Also, home to adjacent pâtisserie/café with house-made fresh baked breads, cheeses, preserves, sandwiches, pastries, fresh juices, and more!
Our server was not very polite. We were a group of 7 friends and we all noted that the service was not up to standard.
This is my 5th time here in the paste 3 years. It is a great restaurant with great atmosphere and ambience. The clientele is upper scale and the location in the distillery district is great. The food has always been great except for this time. My food was great, but my wife's food was disappointing. She got the Florentine omelette and it was just egg with very little additional ingredients. It was a small omelette and it was still wet. It was not cooked enough. However, I still recommend this restaurant and I will return to it in the future.
We came this afternoon for brunch, celebrating my wife’s birthday. The staff was great, offered helpful tidbits of information about menu items and their overall service was superb. We sat at the patio, it was gorgeous! We’ll be back for sure!
You removed the octopus from the menu. The waiter felt bad . It was still on your online menu. That was the only reason we came. We love it. Bring it back. Other then that Overpriced mediocre fare
Would I recommend? For the Octopus. Yes. For anything else? No. Sorry.
We were seated promptly at our reserved table which was in a less crowded part of the restaurant-perfect! The wait staff was good- not overly attentive but good enough and when he finally smiled and engaged with us, we felt better. The food was excellent- We would have preferred less meat and more vegetables with our liver and steak dinners. It was pricey but perfect location for going to a play.
I was shocked by the service and experience we had at Cluny. Our orders were slow, wrong, and lukewarm. We had multiple items forgotten until reminded more than once - including food items, drinks, modifications because of allergy. We kept a positive outlook - and didn't make s fuss and all they did in return was give us a complementary dessert on the house (which we didn't even want). For the cost and time spent - i will not recommend this restaurant or be back.
Had a wonderful brunch. The ambiance and service were first rate. The food itself was very good. I am very fussy and the coffee was not good. Would go back.
Took my husband and 19 month old daughter for Father's Day brunch, and he loved it! Food was delicious and portion sizes were generous. Ambiance was beautiful and the service was excellent. Will definitely be coming back :)
It’s a beautiful restaurant, but we were so disappointed with the food.
It was incredibly noisy, and the asparagus appetizer was amazing, but the tuna croissant was difficult to eat -- the croissant was dry and toasted, and difficult to cut, but too big to pick up and eat. The avocado on the sandwich was too soft to pick up with a fork. Much of the topping was cut into rather longish matchsticks, also difficult to manage on a fork. They were out of my preferred dessert, and the honey cake was beautiful looking, but not terribly delicious.
The food was mixed. Some of us liked what we had; others thought that the food left a lot to be desired. My appetizer was great; the main course was pretty pedestrian
While service was very good and dishes/ wine acceptable (though too pricey) the big negative was noise level. The banal music was played much too loud, so everyone had to talk too loud, and with virtually no soft furnishings to absorb the noise, the ambience and our lunch was spoiled. Thank you for the little Birthday suprise, macaroons plus fruit pieces were delightful and delicious,
Service was painfully slow, even though we had our child with us, and informed the waiter that we needed our meal to be expedited. Our child’s main course was brought to the table about 20 minutes after we placed our order, and it took another half an hour, at least, for our salad and croissant sandwich to be served. Have you ever asked a four year old to stay seated and wait patiently for their parents’ meals to arrive and be consumed? I assure you, it is not enjoyable for anyone involved. We were underwhelmed by the meal, and cannot fathom how it could possibly take the kitchen staff so long to prepare these very basic menu items. We had oysters and frogs legs while we waited. The oysters were not well shucked (shell shards with every oyster), and the frogs legs were tossed in a strange sweet goopy sauce. There are so many great restaurants in Toronto. Don’t waste your time here.
We arrived at 5:30 and needed to leave at 7:15 for the theater. The server was very very nice. The service was very very very slow. The beef was tough. And it is advertised as steak frites and the fries were hard and cold.
Not the best place for dinner at all. Probably the best for brunch. The ambiance is terrific but the service was painfully slow.
Food and ambiance were great, however my friends and I experienced very poor service. The waiter did not once check up on us, yet managed to make plenty of conversation with the tables beside us, who happened to be older Caucasian couples. He spoke no more words to us except to ask if we were finished eating, had other waiters bring us our meal, and neglected to provide us with the complimentary food that all other tables had received. Not sure if he treated us this way because he has something against Asian people, but I found his service to be quite disrespectful. Overall, his behaviour very much so ruined our dining experience at Cluny, and I hope that the restaurant can improve its service in the future.
