. We shared a couple of apps. Highly recommend the steak tartare (large portion and delicious). We had the burger which was good (the fries are excellent) as well as one of the fish entrees. I had indicated it was for a Birthday on the reso and wasn’t sure if they would do anything special. They came out with a dessert. A perfect way to end the evening. Will definitely be back.
Love the decor and the relaxed atmosphere. The staff are always professional and courteous. Always enjoy the unique and french flair.
the service was exceptional. they knew it was an anniversary and gave us complimentary glass of rose, wine tasting and we were well taken care of.
My husband and I eat at Cluny’s regularly, and we are never disappointed. This was a birthday dinner and it was awesome! Thank you for consistently delivering such wonderful food and friendly staff. Karen and Cliff
Our server was not too attentive and he was slow. Food needed more seasoning. Quite disappointing.
Very creative menu well executed. The service was caring and attentive. My biggest problem was the chairs. My husband is 6’ and I am 5’. Neither of us was comfortable. The back of the chairs had no padding. We took 2 pads off one additional chair and put one behind me and one under my husband. It was far from perfect but a little better. For the price of most dinners, I thought the seating could be improved. The discomfort was over ridden by the meal and service. Will certainly return but I do hope the chairs will be corrected
We were celebrating our 40th Anniversary . I had indicated to them of this occasion and requested a table for 4 and 1 high chair. We have been to this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed the ambiance ,food and service. However, this time we were given a cramped corner facing the kitchen along the back on the way to the kitchen. We had dinner reservation for 6.30 pm and when we arrived, the place was quite empty. The food was mediocre. We had ordered Gnocchi for the baby...it was an embarassment for the restaurant to serve this dish. They had boiled Gnocchi and put it in a plate along with canned sauce and few sprinkle of parmesan. It tasted horrible and went uneaten. Grilled Monk fish and Atlantic Turbot was also a disappointment. The server who attended was indifferent and the service was no where what we expected...having been there before. I regret to say we will not be coming back here!
Great place. The food was excellent. Service was great. It’s a beautiful space inside and also we were lucky to enjoy our lunch on the patio. I had the burger which was absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend this place
I thought the portions were small and food was slightly underseasoned. I also experienced major heartburn for about the next 10 hours. It wasn't really for me, as much as I wanted to love it!
My only complaint was the small portion size. Otherwise, I love this restaurant for its ambience.
Cute place but noisy. Good food. The service a little slow.
Our server Melanie was fantastic!
Thanks for a great dining experience!
Not the first time I've been here, and it won't be the last. Cluny is my go-to restaurant every time I have dinner before a Soulpepper performance at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, just right across from the restaurant. I love the diverse menu, using a variety of ingredients in a very unique way. Their selection of mixed drinks, cocktails, and wine list pairs very well with the menu items.
Great food. Amazing French cooking. Delicious. Not overly expensive, but more than a typical dinner out. Service is not the fastest, but they are very nice, professional, and provide great recommendations. The grilled octopus and hangar steak frites are amazing.
This was one of the most unsurpassed dining experiences I've had the pleasure of attending. The ambiance of Cluny was beautiful. The meal was marvellously presented as well as delicious. The service was amazing. Our server was attentive, friendly, witty and efficient. We were celebrating a friend's birthday at the time and the staff made sure that guests were taken care of. Cluny also included a specialized mousse dessert for our birthday friend which added a lovely touch to the evening. Our table had a fabulous time at Cluny and we'll be sure to keep this restaurant in mind for future events. Thank you :)
We had an excellent dinner with friends on the patio. Delicious and tasty shore lunch as well as the kingfish ceviche. Loved the food and ambiance and the service was excellent! Thank you! We’ll be back soon.
Great food and experience but I made a special request when booking my reservation online and it was acted on. I requested dessert be sent over to the table for my friends birthday - this did not happen
Incredible food and impeccable service! We will be back again!
We have always gone to Cluny's on a week-end -- very busy, crowded, impersonal and rushed service. This time we went for Thursday lunch -- what a difference! Not as crowded and the service was wonderful.
