Contemporary American
Clydz is a lively New Brunswick destination with a subterranean atmosphere, reminiscent of a 1920's speakeasy. At Clydz, the fare is anything but ordinary. The menu is comprised of small plates and entrees, ranging from a selection of steaks, scallops, duck, house made pastas and desserts.

The cuisine is not the only element that sets Clydz apart from the rest. The trendy bar, enhanced by fish tanks and fireplaces, offers adventurous martini and cocktail selections.

When making a reservation please keep in mind, tables will only be held 15 minutes past the reservation time.

If you are making reservations for parties larger than 8 or do not see a reservation available, please call the restaurant at 732-846-6521.

I used to frequent this place a few years ago and it was a favorite spot for date nights for us. The menu has changed substantially. It is so pared down from what it was. The options were not great. There is a ton of junk food on the menu now which I assume is there to cater to the Rutgers crowd. The old menu was far better. The food was prepared well and tasty but the options were so limited that there are far better choices for restaurants in the area. Also, on a Thursday night, the place was basically empty. Not sure if that is all Covid related but it didn't strike me that they have the same popularity they once had. Maybe its new ownership. Anyway, I wont be returning to Clydz. Just not what it once was.

New menu not accurately reflected in advance. So a fine place for a casual snack, but not at all what I was expecting.

If you are expecting the old Clydz, you will be very disappointed. It is no longer fine dining, it is a bar with bar food choices. The drinks were not the same either. We will not be returning.

Admittedly, I was disappointed with Clydz. I went on their website and checked everything out having never been there before and was really looking forward to it. When you get there, the bar area has a great feel but the back dining area is a bit cheap. The tables are too low and the chairs are too high so you can't even cross your legs without pushing away from the table. We ordered the ricotta (which was more like a sour cream with balsamic), the charcuterie platter (that was delivered on a regular plate and was very sparse with old, hardened cheese) and the fries (the fries were good but nothing special). For the main course, we had the hangar steak and the pappardelle. The steak was good but the pappardelle was completely overcooked and all of the noodles were lumped together under the bolognese sauce like a big dumpling. For drinks we had dirty martinis and frankly, they were horrible. I love a good dirty martini and I couldn't even finish mine. We switched to diet cokes instead.

With all of this said, the service was good and the people were very friendly but I won't be back.

Service was outstanding, drinks weren't very strong and food was fine. My steak was ordered medium rare and came out with minimal red. Food is not expensive but portions aren't huge. Ambiance is great, probably will return but not in a rush to do so.

Huge range of different types of drinks for everybody. The small plates were great and the entrees we had were tasty. The specials they had for the day were amazing. Food came out hot and quickly. Will be back again.

Definitely NOT the old Clyde!! Menu on line is not the menu at the restaurant. Drinks really small. Food was more of a “college “ type of menu. The Clyde from before Covid was amazing, great menu, great food and great drinks!! Very disappointed will not be going there again. Our waitress was really sweet, she knew how upset we were and our bartender was really sweet as well.

Place was maybe a little too crowded in the era of COVID and none of the staff were wearing masks. Menu was very limited and all the food we had could have used some seasoning. Also, they really didn't time out the food as our main course arrived shortly after the appetizers. Cocktails were good.

I'm missing the old Clydz with the extensive cocktail menu and more interesting food choices.

We were going to Clydz for many years and our favorite server Terry informed us that this was the last dinner she was to serve at Clydz and it was the last dinner Clydz was serving. They have a new lunch and bar menu that does not serve full dinners.
Really disappointing.

Clydz is always a crowd pleaser boosted by the pleasure of Jake as our server. He helped us with drink orders, choosing entrees, etc.

The food was impeccable, we had the duck flatbread (warm, cozy, delicious), game meatballs (earthy, fun and flavorful), the mac and cheese with truffle and bacon (everything you want in a mac and cheese without being overpowering), the Australian filet mignon (everything on the plate was amazing, the mashed potatoes and veggie medley complemented the roasted beef well) and the kangaroo lion (had this one prior on the game tasting menu, this was cooked perfectly and had an amazing citrusy sauce, the gnocchi made a great, flavorful pairing).

On top of the amazing food, it was RW and the restaurant gave us 20% of our total meal (must have two entrees). We had a fantastic night and we thank Clydz for it.

Our first visit in years. I hardly ever find service to be outstanding (excellent, yes, not outstanding). This was off the charts. Water constantly refilled, silverware replaced, etc. All our food selections were excellent from the crab cake appetizer and swedish meatballs, to entrees of duck, sea scallops and two different cuts of steak.

Noise level was high, biggest issue was the heat. The A/C was cranking, however the unit is clearly not powerful enough to cool a crowded restaurant in 100 degree heat. Other than that, it was a great experience and we will be back.

What a fantastic restaurant! I have visited it plenty of times, but this time was especially awesome. The owner of the restaurant delivered our dessert and even chatted for a few moments. As a marketing professional, this seriously made ALL the difference.
This place has incredible wine selection, awesome martinis, and exquisite food. Try the duck, you will NOT be disappointed. So happy I chose to go back to Clydz to meet with an old friend.

Very good food and service. Genuinely unique menu items that were all very tasty. Service was very good. The bar scene was very good as well with a great variety of cocktails. It may have been the largest cocktail menu that I have seen in a while. The outside ambiance did not look like I expected.

Everything was perfectly prepared - the bison hangar steak was incredibly tasty, the asparagus was al dente, the martinis were not too tiny :-) Ever since having buffalo prime rib in Denver about 10 years ago and discovering it was the most tender, flavorful meat I'd ever had, I've been searching fruitlessly for that same magic - until now. Thank you, Clydz!

Service was excellent and drinks exceptional. Our three dishes were very good except the burger special at $16 was burnt on the outside and medium inside. I ordered rare and did not expect it to be like a hockey puck. It was also on the small side for $16.

Been to Clydz with my fiancé many times over the last 3 years since we have been dating.
We plan on getting married at Clydz. There isn’t a place we could think of to get married other than Clydz.
We love the location, the ambience, the drinks and the menu.
The wait staff is exceptional. Mike took care of us this past Saturday night as we celebrated our re-connection from 3 years ago after 35 years apart.
The pace of our evening was perfect, from our drinks, oysters appetizer, our incredible dinner and the after dinner cordial. It was ON-THE-HOUSE, which we greatly appreciated.

Mostly tight quarters in this seemingly trendy underground (in a basement) bar and restaurant. Unusual game entrees with a few standards (chicken, beef and scallops). My wife and I enjoyed the everything we ordered, none of which was from their game menu. The cocktail menu is as large as the food menu and our specials were very good. Service had bursts of attentiveness with periods of neglect. I believe every member of the wait staff delivered a plate, took payment, refilled water, dropped off a drink, etc. I would go back again.

Clydz offered us a great opportunity to try some very unusual food offerings, and we were very pleasantly surprised. We had the sampler with wild boar, quail, and rabbit sausage, and also got a petite portion of kangaroo and the alligator in a blanket appetizer, and it was all delicious (and very different, for us) and we enjoyed the experience greatly.