We arrived a few minutes early for our reso and although there was a lady behind the counter she did not bother to look up at us. Because I knew the restaurant was opening in time for our reso I assumed she was just busy trying to get prepared so we politely waited. Then another customer comes in and walks up in a more demanding fashion and she seats them as it’s two minutes to their opening. I just think she should have greeted us and got our info before proceeding. Other then that everything was great. Our server was lovely and the food was great. Did not love the monkfish dish but we did love the cesaer salad and the frenchy burger.
The ambiance is excellent, specially the outdoor patio. The drinks are great, and the service is good. However some of the food options are inconsistent. The kitchen continues to lack the ability to cook a medium-rare steak. I returned it once as it was over cooked, and the second time it was still medium-well, but I did not want my family to keep waiting another 25 minutes while their food gets cold.
Amazing ambience... epic venue... great service... tasty food. Will return
Overall was quite good. All the dishes were great with the exception of the ricotta soufflé which came out dense and dry and not at all to description. The service was a bit lax with food not arriving together and a rather casual approach. They did make up for this by bringing a delicious birthday dessert.
Bright, lovely room. We sampled the new brunch menu and we were not disappointed. The waffles were very decadent and there was an interesting twist on eggs in purgatory. They came on a bed of lentils! We were sure to leave room for dessert as the danish and brioche loaf were a big hit. We really enjoyed our brunch as the food was great but our server, Kyrah, made it extra special.
This restaurant is really a triumph of slick marketing over reality. It is enormous and offers only industrialised cooking. Some of the staff have ear pieces and the place has no soul at all. The truffle omelette was over cooked and under seasoned. The octopus did not taste fresh and was dry. Avoid this place.
The food is good but leaves you hungry.
Amazing experience will be back soon !
French onion soup and Caesar salad to die for. Presentation followed up by taste.
Fabulous food as always. Are waiter (I forgot his name!) is so knowledgeable and made awesome suggestions! We always take out of town friends to Cluny because we are confident it will be wonderful!
We love Cluny! The service is amazing and the food is absolutely delicious!!
We were with our teenage daughters and celebrating the arrival of summer. It was a wonderful experience with great food, attentive service, and a wonderful atmosphere in the Distillery District.
Food and services were fantastic. French Onion Soup and the Short Ribs with all the delicious sides are outstanding. I would recommend to friends and family.
Happened to find this restaurant in the distillery district. Shared some frog legs - they really do taste like chicken, but with a very soft texture. They were quite flavourful. For the entre, we with had the boar. It was very tasty and we'll proportioned.
1. The Cesar salad for kid (grass and bit Parmesan) we finally got after 20 minutes after adult salads, after remaining. The explanation was that it difficult to do all dishes in one time. I am bet that this salad was forgotten
2. We waited for the receipt about 15 minutes, asked about it, and wait additional 10 minutes more
3. The food wasn’t tasty. It’s subjective, but burgers and tuna main course was cold.
Despite having a reservation we had to wait nearly 30 minutes to be seated. An item I ordered was out by 8 pm. My steak was overcooked and dry. Service was excellent and they did comp the desert however. Noise level was too high.
Not as great an experience as desired for a special occasion.
Best steak ive had in years. Wine a tad overpriced but still delicious.
Have been to Cluny many times over the years, and it's typically my preferred restaurant in the Distillery. This time though, the food was lackluster...missing the usual "wow" factor I have come to know. Everyone in my party agreed that their meal was nothing special, and different than in the past. Service was excellent though, and cocktails and wine were good.
Nice place, food is great, closes a bit too early would be much better if they maded it a hangout place at night.
Cluny has a great ambiance and the decor is great. The food was all excellent and came out very quickly. The only issue I had was the placement of our table was very 'exposed' and not intimate like you would want at a place like this.
Very good food and exceptional service from Marc K
A beautiful place with a great wait staff but the food was just okay. Had the lightly fried crudities with dip = outstanding! Shrimp was a bit dirty and seemed defrosted (sauce wasn't great). Asparagus spears = dry. Onion soup had a weird flavour.
Anniversary dinner. Great food and atmosphere..very tempting/teasing bread table in the centre of the restaurant!
We first headed to the bar. There were two other groups at the bar. Was not busy at all. The bar tender did not even acknowledge us. We stood by the bar for 15 minutes without being acknowledged, so we decided to be seated. We complained to the hostess about our bar experience, but she just instructed another girl to seat us. No apologies. We came here for the high ratings. Perhaps we came on the night of the B-team. We would not come here again, nor do we recommend it. There are, after all, many other choices at the Distillery District.
Great ambience outdoors and indoors. Very cute place. Food (brunch menu weekend) was great but not super great.