Unfortunately, I still find the frites arrive at the table cold. If I send them back, I have to eat my entree in order for it not to get cold while waiting for the frites to re-appear. This has happened on several occasions, so I would suggest to management that they find some way of keeping the frites hot until ready to serve.
Otherwise, the food is very good, the ambience is great and the decor is spectacular.
Try going on a week-day for lunch!!
Excellent food and service
Very nice environment in Distillery District. Outstanding service and great food. 5/5
Loved the decor in this restaurant! Even the plates were unique and the food was very authentic. Not a single meal choice was bad. Our son ate everyone’s FRENCH fries (frites) and said that they were the best ever
The food is "good", but it is very over priced.
I made an online reservation for a birthday, and asked if a birthday dessert was possible.
My birthday request was completely ignored.
When you make an online reservation, they ask if this is for a birthday etc.
So why ignore the birthday dessert request? Maybe just remove the birthday question in the online reservation website?
Anyways, Disappointed overall.
Great Service! Thanks Joshua for making our first time a great experience ! Will be back for sure.
Service wasn’t stellar and meals were just ok. The pastries were delicious though. Recommend for coffee and pastries.
Dad’s 60th birthday. Which was mentioned on the reservation. Lovely experience. Unfortunately they do not do anything special for special occasions which was a bit disappointing, but otherwise happy with the experience and great service.
If this survey may include also Cluny’s Bakery products, this review is meant for it:
- Pastry products are overpriced (e.g. small pistachio rectangular cakes)
- Some purchased croissants were burnt
Please look into these aspects. Otherwise your restaurant is an almost perfect one! Well done for the chef and the waiters!
No air inside. Food seemed like it would be tasty but it was very disappointing. We ordered 4 apps between 2 of us to split and try different items and they all came at once. There was no room on the table. They said that was normal for everything to all come out at once and it be that way. Also, the table side steak tartare is them mixing a bowl of everything already in the bowl. You do not see the proces which you normally would have expect at table side. On top of that, it was the most awful tartare I’ve ever had and tartare is one of my favorite items to order and try wherever I go. Service was awful. Would never go back and do not recommend.
Went for my wife’s birthday. Food was great and service excellent (from a staff perspective). We waited more than adequate to get our table (which was reserved in advance) and then also quite some time for the appetizers. The hostess apologized and they compensated us with a very nice mix of desserts plate for my wife (included the profiterole she initially ordered) which was free in the end (as was the other dessert we ordered - the chocolate bomb) - this was really a nice surprise! Both desserts were delicious!!! For food, the appetizers - 1/2 dozen oysters, beef tartare, seafood bisque, frog legs, salted cod donuts and the fried Camembert fondue, all were excellent. For mains we only got 2 - the hangar steak and the liver w onions, both came with fries. Best liver I ever had, and my wife was really pleased about the steak - I tasted it, extremely flavourful but a bit on the chewy side (but the waiter - Chad - told us already that, so we knew what to expect). All in all a wonderful experience (despite the wait). Not cheap, but worth it imho. This was our second time actually, and I’m sure we’ll be back!
My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary on Saturday. The first thing we noticed was the ambience and decor. It was really nice. Great food and great service! Our server AJ was amazing! Thank You! We will definitely come back again.
Waiter was clueless. Manager was good, but many issues with my meal. Overall I was disappointed
Really good food and atmosphere but marked lower as a steak ordered medium-rare came medium-well done.
Food came cold, service good; but we won’t rush back
Very welcoming: ambiance, service, taste! They have it all!
Food, especially vegetarian items were excellent.
Server knowledgeable and personable.
We sat on the terrace which was peaceful and conducive to conversation.
The interior of the restaurant was horrendously noisy; impossible to converse without raising your voice.
Tables for two are uncomfortably small. The hostess refused to seat us at a larger table even though there were many free and remained so during the time we were there.
Beatutiful decor, wonderful informed server, and awesome French onion soup. Great for any occasion.
Excellent restaurant with good food and exceptional service.
